CHAIRMAN'S LETTER SPRI N G 2018

Happy New Year! I hope this greeting finds you happy and healthy with much to celebrate in the coming New Year. At MarineMax, 2018 is shaping up to be an eventful year filled with major milestones and a lot to celebrate! We have spent the past years transforming MarineMax to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the challenges of an ever-changing industry. This transformation has resulted in some major changes including the creation of MarineMax Vacations; the addition of new yachts brands including Galeon Yachts and Ocean Alexander; the all-new MarineMax. com and MarineMaxYachts.com websites, where visitors are treated to the finest yachts and yacht brokers in the industry; and our brand new Service Express App, where you can schedule your service or repair needs, and one of our qualified service advisors will respond promptly to take care of your boat – just to name a few. That’s a lot of change in a fairly short period time. As we celebrate our 20th year as MarineMax, our focus is on things that

have not changed: Customer Service and Reliability. We continue to hang

our hat on providing the best Customer Service in the industry with the most reliable operation. I’m immensely proud of our proven track record of both. And we resolve, once again to deliver the best boating experience to you, our customer, our family. At MarineMax, our Mission is to provide the world’s best pleasure boating experience by consistently exceeding the greatest expectations of our customers, our team members and shareholders. Our team members are known for establishing meaningful connections, on and off the water, with our customers in a way that is genuine. Reliability is pretty simple: We don’t want to let you down. We intend to get you on the water, when you want, and exceed your expectations along the way. Customer service and reliability go hand in hand, and we know we must have both to earn the respect of our customers. With all of these exciting developments on the horizon, you can rest assured the customer service and reliability are not New Year resolutions that can just be achieved and crossed off our list. We want to constantly improve on the things we set out to accomplish 20 years ago. So thank you

another created a working volcano, and a third built a waterfront village with a moat that f looded with each wave. After lunch things kicked into high gear; the ladies went trick or treating for beauty supplies at a beautysampling event with National Beauty Magazine, while the kids had their faces painted at the pool patio. Everyone’s competitive nature came out during the duck races. Guests bet on their favorite, then gathered to cheer their rubber friends to victory. In an intense race with 96 rubber ducks battling the waves to the finish line, it was Jeff and Janet Rapisarda’s duck that came out victorious, a confirmation that their last minute decision to attend the Montauk event was the right one. In addition to special events put on specifically for MarineMax customers, guests also enjoyed the many activities offered by the Montauk Yacht Club. There are several pools, tennis courts, and always live music. Guests enjoyed walking through the harbor and admiring the amazing boats, each one more spectacular than the next. Some of the most spectacular vessels were docked all afternoon at the MarineMax event, where attendees could take a tour of the latest Sea Ray boats and talk with representatives about new features. The highlight was taking the SLX 400 out for a spin.

The SLX 400 is the hottest new party boat from Sea Ray, and winner of the 2017 NMMA Innovation Award. The shear size of this craft is impressive, it includes a retractable sunshade that deploys electronically from the hardtop, storage for two full-sized stand-up paddleboards, a helm station that features an intuitive digital dash, and effortless docking and precise maneuvering courtesy of Axius joystick control. Back on land, the pool patio was transformed into old Havanna with a live cigar rolling demonstration. “My wife and I like being near water, so we were thinking about buying a second home on the coast of Florida, planning to retire there in the future...”

After reading about a couple who did the Great Loop, John and Laurie thought that sounded like a great addition to their retirement plans and they began researching 40-foot boats. “Big enough to be comfortable but small enough to do the Great Loop,” Odum says. They met with salesman John Powell at MarineMax Cumming, located on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta, on

open space for entertaining,” Odum says. And they did purchase the boat a couple of weeks later. Powell pointed out to the Odums that they could put the boat in at Lake Lanier, about 35 minutes from where they live, and spend the next few years enjoying the boat and learning to use it on a lake, and then move it when they are ready to retire. “He wasn’t pushy at all,” Odum says. “But he was right. We are enjoying the boat even more than I anticipated, and we absolutely made the right decision to go ahead and buy.” Looking back, the timing was perfect for maximizing family time together. While Will goes to school in state, Robby will move to California for college in the fall. www.marinemax.com

| 15

“The open design of the Sea Ray 400 Fly was the key selling point for us,” Odum notes. “Because of the layout, the captain can be driving and the first mate preparing a meal, while both interact with guests. And we really like the flybridge; there is a lot of open, comfortable space.” "The hydraulic lift was also a selling feature," Odum says. “We house a Sea-Doo back there. We also have a lot of young kids in our extended family and we can drop the lift to let them play in the water without leaving the boat.” Citing the joystick, thrusters and dual engines, Odum adds, “We also appreciate how maneuverable a boat can be with the right accessories. It was intimidating at first, but it has been easy to learn.” He notes that Will has become a proficient captain as well. Odum says he was pleasantly surprised at how often they used the boat even during the cooler months. During the winter, the family spends weekends on the lake and they close the sliding glass doors of the interior salon to get their boating fix within a controlled temperature environment. “We have used the boat a lot — it has been great at bringing us together as a family,” he notes. “My mom and Laurie’s mom both enjoy boating with us, and we love it when Will and Robby invite friends.” The boat is also great for hosting extended family. One of Odum’s favorite outings brought together 16 family members, including his mom and his sister, her kids and her grandkids. “My niece, her husband and their 2-yearold were visiting from Texas for four days, and we were really excited about spending one day together on the lake,” Odum says. “We enjoyed lunch at a lakeside restaurant, the kids enjoyed playing in the water, the older kids got out on the Sea-Doo and on one of those 18-foot floating mats. It was just a great day,” he adds. That evening, his sister called and asked, “Would you mind if we do another boat day? Everyone loved it so much that they want to cancel plans for another day so we can spend more time together on the lake.” “That was telling,” Odum says. “The Sea Ray Fly is truly the family magnet that we wanted.”

STAYING IN A SUMMER MINDSET THESE COCONUT RUM-BASED COCKTAILS WILL KEEP YOU DREAMING OF THE BEACH ALL WINTER LONG

T

he calendar may insist it’s winter, but we’re staying in a summer mindset thanks to Blue Chair Bay, a Caribbean rum company inspired by Kenny Chesney’s island lifestyle. Founded in 2013 (and 100% owned) by Kenny Chesney, Blue Chair Bay was born as an expression of the singer-songwriter’s island lifestyle. Flavors like coconut, banana, as well as its line of rum creams, evoke the same beach-vacation mentality that inspires Chesney’s music. While the company’s brand focuses on an ethos of relaxation, Blue Chair Bay’s behind-the-scenes team has worked hard to create noticeably premium-quality rums. Every step of product creation is taken with great care, from the selection of high quality raw ingredients, to the intentionality of processes. For example, the flavored rums result from a complex blend of two column still light rums as well

as an aged Caribbean light rum. The delicate, light notes in Blue Chair Bay’s proprietary rum blend complement the range of natural flavors in their portfolio. This attention to subtlety results in products that mix into cocktails more smoothly than other flavored rums. Put some Caribbean in your cup with this super-simple Piña Colada recipe. Rather leave your blender at home? Try a sweet vacation-ready twist on a standard: a Pineapple Coconut Mojito. Either way, these cocktails invite you to rum, relax, and repeat all winter long. Find more rum inspiration at bluechairbayrum.com/ recipes, a database with more than 100 hand-crafted and bartender-tested cocktails perfect for any occasion, from warm drinks like Hot Buttered Rum, to Caribbean classics like the Mudslide and the Coquito, to game day punches. These Caribbean hotspots remain as gorgeous as ever, surrounded by the beautiful crystal waters and underwater sea life we envision of the islands. Island watering holes have undergone restoration and are welcoming guests back while overf lowing with the island vibes and cold beverages that the BVIs are known for. To continue to aid in the rejuvenation of the islands, MarineMax is donating 10% of new charter booking fees to the BVI relief effort. This

In November, MarineMax team members as well as employees from Correct Craft, Nautique traveled to the British Virgin Islands to help clean up the destruction left behind after Hurricane Irma. For three days, these employee volunteers banded together to help the residents of the island of Tortola. During the trip, employees served a marine technical college by clearing debris and brush from the campus. MarineMax was thrilled to be able to further help the British Virgin Islands and the residents impacted as they rebuild and prepare to welcome charter guests.

to quality that has led to spectacular growth and satisfied customers around the world. Galeon designs, conceived by top naval architects such as Tony Castro or Roberto Curtò, assure unparalleled modern styling and convenience. They are committed to implementing the latest marine technology in all of their boats. Highly specialized, onsite personnel perform all lamination, modeling, and engine installation. Leading technology and design make every Galeon yacht exceptional. “It was love at first sight,” exclaimed Jeff. “We didn’t look any further. The two staterooms with private heads, the well-equipped galley, and the comfy lounge area below are all fantastic. However, the large, accessible cockpit open to the helm deck, giant sunroof and especially the huge swim platform sincerely spoke to how we boat with our girls. Isabelle, who is 6 years old, Penelope, who is 4, and our English cocker spaniel all love to jump off the back of the boat and splash around. With the unfettered view from the cockpit, Sally and I have the piece-of-mind that we can keep a close eye on them.” The Wilson family is a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club but plan on keeping Panacea at their home along the Chesapeake Bay. Jeff works for the Wortech Corporation, a veteran-owned small business in Maryland focused on information technology and engineering services, as a software engineer and Sally is a professional financial planner who stays home to be with her children. Both are in their mid-thirties. “After Jeff’s father passed away, we did not want to wait until we were in our forties or fifties to enjoy spending amazing quality time with Isabelle and Penelope,” explained Sally. “We always enjoyed day boating every weekend, grilling, and visiting fabulous locations. Panacea now gives us the opportunity to do more with our boating life. We have already experienced two weekend-long overnight trips along the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. One to Cambridge, Maryland, as well as a MarineMax Getaways!® to Saint Michaels, Maryland, where we got to visit other MarineMax owners’ boats. Giving us a chance to get to know some great new friends,” continued Sally. “With the daily pressures of life and a full schedule, our new Galeon 385 HTS and the Chesapeake Bay are our true Panacea.”
