season 2025
to conclusions too fast.
Mares are the cornerstone of breeding.
We put our best foot forward to make the genes of showjumping’s best proven damlines accessible to every breeder in the world, offering the most transparent buying and breeding experience.
At ‘Mares of Macha’ the bar is set high. Because the name ‘MoM’ is reserved only for a mare who has performed at 5* level, whose offspring was placed at 5* level, or who has been bred from the world’s best damlines.
In the vast and sunny fields of Northern Italy, we keep our mares surrounded by the best care.
On a self-managed property.
READY TO JUMP?
www.maresofmacha.com
In 2018, we set ourselves a goal: to breed exceptional showjumpers. Essentially that’s the goal that every breeder has, but we aimed high and started to figure out what all these top performers have in common. We ended up with 3 markers that most stars share: pure performance, the ability to pass on talent to the offspring, and depth of performance in the damline & family. With that knowledge in mind, we went straight to the source. To Stephan Conter, where we managed to find and buy the holy grail for many breeders. Goya, a young and direct daughter of the unsurpassed Usha van ’t Roosakker and sister of several 5* Grand Prix horses. At Jos Lansink’s, we found a daughter of Ta Belle van Sombeke – a sister of Glock’s London. The icing on the cake was Contara, the mother of Chacco-Blue. Our breeding project had been launched.
Macha is a goddess of the Irish mythology who is often depicted with a foal, symbolizing the importance of mares. She can now be seen as the protector of the mares in our care.
Since the start, the collection has already expanded to 36 mares. Each of the 36 matches the markers, some even score the maximum on all 3. The project needed a name. A title that would emphasize the pivotal position of our mares. The mothers of future sport horses, our MoMs, our Mares of Macha. Macha is a goddess of the Irish mythology who is often depicted with a foal, symbolizing the importance of mares. She can now be seen as the protector of the mares in our care. The genes and talent of our mares are now available to every breeder.
Providing to every breeder and horse lover access to proven breeding. That is what drives us. It’s at the forefront of everything we do.
Our mares represent the current best performing showjumpers and their families. The talent of our mares and that of the world’s leading sires of sport horses are available for you.
Our prices and conditions are transparent and equal for everyone.
The ease of buying an embryo, the guaranteed pregnancy, the implantation, the transport: we guide you through a carefree buying and breeding experience with just a couple of simple steps.
Sexed
The embryos can be sexed which gives the option of choosing a male or a female embryo.
Fixed prices 45-days pregnancy
Our mares are divided into 4 categories: diamond, gold, silver and bronze, each representing a fixed price.
Until the 45th day of pregnancy, there are no costs or risks: if the recipient mare does not appear to be pregnant on this day, the customer gets a full refund.
Klaas De Coster
Before establishing Mares of Macha, Klaas had already bred and produced his first 5* Grand Prix performer. He is the breeder of Kill Bill Max and produced the World Cup winning Valle d’Alezan van den Blauwaert of Abdullah Al Marri. As founder and co-director of MAX Equestrian Productions, Klaas works daily among the stars of showjumping at the biggest shows worldwide.
Yff has immersed himself in the equestrian scene for years and is our go-to expert on breeding insights and statistics. With a strong strategic vision sharpened during his tenure as CEO of a top-design furniture company, he is recognized as the architect of Mares of Macha. He transformed the concept of ‘access proven breeding’ into a transparent, globally accessible business model.
Lisa Lourie is the owner and driving force behind Spy Coast Farm, a leading equine breeding and training center in Lexington, US, and a trusted ally for many years. With her extensive expertise and dedication to the equine industry, Lisa & Spy Coast Farm are pivotal in our global expansion, serving as our sales hub and main contact for the North American market.
Based in Belgium, Peter Bollen is the founder of Cavalor, an internationally renowned brand specializing in equine nutrition. For several years, Peter has also been the trusted nutritionist for our mares at Mares of Macha. His expertise in nutrition, industry knowledge, and extensive network are key to promoting the growth of Mares of Macha.
The Belgian entrepreneur, Filip Vande Cappelle, established EHS (European Horse Services) and is an expert in global equine transport, including all legal import and export procedures. His logistical expertise is a true asset in driving Mares of Macha’s expansion into new international markets in distant and overseas regions.
Since early spring 2024, Lien Hendrickx has been an integral member of the Mares of Macha team as a dedicated breeding and sales consultant. With over 10 years of experience in the international showjumping scene and multiple professional roles at various stud farms, Lien brings a wealth of expertise to our organization. As a former LRV rider, breeder of two 1.60m horses, and journalist with Hippomundo, her extensive background ensures our clients are in the best hands.
As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Lien thrives on traveling to visit breeders and young horse events across Europe. “I love getting out in the field with my camera, visiting our clients, and observing their foals firsthand. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them establish their own breeding projects and damlines with their MoM offspring”, Lien describes.
Lien’s primary mission is to connect with fellow breeders, answer any questions they may have about our mares, and serve as the go-to resource for all breeding-related matters.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see our clients establish their own breeding projects and damlines with their MoM offspring.
At Mares of Macha, ‘access’ is key. We do our utmost to make the genes of showjumping’s best proven damlines accessible to every breeder anywhere in the world. To achieve this goal and meet the demand of breeders in distant areas, we have established long-term alliances with parties who share our vision.
These ‘overseas allies’, as we call them, act as local point of contact and provide support in the purchase of an embryo, as well as in its importation (if not yet available locally) and implantation.
Spy Coast Farm is an 800-acre breeding and training center nestled next to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, US. The farm specializes in the breeding and development of top-quality performance horses and features a Reproduction Center, a Young Horse Development Center, a state-of-the-art Rehabilitation and Fitness Center, a CEM Quarantine facility and an Equine Education Center.
Owner Lisa Lourie and her team strive to provide the very best and most comprehensive care available. They are strongly committed to improving the equine industry as a whole.
that is our goal.
Doctor Alexandre Silva e Silva, known as a specialized surgeon, was passionate about horses since childhood. At the age of 12, he started to ride jumping horses.
In 1994, he set up his first breeding farm. Over the years, Dr. Alexandre Silva e Silva had 2 breeding farms for sport horses, always looking for the best genes to improve the Brazilian Sport Horse breed.
During his career, he made several trips to Europe to attend important studbook events and learn more about horse breeding.
Through his extensive network with breeders, riders, reproduction centers and veterinarians, and as a sponsor of showjumping events in Brazil, he firmly believes that Mares of Macha offers the best solution to provide access to proven genetics in Brazil and contribute to the development of the Brazilian Sport Horses.
Ten years ago, Roman Giani, a former rider and equestrian expert, founded Haras Abril in Lezama, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Haras Abril is renowned for its high-quality breeding and training of showjumping horses, focusing on a perfect balance of genetics, athleticism, and morphology.
The stud farm features one of Argentina’s most advanced reproduction centers and employs professionals who annually visit Europe to source superior genetics from top stallions and broodmares. These European genetics, along with selected national broodmares, place Haras Abril at the forefront of national breeding, offering exceptional horses to clients in Argentina and beyond.
During spring 2024, Haras Abril partnered with Mares of Macha, launching ‘Mares of Macha - Haras Abril Argentina’ in early July. This partnership provides customers with the option to select MoM embryos directly from Argentinean stock or have them imported from Europe immediately after purchase, ensuring pregnancies during the breeding season.
Scuderia 1918 is an esteemed international Italian equestrian team that competes in top-tier showjumping, eventing and dressage competitions. The team is renowned for its exceptional horses, such as Halifax van het Kluizebos and Tobago Z, and its distinguished riders, including Lorenzo de Luca and Kevin Staut.
In 2023, Scuderia 1918 formed an affiliation with the Italian Army, marking a significant milestone in their journey. This partnership involves entrusting the Montelibretti Military Riding Center with some of Scuderia 1918’s most valuable horses, ridden by athletes from the Army Sports Center. Additionally, this collaboration extends to a substantial Italian breeding project and a training program aimed at nurturing young talent and fostering their competitive growth. The primary goal is to develop competitive combinations ready for major sporting events.
In 2024, Mares of Macha also joined forces with Scuderia 1918, launching a breeding project focused on breeding and training MoM offspring to reach the highest level of the sport.

The MoM farm, Borgo la Caccia, is home to the mares who are available to breeders. Every one of them has been carefully selected and they all represent showjumping’s best performers and their families.
We believe that the mares are the cornerstone of breeding and of our organization. Today, as well as in the future.
All MoMs have been selected according to 3 markers. Every mare outperforms on at least 1 of them, and some even achieve the maximum score on all 3.

Mechelen, December 2011. Cadjanine was 9 years old and only had a few months of training after giving a foal, when her rider, Patrick Spits, selected her for the FEI World Cup, the day before New Year’s Eve. Her performance in the highest classes of showjumping was so impressive that Grégory Wathelet succeeded in qualifying for the 2012 Olympics in London with her in nearly seven months. On the road to the Olympics, Cadjanine won the La Baule Nations Cup and finished 4th in the Grand Prix that same weekend. The newly formed pair made it to the finals in London, showcasing the mental strength and will power of the mare on the world’s stage. After the Olympics, she finished 4th in the Geneva Grand Prix and 5th in the Wiesbaden LGCT Grand Prix.
One year later, with Rodrigo Pessoa in the saddle, Cadjanine contributed to the 2nd place of the Brazilian team at the

Carlina is the last daughter of the Landgraf I mare Calinka S, bred by the iconic Struve family from Schleswig Holstein in Germany. Calinka was of special importance as she was a sister of the legendary stallion Corrado I, who went on to sire stars like Corradina and Clinton, on his turn the sire of Cornet Obolensky. Another sister of Calinka was Fayence, the dam of Chellano Z and Condoleezza of Pius Schwizer. The mare Korrada, another sister, is the dam of the influential stallions Connor and Oak Grove’s Vanquish. The youngest of Calinka’s sisters gave Adrienne Sternlicht’s Pembroke.
But it seems as if Calinka S, in her own right, has become the most successful broodmare of the family as she gave Cassiato, who jumped at 1.60m level with Harley Brown, and the Olympic Carlina.

Carlina finished 2nd in the Aachen Grand Prix, only a few days after jumping double clear in the Nations Cup. She won the Oslo World Cup as well as the Helsinki World Cup just one week later. She ended 2nd in the Dublin Grand Prix and won the Al Ain Nations Cup. During her career she jumped three World Cup Finals, the Europeans in Madrid, the WEG in Kentucky and she made it to the finals of the London 2012 Olympics.
Carlina herself has already produced an approved son, the stallion Valentino Boy, who competes in international events for young horses with Koen Vereecke. Her daughter Rianne Du Briot is the mother of Vallonia de Reville, who competed at the 1.50m level with Nicola Philippaerts, and in turn, is the mother of the 1.60m horse Scarlina de Tiji Z with Pius Schwizer.

Charmieque herself was successful in the international 1.40m classes under the saddle of Willem Greve. Her brother, Fabrice DN, jumps in the 1.60m classes and already won the CSI5* in Calgary, Spruce Meadows with the British Matthew Sampson. Her other brother, Kaspar R, is currently competing under Harrie Smolders in the 1.55m classes.
Charmieque had her first foal, Grandorado TN N.O.P., at the age of four. Grandorado started his career as the shining star between horses of his age and won the silver medal at the World Championships for 7-year old horses in Lanaken in 2018. This excellent achievement was followed by numerous placings and wins at 1.60m classes. Today, Grandorado plays a number one role in the Dutch team, with the win at CSIO5* Rotterdam as pinnacle of his showjumping career so far. He was also recorded by the ‘Association for Dutch Olympic Horses’ N.O.P. in 2022 and has been selected to compete in
the Paris Olympics in 2024. Next to that, Grandorado is a highly prized breeding stallion. Descendants from his first year are noticed in the international competitions.

Dalila de la Pomme was born on the well-known stud farm Haras de la Pomme, belonging to the Baertsoen family.
She started her international career with rider Dorien De Vocht, after which Wilm Vermeir took over the reins and rode her up to 1.50m level. Her strong performance at CSI3* and CSI4* level quickly generated a lot of interest and so she moved to the stables of the Swedish Evelina Tovek. This duo soon competed at the highest level, which resulted in numerous placings and a victory at the Nations Cup of Aachen with the Swedish team.
Dalila is a daughter of Taran de la Pomme, son of Tolano van ’t Riethof and Ta Belle van Sombeke. Dalila’s mother, Duchesse de la Pomme, and grandmother, Vici van ’t Plutonia Hof, were both successful at 1.60m level. Dam Duchesse de la Pomme, by Diamant de Semilly, used to

But within a few months, he grew into one of the world’s most famous show jumping horses. Leone Jei won gold in the team competition and individual silver at the European Championships in Riesenbeck. His victories in the Rolex Grand Prix in Geneva immediately marked his breakthrough. In 2022, he added the CSI5* Grand Prix of Dinard and later in 2023 that of Calgary Spruce Meadows to his impressive record. In 2024, Leone Jei secured a top 10 place at the Olympic Games in Paris, with an impressive spring season including wins in the CSI5* Grand Prix of Ocala and the Rolex Grand Prix in Windsor.

In the French fields belonging to the Hécart family, Pocahontas gave birth to five foals of which no less than four compete successfully at international level. The best known is Caracole de la Roque, the bay Zandor Z mare with whom Julien Epaillard broke through at the highest level in 2022.

Sonora la Silla
Sancha LS is widely recognized as a true championship horse. At the young age of nine, she jumped the London Olympics with Daniel Bluman, while he himself was only 22 years old at the time. She started her championship career in the Pan-American Championships in Guadalajara, competed in the Olympics and jumped the World Equestrian Games in Caen. This means that she competed in three championships in four years time. Next to these championships, the mare finished 2nd in both, the Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva as well as in the 5* Grand Prix of Wellington. She won the 4* Grand Prix of Wellington and was 3rd in the LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg.
Sancha, who was bred by the Mexican Alfonso Poncho Romo, is a direct daughter of Jan Tops’ famous mare Sonora La Silla, who also gave Tizimin LS and Zodiac 4, both performing at 1.60m. Dam Sonora was a multi Grand

The partnership between Toveks Mary Lou and Henrik von Eckermann was ignited by Karl Schneider, who rode her himself up to 1.45m level. Knowing that her potential reached further, he just needed to find the right man in the saddle. At the time, he started working together with Henrik von Eckermann, who himself had decided to set up his own business after many years under the wings of Ludger Beerbaum.
Already from the very first jump, they realized this was a ‘match made in heaven’. Much faster than expected, Toveks Mary Lou was ready for the highest level, jumping her first 1.60m classes after only two months of partnership. She ended both, the Helsinki World Cup and the Grand Prix, with only four penalties. After just a little more than three years, Toveks Mary Lou was already known as one of the fastest and most competitive horses at the highest level worldwide.
On the indoor World Cup circuit she took gold on three World Cups and finished on the podium of another three. She took bronze in both the Paris World Cup final and the Omaha World Cup final. During the outdoor season she ranked 4th in the technical and tight Grand Prix of Monaco. However, she just as easily adapted to the massive ‘Aachener Soers’, jumping double clear in the Nations Cup which led Sweden to the victory. She won the Windsor Grand Prix in GreatBritain and finished 2nd in Valence and Dinard. On the Rolex circuit she won Den Bosch and was 2nd in Geneva. On top of that, Toveks Mary Lou was awarded the silver medal at the Europeans in Gothenburg and at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon.

Cascha de la Caccia was born in Holstein as U-Cacha. She was the first daughter of Picolina who would later give birth to Casanova by Canturo. Casanova competed in World Cups in the Arab League under the Qatari colors. As a 4 year old Cascha gave birth to Contessina de la Caccia. She was first ridden by Florian Angot and then moved to the stables of McLain Ward.
Two years later Cascha foaled a son by Toulon, named Tuliman de la Caccia. He matured under the Irish and German flag after which he performed as PSG Final with Max Kühner as an 8 year old. This duo jumped the Barcelona Nations Cup Final and finished 2nd in the Stuttgart World Cup. At the age of 9, PSG Final was ridden by the Irishman Cian O’ connor and competed in the European Championships of Rotterdam and finished 3rd in the mythical Aga Khan Trophy, the Nations Cup of Dublin.

Censcha was introduced as a successful showjumper under Laura Kraut. Though her career really took off when the offspring she produced in her younger years made it into the showgrounds. Her first two sons performed at an international level, but it was her 2005 offspring who struck gold. Her sons, Chacitol and Chabento, came from the first big crop of Chacco-Blue and are the horses that led Chacco-Blue to the top of the rankings. Chacitol jumped in Nations Cups, World Cups and Grand Prix. Meanwhile Chabento won the Nations Cup of Linz and finished second and fourth in the Warsaw Poznan World Cup under Sandra Piwowarczyk.
Another offspring talent was Urus 2, also born in 2005, performing under the saddle of Liubov Kochetova. They competed successfully in Canada and the United States, ending 3rd in the Grand Prix of Bromont and in the World

Cup. On top of that, they ranked 5th in the Grand Prix of Tryon. The last two years of his career, Urus 2 jumped with Enno Klaphake.
But the horse that really made Censcha’s career as a broodmare is H5 Quintol. He jumped at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and the Toronto Pan-Americans with Eduardo Menezes, winning more than €650,000 in prize money. He won the Coapexpan 5* Grand Prix and the Spruce Meadows Nations Cup, and was runner-up in the Falsterbo 5* Grand Prix and the Del Mar World Cup.
Censcha has produced nine descendants old enough to compete in the sport: eight of them successfully do and seven even at Grand Prix level. This means that 78% of her offspring has succeeded to perform at the highest level.

Hallina de Muze is a direct daughter of Cordula de Laubry, one of world’s leading broodmares. This famous mare has produced 13 horses competing at 2* Grand Prix level and higher. Cordula’s son, Global, competed at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the Europeans in Gothenburg and Aachen, while Fantomas de Muze and Lector vd Bisschop are popular licensed breeding stallions. With Lord de Muze of Mathieu Billot and Malissa de Muze of Lorenzo de Luca, 2 of her offspring have just broken through to the highest level, reinforcing Cordula’s legacy for the next decade. The descendant of Cordula who stands out the most in the sport today is Brooklyn Heights, ridden by Denis Lynch. This Nabab de Reve offspring achieves one top result after another.

Oak Grove’s Heartfelt
STORY
Quasibelle du Seigneur
Oak Grove’s Heartfelt combines her golden genes with unique sport performances and breeding successes. She jumped at the highest level herself and already brought six international sport horses who are competing up to 1.60m. She is the sister of numerous sport horses and her granddam, Ta Belle van Sombeke, is one of the most influential foundation mares in the world.
Oak Grove’s Heartfelt, born in 2005 as ‘Verybelle du Seigneur’, is a Heartbreaker daughter out of Quasibelle du Seigneur, who in turn is a daughter of the renowned Ta Belle van Sombeke. Ta Belle is the mother of – amongst others –the double Olympic medal winner Glock’s London, Goldon Hawk and Dabelle. Ta Belle competed at 1.60m level herself under Jos Lansink.

As a young mare Oak Grove’s Heartfelt gave six foals through embryo transfer. All of them grew out to be international sport horses. Her son, Cardino du Seigneur (VDL Cardento), jumped at 1.60m level under Daisuke Fukushima. Daughters, Fais Toi Belle du Seigneur and Oak Grove’s Americana (ex Anabelle Hero Z), jump at 1.55m level under respectively Melanie Cloarec and Harm Lahde.
Oak Grove’s Heartfelt started off her own international career at the age of 8 under Guillaume Ruant. Thereafter, at the age of 9, she was ridden by the Swede Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. The duo won the Sommersted Grand Prix and performed brilliantly in Valence, Redefin,... Together with her last rider, the young Harm Lahde, Oak Grove’s Heartfelt booked the most beautiful successes ending on the podium at the Grand Prix of Zandhoven, Redefin, Neumünster and signing for many other magnificent results.

Bred out of the sister of the amazing stallion Plot Blue, Babylotte had big shoes to fill, and so she did.
From the moment she started competing, it was obvious that this mare had what it takes to become a great jumping horse. As a young horse, between the age of 6 & 7, she competed in 21 classes of which she finished 17 clear rounds leading to 12 placements. During her first season at 1.40m and 1.50m level, as 8-year-old, she competed 26 times of which she was placed 17 times. At the age of 9, she was the runner-up in the Bonheiden 3* Grand Prix, as well as in the Opglabbeek 2* Grand Prix, and she won a 1.45m competition in San Giovanni, drawing the attention of all experts.
Under Yuri Mansur, Babylotte continued her streaks of clear rounds, placing 68 times out of 158 classes. She won the
King George V Cup, the Hickstead Grand Prix, as well as the Nations Cup. In the Oslo Grand Prix she finished 2nd and in both, Valence and Hamburg, she ended 4th. Her ‘double clear’ performance in the Spruce Meadows Nations Cup led to Brazil’s 2nd place. Praised for her unparalleled mentality and quality, Babylotte’s 2017 season turned her into a superstar at the highest level.

Dalida vd Heffinck became world-famous in 2017 when her son, Scuderia 1918 Halifax van het Kluizebos, was acclaimed world’s best jumping horse. Together with the Italian top rider, Lorenzo de Luca, this exceptional stallion dominated the international scene that year, winning at 5* level in Paris, Mexico City, Cannes and Miami, ending 2nd at the prestigious 5* Grand Prix in Windsor, and gaining a 3rd place at the challenging World Championship in Mechelen. He secured his position as the best horse in the world by winning the 5* Grand Prix in Rome in 2018. Today, Halifax is a promising full-time breeding stallion.
The success story of Scuderia 1918 Halifax van het Kluizebos starts with his mother, Dalida vd Heffinck, who herself descends from a very special and successful sporting family. She is a sister of the stallion Upsilon van de Heffinck and also of Versace van de Heffinck who competes at 1.60m level.

Out of the early crops of the World Champion Vigo d’Arsouilles, Funky Music is a daughter of the highly influential Lhasa, by Goliath Z. Lhasa’s first offspring, Quartz-Music, was a direct hit as she grew out into a world-class horse and even a World Cup contender under Gilles Bertan de Balanda.
Funky Music is the next offspring that made it into the upper echelons of the sport. Under Belgian rider Ann CartonGrootjans she grew into a very competitive Grand Prix horse that even competed in World Cups. Funky Music’s own first crop gave Bretling du Paradis Z, who jumped up to 1.60m level under Rik Hemeryck. Two years later El Torreo de Muze was born. This approved stallion by Taran de la Pomme jumped at the very highest level with Bernardo Alves, and scored a victory at 1.60m in the CSIO4* of Rabat.

STORY

Z
Hot Diamond Di Villagana Z didn’t steal her name. This mare by Heartbreaker was born in 2021 out of the dam of the Olympic stallion Emerald van’ t Ruytershof. It is often forgotten that both, the dam and the great-granddam of Hot Diamond and Emerald were successful sport horses and that sport is omnipresent in the family tree.
A quick look at the offspring of dam Carthina, however, demonstrates this omnipresence right away. She has now produced 6 horses, including 2 licensed stallions, who were successful at 1.50m level and higher. Her daughters have given another 8 horses who have competed at 1.50m and above. An impressive legacy in a very short time span, considering that Carthina herself was born in 2000.

Qerly Chin holds fond memories for many generations because of both, her world-renowned performances with Christophe Barbeau, Reynald Angot and Timothee Anciaume, and the outstanding performances of her many offspring of which seven jump at the highest levels.
One offspring in particular is Walloon de Muze, the former 1.60m Grand Prix mare and very successful broodmare of Michel Hecart. Walloon’s daughter, Daytona de Muze, competed with Jody Bosteels in the 1.60m classes and her son, VIP de la Roque, was ridden by Michel Hecart in the 1.50m classes. Her daughter, Toupie de la Roque, sired by Kannan, won the London Global in 2022 and ended recently in the top five of the Grand Prix of Cannes, Mexico & Paris with Pieter Devos . In this case however it is Walloon’s first descendant, Centa de Muze, who is the dam of Imogen de Regor.
Together with the American Callan Solem, Imogen gathered many achievements in the 1.45m classes in Wellington and Tryon. On top of that, Imogen proves her worth as a broodmare with her three approved sons; Mithras de Regor (1.60m), Olympic van ‘t Koningsbos and Picasso van ‘t Koningsbos. Moreover, her daughter, Latisha de Regor, also performed in the 1.55m classes for many years with Edwina Tops-Alexander. The fact that Imogen de Regor is also a half-sister of Grand Prix horses such as Freestyle de Muze (Richie Moloney), Horizon de Regor (Pieter Clemens) and Melia de Regor (Grégory Wathelet) gives a clear picture of the international success of her pedigree. Adding to that Imogen’s half-brother, Toèmme de Regor, who was recently approved by Zangersheide, means that this pedigree will remain popular with the younger generation for many years to come.

Heroine de Muze
Koko Katinka’s gene pool provides access to what may currently be the most sought-after pedigree in the world of showjumping. As a daughter of Heroine de Muze and Nabab de Reve, Koko Katinka’s five-star lineage is her birthright.
Heroine de Muze, being a daughter of Tinka’s Boy, reached the upper echelons of the sport at a young age. In 2019 she took the individual gold at the Asian Games under the saddle of the Japanese Taizo Sugitani. However, Heroine de Muze’s successes are not limited to the jumping arena as her place as a breeding mare is also well established. For example, Morfine de Muze (Rick Hemeryck), Kitona de Muze (Alexis Deroubais) and the approved stallion Levis de Muze (Ioli Mytilineou.), jumped up to 1.60m level. Kirby de Muze (Chloe Winchester), Koko Katinka’s full sister, was an award-winning jumping horse in the 1.50m classes, and her

full brother Nimrod de Muze (Pedro Veniss) jumped at the Paris Olympics in 2024 with Pedro Veniss.
Koko Katinka entered the studbook as ‘Kokaine van Eeckelghem’, and it was under this name that she and her Brazilian rider, Andre Reichmann, soared into the 6th place at the World Championship in Lanaken for seven-year-old jumping horses. The next step in her international career she took in Canada, where Rachel Cornacchia rode her through the 1.45m classes, achieving rosettes in – to name but a few –Wellington, Spruce Meadows, Calgary and Tryon.
All this success has its roots in the well-known Qerly Chin pedigree – a damline that is currently very much in the spotlight in the sporting world.

Mom’s Isaura (Isaura ter Putte) ignited her international career under the Irish flag and made it in a short period of time to 1.60m level with Cameron Hanley in the saddle. In 2021 Pieter Devos took over the reins, and together this duo gathered numerous places of honour, such as the victory in the GCT in Madrid.
Isaura is a daughter of the well-known Tinka’s Boy and Ukase ter Putte (Darco), who is also the dam of stamp stallion Elvis ter Putte and of Favorit ASK, who is an approved stallion in Germany. On top of that, both Isaura’s sisters, Lady-A ter Putte and Prescillia ter Putte, performed at 1.45m level under the saddle of Andres Vereecke. Ukase is also the sister of J’Adore ter Putte (Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida and Emmanuelle Greenberg) and of Skyhorse (Lillie Keenan).
Isaura’s daughter Mizaura ter Putte is currently jumping at national 1.40m level with Nikolas Matthijs.

STORY
Primadonna SCF is a daughter of MoM’s Werly Chin, without any doubt one of the most influential broodmares in modern showjumping. Werly Chin is a daughter of Qerly Chin and was active at 1.60m classes under Richard Davenport. Just like her mother before her, Werly Chin created her own dynasty whereby her descendants nowadays dominate top-level showjumping on a weekly basis.
Her eldest daughter Derly Chin de Muze excelled at 1.60m classes under Sharn Wordley and is herself the mother of various top showjumpers of which Daniel Deusser’s Aken winner Killer Queen VDM is undoubtedly the most famous. Diablesse de Muze was born in the same year as Derly Chin as a daughter of Werly Chin. Diablesse de Muze was Joe Clee’s faithful partner for many years and together they won prizes at some of the world’s most prestigious competitions. The stunning Everlychin de la Pomme, a daughter of Malito
de Reve and full sister of Primadonna SCF is one year younger. Everlychin built her career at the highest levels in the USA under the Irish Shane Sweetnam. The mare became famous thanks to her exceptional technique and mentality showing a perfect front leg at every jump. She passed on her sports qualities to her popular son Kasanova de la Pomme who recently won his first 4* GP in Valence under Koen Vereecke. These days he is one of the most popular breeding stallions in Europe.

Ulysse des Forets, the fantastic mare belonging to Steve Guerdat, combines the genes of absolute top sires Jalisco B, Le Tot de Semilly and Papillon Rouge in her pedigree. This mare gives us not only the best French blood but also a pedigree that is truly full of international sport horses. Ulysse herself jumped at 1.60m level and obtained various podium places at multiple 5* Grand Prix competitions, including the World Cup in Madrid and the Oslo Grand Prix in 2018. Her sister Unanime des Forets jumps at 1.55m level, and the younger Vents des Forets and Electro des Forets are both at the start of a successful international career. Her grandmother Grace des Forets is dam of Un Diamant des Forets (1.60m) and Vivaldi des Forets (1.50m). Of course the ‘des Forets’ pedigree also includes the legendary Zirocco Blue, who was born under the name Quamikase des Forets.

When Steve Guerdat talks about Ulysse, he does so with the utmost respect: “Ulysse is a fantastic mare. When in the ring, she knew exactly what to do at each moment. She was extremely careful and had a huge heart. She was always willing to fight for me and had a very competitive spirit. I am convinced that I would never have become the world’s number one if it hadn’t been for Ulysse. I am not a breeder but if her descendants were to inherit only 50% of her mentality, they will undoubtedly become true superstars!”

Winning more than € 900.000 in an international career lasting 8 seasons
Arera C is one of Mares of Macha’s top earning sport horses. In her career, that lasted over seven years, this daughter of Indoctro won over € 900.000 in no less than ten international classes, seven at 5* level and two at 1.60m. She was ranked in a surreal number of 21 World Cups and 5* Grand Prix across the globe. She won the Amsterdam Grand Prix and ended 3th with the Dutch team in Aachen. Her competitive mentality, that runs through the entire family, led her to a placing percentage of 47%. This means that she won part of the prize money in almost half of the classes she entered.
Her great granddam, Jacobin, by Ramiro Z, is the dam of Bart C, who was runner-up in the Lexington Grand Prix with Erynn Ballard, and 8th in the Harrisburg Grand Prix with Molly Ashe Cawley. Jacobin is also the dam of Deauville van Overis, another international winner under Andreas Schou. Year

van ‘t Roosakker
Lady D van ’t Roosakker is a direct daughter of the impressive Electra van ’t Roosakker, who is herself a granddaughter of the superb Usha van ’t Roosakker. Not only did Electra perform at the highest level, she also followed in her granddam’s footsteps as a breeding mare.
The pairing of Electra van ‘t Roosakker and the stallion Echo van ’t Spieveld led to Lady D. Consequently, she is a full sister of Grégory Wathelet’s breeding stallion, Kassander van ’t Roosakker, and Kaprice, who has already won five Grand Prix in Wellington and Tryon with Kent Farrington.
Lady D’s oldest offspring are competing very successfully in the competitions for young horses and she already has several approved sons.

Werly Chin de Muze
Mioko is a sister of the American-bred Grand Prix winner Kirschwasser SCF of Shane Sweetnam, who also rode another sister of Mioko, the phenomenal Everly Chin de la Pomme. Adding to that Joe Clee’s Diablesse de Muze and the Olympic contender, Derly Chin de Muze, Mioko SCF has four siblings competing at 1.60m level.
Her full sister, Derly Chin, did not only compete in the London Olympics, she also ended 2nd in the Spruce Meadows World Cup, was 3rd in the Wellington Nations Cup and 4th in the Antwerp 4* Grand Prix.
On top of that, Derly Chin is the dam of Killer Queen VDM, the multi Grand Prix winner of Daniel Deusser, and of Japatero VDM of European Champion Jos Verlooy. All of them multiwinners at 5* level. Juju VDM of Todd Minikus and Kontador VDM of Emma Stoker are also direct offspring of Derly Chin.

With Mioko SCF, Derly Chin and all her aforementioned siblings, we go back to their famous dam, Werly Chin de Muze. Werly Chin was an international performer at the highest level herself, and in her turn, a daughter of the legendary Qerly Chin. The latter makes Werly Chin a sister of six 1.60m Grand Prix horses. The number of 1.60m horses that those mares, the daughters of Qerly Chin, have produced is close to uncountable.

MoM’s Coleraine des Bergeries
Golden Dream des Bergeries
Sired by a Holsteiner, bred from a French damline, born in Belgium, named after a city in Northern Ireland, introduced by a Columbian rider and taken to the top by an Australian amazon... On both sides of the Atlantic, MoM’s Coleraine des Bergeries is a true cosmopolitan. Coleraine is a daughter of the Olympic stallion Canturo and the mare Golden Dream (v. Oberon du Moulin), who is dam of three other 1.60m Grand Prix horses. The first one is Malice des Bergeries, who won the Santander Grand Prix with Jesús Garmendia Echevarría. The second, Rimbaud des Bergeries, competed in various world cups and Grand Prix competitions under the saddle of Leonardo Mambretti. The third, Coleraine’s younger brother Dreamer, placed for the 2019 Deeridge Nations Cup with Juan Pablo Betancourt.
Coleraine herself competed under the saddle of Amy Graham until she was thirteen. In 2020 Coleraine was part

Before Coleraine started her sports career, she gave birth to a filly sired by Untouchable. That foal would later become the mother of the promising Kristalline des Bergeries. Various sisters of Coleraine gave successful descendants, such as Cerise des Brumes of Ward McLain, Ermes des Bergeries of José Ibáñez and Quicksilver of Eric Lombard.

A future MoM is a mare who isn’t available (to breeders) just yet as she is too young. The main ambition of this Future MoMs-initiative is to guarantee access to proven breeding also in the future, when their embryos will become available.
But first we let them do what they do best: experiencing the joy of growing up amid lush green pastures.
Chinderella is a descendant of the ‘van Klapscheut’ dynasty, which combines sport and breeding at the highest level. Her dam, Goriana van Klapscheut, competed up to 1.60m level with the Spanish rider Pilar Lucrecia Cordon.
Her granddam, Coriana van Klapscheut, achieved multiple Grand Prix victories at the highest level and was ridden by both, Cordon and the Canadian rider Eric Lamaze.
In Chinderella’s direct damline, there are numerous 1.60m horses, such as Odina van Klapscheut, who has been particularly successful under the saddle of the Swedish rider Petronella Andersson, and Koriano van Klapscheut, who was the World Champion as a seven-year-old and has since developed into a 1.60m horse.
The recruitment of Chinderella as a Future MoM is the result of a joint investment by Mares of Macha and Team 40 Stable.
FUTURE MoMs
With Didgeridoo, we hope for an excellent continuation of her dam Sancha LS, the championship horse of Daniel Bluman, who competed at the Olympic Games at just 9 years old and achieved success in various Grand Prix events.
Her granddam, Sonora la Silla, was Jan Tops’ top-horse, a multiple Grand Prix and World Cup winner, and in turn, a sister to Beat Mändli’s World Cup winner and stallion Poor Boy.
The quality of Sancha, combined with Zangersheide’s powerful black stallion Dominator 2000 Z, makes Didgeridoo a promising future MoM.
In 2023, Mares of Macha announced the birth of Contara Alpha, Contara Beta, and Contara Gamma, three unique clones of MoM’s Contara, the mother of the legendary stallion Chacco-Blue. With the aim of preserving Contara’s exceptional genetics, which underpin Chacco-Blue’s many successes, initial efforts focused on obtaining embryos from MoM’s Contara. After several failed attempts, the decision was made to turn to cloning. The success of three pregnancies, given the delicate nature of the cloning process, came as a remarkable surprise.
From the beginning, the intention has been to make these young mares available to breeders. By doing so, Mares of Macha ensures that Contara’s valuable genetics are preserved and accessible for future generations.
The Hall of Fame-MoMs have ended their careers as MoMs and are no longer available to breeders.
During their well-deserved retirement, they either enjoy grazing all day on the vast pastures of our Mares of Macha farm, Borgo la Caccia, or they return to their ‘home’ stable where they are eagerly awaited by their owner/rider to let them spend their old age at home.
Contara was a respected international performer under André Plath, but she really made her mark as the dam of the undisputed world-leading sire, Chacco-Blue.
Contara lived to be 30 years old and grazed until her last day in the fields of our Mares of Macha farm, Borgo la Caccia, in Italy. There she enjoyed her old age in the company of her regular group of MoMs and received excellent care from our Borgo team.
For us, having Contara at Mares of Macha was a true privilege.
Molly Malone and Bertram Allen won the CSIO 5* Grand Prix of Lummen in 2014. A month later, they finished 4th in the Rotterdam Grand Prix. Another 2 months after that, they won the holy grail for Irish riders in their home country: the CSIO 5* Grand Prix in Dublin.
After a successful partnership, Molly has returned to her owners to continue her muchdeserved retirement.
Carisma was spotted by Ludo Philippaerts and came to Belgium to be ridden by Olivier Philippaerts, winning the European Championships for Young Riders. Her successful career continued with Emilie Martinsen and Dani G. Waldman, achieving great results in many 5* competitions, including the European Championships in Aachen (2015).
After a wonderful collaboration with the Waldman family, Carisma returned to her breeder, Gunilla Persson Berg, in Sweden.
Whoopie C has 3 offspring old enough to compete in Grand Prix, and all 3 of them do. Beijing Z jumps in 1.50m classes, HH Donatella jumped the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, and Tobago Z is probably one of the best horses in the world.
Whoopie C now spends the rest of her old age together with Reine-Fee in the fields of a spacious horse farm in the peaceful West Flanders region of Belgium.
Oceane de Nantuel won 15 international classes with Titouan Schumacher and Pedro Veniss. At the famous farm of the Hécart family, she gave 3 foals, all of whom are Black Type performers.
In early January 2023, at the age of 21, Oceane returned to her home base: Zangersheide stud farm in Belgium. On the Zangersheide pastures, she will spend her well-earned retirement after a remarkable career as a distinguished sport horse and MoM.
French-bred Magie de Menardiere was the French national champion of 5-year-old horses. She is the mother of the two 5* performers Queensland E and Winnetou de la Hamente Z.
Magie passed away in September 2022. We keep the best memories of this beautiful MoM and believe that her fantastic offspring in the sport, both today and in the future, will preserve the wonderful memory of Magie.
Prima Donna van ’t Paradijs, a successful international performer herself, is the mother of Ultra-Top van ’t Paradijs and Venezia d’Ecaussines.
After her career as a MoM, Prima Donna returned to her former home: the land estate of Luc Henry in the Walloon part of Belgium. Surrounded by lots of love and receiving the best care of Luc, she peacefully passed away at the age of 32 years old.
Donatella-N is a genuine World Cup winner. The mare by Vigo d’Arsouilles won the World Cup of Gothenburg.
After 2 years of grazing as a MoM on the Borgo la Caccia estate, Donatella set course back to Belgium. There, she was warmly welcomed by the Philippaerts family to spend her old age at their family domain in Oudsbergen.
Reine-Fee spent her entire sporting career in the hands of Fabienne Daigneux and was led to World Cup and Grand Prix successes. Her daughter, Venue d’Fees Des Hazalles, is a Pan American Games medalist with the USEF Equestrian Team under Eve Jobs, and a finalist of the 2019 World Cup season.
Reine-Fee now spends the rest of her old age on the pastures of a big horse farm in the quiet region of West Flanders in Belgium, together with Whoopie C.
Our customers are the breeders. Their preferences determine the stallions we select.
Because of the fact that we utilize the ICSI technique, our clients have the opportunity to work with almost all available stallions, also with the semen of infertile stallions, deceased stallions, or stallions whose semen is very scarce.
The stallion Darley Arabian is the only stallion that appears in all the pedigrees of each mare, each MoM at Mares of Macha.
Darley was born in Aleppo, Syria, on the 4th of January 1700. This colt was bred and sold by Sheik Mirza II to Thomas Darley, a wealthy Englishman and member of the British Consult to then Queen Anne, as a four year old in 1704.
Darley’s father, Richard Darley, owned a stud farm at Aldby Park in England and Thomas Darley made it his mission to find a perfect Arab stallion to add to their farm.
Although the Darley Arabian never raced and was only used for breeding, he was an incredibly influential sire. He lived to be 30 years old with Darley’s own mares. He died in 1730.

Mares are the cornerstone of breeding. We keep ours surrounded by the best care, in the vast and sunny fields of the Lake Garda region in Northern Italy. On a self-managed property, Borgo la Caccia.
This is the home of the ‘proven breeding’ mares — a place where state-of-the-art breeding meets responsible horse care.
Our ambition was set from the beginning: ‘we want to create a place where we would entrust our own horses to’. We didn’t want to settle for less and moved to Borgo la Caccia in Pozzolengo.
Previously serving as a breeding stable and vineyard with a rich heritage, Borgo la Caccia offers everything that meets our standards: open and natural Mediterranean fields, vast paddocks covering 30 hectares dedicated solely to mares, and the mild climate of the Lake Garda region that allows for year-round grazing.
In brief, the ideal location where we and our team of experts can put the well-being of the mares first.
Our ambition was set from the beginning:
‘we want to create a place where we would entrust our own horses to’.
In the main stable area of Borgo la Caccia, you’ll find two adjacent stable complexes with spacious individual stall boxes for every mare. All stall boxes are equipped with a large stable window on both the inside and outside, which captures sunlight optimally. Piles of fresh straw and hay are always there.
In addition, Borgo la Caccia also has an in-house examination and scanning box, washing stations and solaria. This way, routine checks and grooming appointments can perfectly take place on site.
Around the stables of Borgo La Caccia, you’ll find 15 paddocks. With a size of about 2 hectares each, they offer the mares ample space to run and rest. Every paddock holds a shelter, strategically oriented to protect the horses from the sun and the weather elements during all seasons.
We keep our mares surrounded by the best care, in the vast and sunny fields of the Lake Garda region in Northern Italy. On a self-managed property.
At Borgo la Caccia, we aim to create daily routines that feel natural to the horses. That is why we want the mares to graze outside most of the time. Nevertheless, our team makes sure they always have access to their own individual boxes. And if specific situations emerge, they spend as much time inside the complex as necessary.
As social creatures horses are a lot like people. Most of them enjoy the company of others. Our paddocks are spacious enough to accommodate up to 5 mares grazing together.
Our team takes time to understand the mares and their particular needs. We observe and study them. Figuring out which horses like to be together, so we can place them in the same paddock. Taking the time to know and respect them is the foundation of our work — the mares get to choose their group.
The staff of Borgo la Caccia includes an in-house veterinarian and a stable manager, who check on the mares every day. Our team of 6 stable workers is responsible for the feeding, the maintenance of the stables and paddocks, and the group interactions. They spend most of their time out in the fields with the MoMs.
Our nutritionist tracks the weight of each mare on a monthly basis and creates a diet adapted to their specific health requirements. These diets include roughage like hay and grass, supplemented with our personal breeding mix, vitamins and minerals.
Because of their background, many mares feel better with horseshoes. A professional farrier, who visits all the mares several times a month, is also part of our team of experts at Borgo la Caccia.
Each year the dentist team comes to visit for the mares’ dental checkup.
Taking the time to know and respect them is the foundation of our work.
Many mares, especially those who have participated in the competition are used to special care. Anticipating their future needs, professional grooms perform ‘grooming treatments’ every month. During each session, mares are brushed, manes are trimmed, and hoofs are treated.
Recurrent visits by experts and our staff’s 24/7 availability result in a personal bond between our staff and the mares. And enable action without delay.
We strive for an optimal balance between well-being and reproduction by choosing state-of-theart techniques & strict follow-up.
Borgo la Caccia is strategically located near Avantea, the laboratory that is the European leader in farm animal reproduction, and highly regarded in the field of assisted equine breeding.
We arrange weekly scanning at our main stable. The mares are checked by our in-house veterinarian and go to Avantea only when the time is right.
A limited number of OPU sessions are organized per year.
The second Thursday of each month, in the early afternoon, you can participate on a guided tour around our Borgo la Caccia fields to meet the MoMs and visit the stables.
Don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know when you’d like to come to Pozzolengo, Italy.

It feels like our breeding project has advanced three decades in just three years.
After successfully establishing a leading company in the UK, Karen and Christopher embarked on a new chapter in their lives turning their focus to a long-held passion: horse breeding. This project, fueled by both, the joy of watching young horses grow and clear commercial ambitions, became their new venture.
In an interview, Karen shared their experience with Mares of Macha:
“From the outset, we aimed for the very best and knew we needed to work with top-tier damlines. Mares of Macha has truly been a breath of fresh air in the horse breeding world. They make everything easy and straightforward, offering an exceptional selection of mares, assisting with sire selection, and handling all the reproductive work. Thanks to Mares of Macha, it feels like our breeding project has advanced three decades in just three years.”
Since 2021, Karen and Christopher have been dedicated customers of Mares of Macha. Each year, they carefully select embryos, leveraging their extensive market insight and expertise to serve their growing clientele.

Breeder & customer of Mares of Macha
In the early stages of Mares of Macha, Walter made a bold move by acquiring multiple embryos from renowned bloodlines such as Werly Chin de Muze, VDL Groep Eureka, amongst others. This strategic decision ensured that he would have the essential genetics in-house, enabling him to focus on refining and expanding his breeding program. Now, with his first MoM offspring reaching maturity, Walter is ready to advance his breeding efforts, confident in the quality and potential of the horses he has carefully nurtured.
During a recent visit from Klaas, Walter proudly showcased his MoM offspring. With a broad smile and a twinkle in his eye, he watched as the young horses ran freely.
“Next year, I will start breeding with my own Werly Chin-mare,” he shared.
Until then, and hopefully for a long time after that, Walter continues his cherished tradition of visiting our team annually during a trip to Italy. Beloved by all of us, we eagerly look forward to welcoming Walter, his partner, and his nephew for many more years of shared memories and success.
Mikko Hiltunen — Finland
Radiologist Owner of Wildheart Breeding & customer of Mares of Macha
Mikko has been immersed in the equestrian world for over 40 years, breeding his first foal at 21. His passion drives him to track every key competition, result, and statistic, shaping him into an outstanding breeder with a strong vision and well-founded strategy.
“With Mares of Macha, I found the right partner at the perfect time. As competition in the breeding world intensifies, Mares of Macha opened up a completely new world for my passion, enabling me to strengthen my position as a breeder. This collaboration allowed me to work with world-class damlines that I had always wanted for my breeding program, and to combine them with the stallions I trust and value the most,” shared Mikko.
Last summer, during a visit to the MoM Farm, Borgo la Caccia, Mikko unveiled his valuable insights into the mares and stallions he selected. We eagerly look forward to the arrival of his promising MoM offspring from Flip’s Litte Sparrow and Sancha LS, expected to be born next year.
