Woodhouse champions A NINE-STRONG team from Angels Gym in Mansfield Woodhouse came away with world records and personal bests from the World Powerlifting Championships in Coventry. In the under 56kg category, Callum Lakin was world champion. He broke world records with a 145kg deadlift and a total of 337.5kg. There were also world records for: l Martin Cooke, (46), in the masters two weight class 140+kg full power raw category — squat (275kg), deadlift (255kg) and overall (685kg). l Scott Higgins, in the raw open 100kg, with 302.5kg. l Jane Stevenson, (40), masters one weight class 67.5kg, with 180kg deadlift. In the masters four weight class 100kg full power raw category, Kevin Savoury, (56), claimed deadlift and overall total records. Anthony Spalding, (26), won the under 110kg male

Harry Glass, (20), finished second junior in the under 82.5kg full power category, with a 437.5kg total. Kelly Spalding, (24), was second in the under 60kg women’s open with a 70kg squat, 42.5kg bench and 105kg deadlift. John Vincent, (52), lifted 230kg deadlift in the masters three weight class 73kg.
