Head of School Message Dear St. Andrews Dusit Community, This academic year will certainly go down in the pages of history! We started the academic year in school and were fortunate enough to enjoy some school events together such as class assemblies, parent coffee mornings, parent workshops, Christmas Nativities, Sing-A-Longs and even a visit from Father Christmas! In January we experienced a second wave of COVID-19 followed by a third wave in April where once again, we moved to online learning and the way we taught and how students learnt changed overnight. Despite moving online, our school community knew that being together- albeit virtually - was crucial to our children’s wellbeing and success. Students overcame this challenge with the help of their teachers and families and have learnt to adapt to a new way of learning-showing amazing resilience, perseverance, and dedication along the way. We accepted that our world had changed, but as a community, we did not let this stop us; we worked together and developed new skills to ensure that our children continued to thrive. We continue to grow as a school and are excited to be opening an additional Year 2 and Year 5 class next academic year due to a further increase in student numbers. This year our Early Years children benefited from weekly yoga lessons that were added to their specialist provision. Our Key Stage 1 and 2 children also received an additional specialist teacher with art lessons delivered by Miss Emilie, our talented art teacher. We continue to improve our academic program and are looking forward to auditing our curriculum again next year and looking at ways we can weave in opportunities for outdoor education, well-being and opportunities to promote student agency through real life links and projects that help improve our school and local community. It is time for us to say goodbye to our Year 6 students who will be graduating from Dusit this academic year. During their time with us, I have really enjoyed watching these students grow into such caring young individuals and it is true to say that each of these children embody our Dusit Values. Through Buddy Reading sessions with younger students across the school and supporting student play at break and lunchtimes,

these children have shown responsibility, understanding, empathy and leadership skills. Both in and out of the classroom, this class works hard, are united as a team and are totally supportive of each other, driving their peers to achieve their full potential. Although I’m sure that our Year 6 students would have preferred to have spent the last term in school, they have overcome the challenge of online learning with a positive, determined mindset. Year 6, if you can approach every challenge in your life with this same attitude, you will go on to achieve great things and get the best out of life and the next chapter in your educational journey. I am extremely proud of all our students and what they have managed to achieve, particularly after the unsettled year that we have had due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I would like to thank all the parents and staff in our St. Andrews Dusit community for continuing to work together to get the very best for the children in our care. I truly believe that there is no other community like Dusit, and I am so looking forward to us all coming back together in the new academic year and once again being able to enjoy what makes our school so special. I do hope that you enjoy looking through this yearbook and reflecting on the past year and the positive times together. As we come to the end of this academic year, I wish you all a relaxing summer. Please stay safe and take care.

10 Year Service Award

Rajvithi Girls School

Community means everything to us here at Dusit and having members that have been with our school for 10 years really means the world to us. This year we are celebrating the exceptionally hard work and service of Khun Ice our HR Manager, Khun Aon our Facilities Manager, Khun Fai Teaching Assistant, Pi Orn part of our support staff and Ms. Caroline our Head of School. All of these individuals have contributed in making our school the Dusit we know today whether it is holding the hands of the children into school in the morning, creating a safe learning environment, ensuring the well-being of our staff or being a listening ear for our parents, they are always there with a smile on their faces. Our Dusit family thanks you for all you have done for us and all that you continue to do as our endless caregivers!

Extending and expanding our community past our campus walls and into the wider community plays a pivotal role in our campus. Over the last 3 years we have been working with the Rajvithi Girls School to help make some significant differences to support our neighbours. This year in the current challenging times your contributions, generosity and compassion has been relentless and we cannot thank you all enough. As a community we have not only been able to give the girls a fantastic Christmas with your gift donations but we have really been able to make a difference to their day to day lives with new playground equipment, smart boards, freshly painted classrooms and with help from ‘Project Zero Waste’ reusable eco products. The support we receive from our parents and students is truly heartwarming and we couldn’t be more grateful for the kindness we have here at Dusit.

Kids Go To School Compassion and care are two values our Dusit community advocates without fail, so when we have the opportunity to do both it’s no surprise our parents are quick to respond. With kind donations during our Global Be Well Day we were able to raise an outstanding 65,438Baht for Kids Go to school, a brilliant charity that helps children from the Klong Teoy area of Bangkok to gain an education. With their unwavering commitment to providing tuition fees, books, uniforms and transport for children in need, this charity is one that we look forward to welcoming into our Dusit family in future months.

Parent Testimonials Bubble s Family Is St. Andrews Dusit right for my child? The first question came to our mind to move Bubble to Reception at Dusit. Bubble was quiet and shy in the first couple years of school. With a limited number of pupils, Bubble is constantly given the opportunity of joining in activities such as stage performance, swimming galas, GV games, residential trips, a poetry slam and Dusit’s Got Talent shows. All those activities significantly enhance his independence, confidence and responsibility. Dusit is a small community school filled with warm parent-school relationships. With small class sizes, teachers can give more attention to each pupil. Bubble adores going to Dusit every day and we are very pleased with his progress. We sincerely thank the teachers and staff for taking great care of Bubble as well as to Head of School, Ms. Caroline, for setting high expectations and standards for both academic and social learning. Dusit is the best.

Ungweru s Family We chose St. Andrews Dusit upon recommendation from a friend and have never regretted our decision. The school environment is conducive to learning especially for young children given its small size which gives teachers a lot of time to support children. The teaching staff and all staff of the school are very friendly and are always ready to help should we experience any problem. We have seen a lot of improvement in our child from Kindergarten to current class and he continues to master different skills from mathematics, language, science, creativity and sports such as swimming. Security and safety measures including adherence to Covid-19 rules has been good and we feel our child is safe in the school environment.

Theem s Family Encouraging imaginations, supporting learning, safe environment, clean and nutritional food; are the factors that our family is looking for our young ones in early ages. Fortunately, we found all of those factors combined together in just one place, St. Andrews Dusit Campus. Since, we have been the part of this community 5 years ago, our son is eager to go to school every day as he knows that he will find new learning and experiences surrounded by friendly and caring teachers and staff. We are impressed with the super easy approach to all the school members; teachers, officers, school nurse and even Head of School! And we can tell that St. Andrews Dusit never stops developing as we can see new things popping up after every school break. Well, surely that Theem’s younger brother is going to join his brother here in another 2 years!

Genie and Vinnie s Family

Gigi s Family

Our STA Dusit experiences started back in 2011, when our first daughter (Genie) started her first school year in Nursery, followed by our second daughter (Vinnie) in 2014. One of the reasons we chose STA Dusit, besides academic excellence, was because the school is in our neighborhood, our kids do not have to wake up so early and finish everything on the way to school. There is not a single day that our children come to us and say they do not want to go to school. STA Dusit gives our children a wonderful environment, pleasant atmosphere, great fun and plenty of opportunities for your children to explore throughout the years. Our children are shaped and taught to be independent, focused, determined throughout every aspect of their lives and not to forget to be kind and generous to the people around them. Over 10 years with St. Andrews Dusit, we are not hesitating to say that our Dusit Community is really the best. All parents, pupils, teachers and staff are brought together and become acquainted, which is rare to find these days. We are proud to be a part of Dusit Community and also proud of the amazing quality that STA Dusit has put in our children through the years. Our Genie is now in Year 6, and will be moving on to another Campus after this academic year. We totally agree with Genie that we will miss the Dusit community dearly and we would never find any other places like STA DUSIT.

5 years ago, our family had to make a big decision to move Punn and Gigi from an academic-intensive Thai school to an International school. So we considered all aspects whether it be the quality of education, the location, the school atmosphere and more importantly impact on our kids social and academics, and Dusit was our final decision. The school size is just right. It is compact enough for teachers and staff to take care of our kids but still can provide ranges of activities for them to explore and develop their skills. It is worth enough for us to travel back and forth for more than 100 km. everyday. Not only are our kids happy with school, their grandmother also enjoys the newly-built relationship in what she calls ‘The Grandma Club’ while waiting for the kids. Even though on the first day at school, Gigi appeared to be quite shy, Gigi’s transformation has been remarkable as she becomes a more confident girl both in academic and sports proving that joining Dusit is our right decision. So, we would highly recommend Dusit!

Gant s Family Gant has been in Dusit since Nursery and he is currently in Year 6. As a mother, trusting your child’s wellbeing to someone else is a very difficult thing to do but Dusit made me reassured that Gant was being well taken care of. I am totally happy to see my child being guided and nurtured with positive dispositions towards learning and this is because of his teachers and all the staff’s love, care and encouragement. I couldn’t be happier with the support Dusit has offered us and I cannot thank all staff enough for teaching Gant and helping to shape him into the young man he is today. Yearbook 2020-2021

LAHU

St. Andrews International School | Dusit

Each year our House and Vice House Captains are chosen by every student in the school to represent their four house teams; Lahu, Akha, Karen and Yao. We ask that children make a decision based on which child they would like to nominate to lead, support and guide their House throughout the year. Although this year has been a little different, our House Captains and Vice House Captains have set an exceptional example for their House, team and school community. Through their outstanding behaviour, passion and display of our Dusit School Values, they have not only encouraged and inspired their peers, but led by example with care and hard work. ‘Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.’

STUDENT COUNCIL

Our Student Council is made up of an elected body of students that proudly represents the voices and minds of all of our 320 students. Not only do they get to advocate for their peers and pursue causes they’re passionate about, but they also get to action real change within their school. This can lead to changes in their learning environment, their social environment or even their physical surroundings. The Council promotes a sense of community and is key in developing citizenship amongst the students. During their time in the School Council children are given the opportunity to learn from others, encourage teamwork, reflect, improve their speaking and listening skills and develop their resilience; all qualities that will take them further in the future. Dusit students know that this is their school and that their thoughts and voices matter.

JUNIOR LIBRARIANS The Dusit Library is one of the busiest places in the school - used by all students as every class has one or more library slots per week. This means the school rotates books out at an average of 7,000 books per month! That’s impressive as our entire library consists of 6,000 books! In this hub of activity, our Junior Librarians are there to help other students in finding books, recommending books to read, checking books in and out of the system, helping to tidy up the shelves and helping design our display boards. Our Junior Librarians have all been trained to use the Dewey Decimal System so they can easily find topic books not just for students during breaks and lunchtimes, but also when their class utilizes the library!

The Graduates

Year 6 Looking Back

Second I like Dusit because I have many friends. I enjoy Thai language because it is fun. I liked learning about the human body and in science we did a lot of fun experiments. Dusit is a good place to learn where you can laugh a lot. Swimming is fun and you can race with your friends every time. I have learnt how to swim here and now I can swim in the sea. Dusit is a good place but I am excited to see my friends in my new school and to learn more there.

St. Andrews International School | Dusit

Angus Time has gone by so quickly- not that long ago I was in Year 2 where I started my journey but now I’m in the oldest year group in Dusit! It has been such an adventure for me here and we overcame online learning and Covid-19. My favourite memories were made in the Year 2 trip to Pattaya where we went sailing in the ocean. Year 6 this year was great even though we had to learn online – it was still a blast. I remember when I started Year 2 I barely could read English and I wasn’t the best at maths either but over the years I’ve improved through my hard work. I will miss this school a lot and will never forget this place; St. Andrews Dusit is my 2nd home and always will be but I’m ready for the challenges that will come my way at S107. I’m very excited for secondary school!

Beew

Gant

Year 6 was a great year for me because I met new friends, took part in fun activities and more. I liked playing football, tag and basketball. I loved my sports lessons as I got to have a lot of fun with my friends and play new things I never knew I liked. I also got to go to the Green Valley Games. I liked the science experiments because it’s fun and it makes our minds explode – we even made blood this year. I’ve only been here for one year and it’s like a second home. Dusit has been a lovely, kind community ever since I’ve been here. I’m upset that I have to leave Dusit but I’m excited for 107!! :)

I’m Gant from Year 6 and House Captain for YAO. Dusit is my first school and I have been here since Nursery. As soon as I entered I knew that this school was going to be the best for me. The facilities are amazing and I would like to thank this school for making my learning astonishing and the staff for making me feel safe when I step in every morning. It has been a pleasure to be playing sports and doing competitions for this school. I’m heartbroken because I’m saying bye to this school and moving on to secondary school. Thanks to the school keepers, P’Naam all the teachers in this school and the teachers who used to be in school. I’m excited for secondary school but also unhappy because I’m leaving the school that I have grown up in. Thank you for being with me Dusit.

Genie

Namo

I cannot believe that this is my last year at Dusit! I have loved it here since Nursery to Year 6. It was my dream to master this school and I did! I will miss all of my friends. As the highest year in Dusit I wish this school good luck without us Year 6 students. Being at 107 will be fun and I am excited to make new friends! I love Dusit, after all this time I don’t want to leave but at the same time I will never forget my Dusit family.

I can’t believe that I am in Year 6. I am so excited for Year 7. I remember that I played football for my team here and that was one of my proudest moments. In a few months I will play football for S107. It is so hard to say goodbye to Dusit and I feel nervous leaving my friends and teachers behind. It is time for me to move on and meet new people. I have learnt many things in Dusit and time has moved so fast.

Nolan

Rukaiya

Reflecting back 2 years to the time I started in Year 5 my favourite memory was at the Year 6 ‘One Day One Goal’. I loved meeting new teachers and making new friends and doing amazing activities! I feel like I have become more independent and I also think that I have improved my maths skills. I have learnt so many things at Dusit and I have enjoyed learning in this school! I will never forget my wonderful journey here at Dusit and I will miss it in Year 7!

Hi everyone I’ve been here for seven years but my time has run out. Hopefully this school will fly without me and I will fly without it. I will really miss telling stories to my classmates and chatting with them during playtime. I am both scared and excited to leave Dusit as I have made so many memories here. I hope the people who will be in Year 6 will please take my path in a new part in life.

Smart

Tanya

Hi, I am Smart. Teacher always called me ‘Smarties’. I can’t believe I have spent 7 years at St. Andrews Dusit, from reception until now (y.6). I have had a good time with friends and teachers. I feel excited with special days such as day trips in Year 1 and Year 2. I love to learn computer because teachers prepare interesting program for us e.g; word, power point

The first time I stepped into the Year 5 classroom I was nervous and was so scared that I was going to make a mistake or be an embarrassment to the class but when I met the people and the staff it all changed. I have enjoyed my time here at Dusit and with caring and funny people it has made my time here better than ever. Words can’t explain how grateful I am that I have such loving and caring teachers and friends and I don’t regret my choices coming to this school at all. The 2 years I have been here I will always remember these fun moments and I will always cherish them and because of Miss Melisa, Mr. Jack and Kru Dao. I have gained so much confidence to do things I never thought I would accomplish because of these people. I am so grateful that I got to play in the sports team at this school and it has made my two years here go so quickly and with so much inspiration. Thank you so much for being in my life and I will always cherish these moments together.

I love Dusit’s TripsYear 1 – Suan Luang Rama 9 / Year 2 – Safari World / Year 3 – SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World / Year 4 – i-Camp / Year 5 – Royal Varuna Yacht Club / Year 6 – Hua Hin I feel happy because I will make new friends at S107, who will play with me

WOW! That is just a part of it. I have watched you grow from timid little learners in August to confident, caring students in June, ready to move on and up to Year 1. Year 2

Polar Bears Ms. Sana

It has been an absolute honour to have taught all of these incredibly hard working, imaginative, driven and kind children this year. Each of the Polar Bear cubs are so unique in their own way that collectively, nothing could stop them from achieving success! I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

Year 3 Geckos

Ms. Georgia

The Geckos have had an amazing year. We have developed our teamwork skills and it has been a pleasure to teach The Geckos every step of the way. From the Year 3 Camp Out, to trips to museums, we have had a lot of fun learning this year! The Geckos have solved problems, raised money for charity and performed a wonderful assembly. We have enjoyed listening to different stories such as Varjak Paw and celebrating cultural events in school. We were able to care for our class bunny, DB, and this was such a special experience for us all. The Geckos are an amazing team and I am so proud of them. Ask any Gecko and they will tell you, ‘Teamwork makes the... DREAM WORK!’.

Year 3

Hornbills Mr. Simon

Wow, what a year it has been Hornbills! This year we have become petrologists, archaeologists, soil experts, authors, eco-warriors and charity fundraisers! We have studied the history of our planet, how the human body works and Ancient Greece’s impact on our vocabulary. We have learnt different methods in our colourful maths and then explained these with brilliant animations on the computers! We went on our first residential trip this year and showed great maturity in camping away from our parents for the first time! We used all of our science knowledge to explore the world around us and brought lots of rocks back that matched our learning! Keep flying high Hornbills!

Year 4 Turtles

Ms. Laura

What an amazing year we’ve had together in the Turtle Class! So many wonderful memories, from doing maths lessons outside to very ‘hands on’ art projects, and even some trips to an urban farm and an exciting residential trip. We certainly weren’t afraid to get our hands dirty! I hope you’ll always remember the delight and the shock you felt when we followed fictional characters on some incredible journeys through our class books, Oliver and the Seawigs, Arthur and the Golden Rope and finally, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Your enthusiasm has always been so strong, when you grasped new concepts in maths, and when carrying out investigations in science lessons. I hope you will always remember these bright, beautiful moments of Year 4!

It has been a unique journey with you all and I’ve admired how much determination, hard-work and optimism you have demonstrated throughout the year! From Oliver’s Quest, to the Firebird’s mystery, we really have had quite a ride! Thank you for making this another wonderful year at Dusit. You’re all grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

What a year! The pupils of Year 5 have filled every moment of this year with intrigue, wonder and joy and taken every opportunity to develop, grow and learn. They have written stories, solved problems, created works of art and performed assemblies with enthusiasm and passion. I have been so impressed with the way every member of the class has worked together to support the development of the entire class and I could not be more proud of them. I wish them all the best as they continue their journeys.
