EDITORIAL

Our mother earth, or where home is

Thoughts and speculations about earth equally yielded articles on climate change and the need to reconsider the relationship between humans and their natural environment. Respect for nature and the environment is a tendency maintained even in the industry sector. It is advocated by entrepreneurs and laboratory experts as is the case with Olfa Kilani, CEO of Kyto-Prod with whom the magazine had an interview on entrepreneurship and ecofriendly cosmetics

For the 2nd issue of Al-Manara Magazine, our guest is Earth We chose to give a humble homage to this splendid planet, remind of its uniqueness and importance, and highlight the urgent need to protect it, cherish it, and cling to it with all our force, all our sincerity, all our love. Earth is hills, mountains, craters, fields, sky, sand and water It unites natural elements and gathers fauna and flora, celebrating variety, beauty, and bounty Earth is history, geography, past, present, and future, culture, origins, roots, memories, exploits, developments, expectations, dreams, and ambitions. Earth is mother (country), love, affection, care, sacrifice, protection. Earth is home (land); where one has always belonged despite all the odds Notwithstanding the encroachments incautiously incurred on earth, there is room for redress, a chance to remedy all grievances. Repair can be challenging, but it is barely inconceivable. It can start with consciousness raising campaigns and environment-focused debates. The first part of this edition is titled “Mountains &Valleys” Including reports on important academic events and articles on climate related issues, it bespeaks challenges and the determination to overcome them for the sake of a clean, secure, and happy Earth. How pleasing that the vibrant university life has contributed to animated debates on the environment Fseg Sousse, for instance, held its 2nd international conference on Climate Change, Corporate Responsibility, and Sustainable Development” on November (17-19), 2022. Likewise, the MOfid Lab in Fsegso held its regular event on the themes of energy, water scarcity, and food security (May 5-6, 2023). And earlier on March, a hackathon organized by the Arab Institute for Human Rights, took place in Hammamet, inviting more than fifty students to discuss and ponder solutions for water scarcity.

And because Earth also rhymes with mirth, a second part in this edition: “Fields & Flowers”, is dedicated to joy, pride, and celebration. In addition to scientific events and regular research, the faculty encourages student initiatives, innovative projects and cultural and artistic activities which help render ordinary days on this earth just daisy-like Two eminent Fsegso-based clubs in particular have been active this year. There is on the one hand, the Youthink English Club which contributed with study days, workshops, and themed sessions, and on the other, the KEY Club whose activities demonstrated a continued devotion to social commitment and respect for the environment

As far as celebrations are concerned, the faculty happily witnessed two major closing ceremonies which wrapped up two meaningful student competitions launched last year in Fsegso: the MIIE and BESTART Competitions Surely, when earth feels it is taken care of, it pours forth kindness and generosity Those two major festivities recalled faith in youth and revived hope in an engaged, smart, and enthusiastic generation.

There is one more attractive way that allows one to revel in nature’s wonders and earth’s gifts. It is imagination No matter how remote or detached one can sometimes feel, there always comes from a far a genuine call for return; a return to earth, to home, through words, poetry and song The last part on creative writing, “Oceans Deep”, features work by Souhir Ben Zekri, Rafik Romdhani, Rawé Kefi, Amir Chakroun, and Oumaima Kaabi. Cannot imagine a more fitting closure to this issue on earth than this bouquet of writings which celebrate our unique planet, our wonderful abode, the sweetest home we have ever had~

« NOTRE MÈRE-TERRE... »

Quand je pense à l'endroit parfait, j'imagine une chute d'eau en cascade, une vaste forêt, une belle montagne ou un coucher de soleil, chaud sur la plage Je regarde autour de moi, fascinée par l'immensité du monde naturel et respire l'air frais croyant que tous les paysages incroyables existent déjà sur notre mère terre

Au cours de ma vie, je suis arrivée à respecter l'environnement même avec l’effet envahissant de l’ère industrielle et technologique. J’apprécie la beauté de la terre et tous les paysages et les êtres vivants qui m'entourent. Je vois l'environnement comme une mère, un être si cher qu’il est indispensable de le protéger avec toute notre force Je ne comprends pas, d’ailleurs, comment certains arrivent-ils à détruire la terre, notre mère? Ça me semble tellement absurde

La terre est notre mère qui nous nourrit, protège ; c’est elle qui nous donne de l'air à respirer, de l'eau fraîche à boire, des herbes médicinales pour nous guérir A chaque respiration, on bénéficie de l'azote, l'oxygène, la vapeur d'eau et les oligo-éléments de notre planète

Nous devons réaliser que la Terre n'est pas seulement notre environnement La Terre n'est pas quelque chose d'extérieur à nous En respirant en pleine conscience et en contemplant votre corps, vous réaliserez que vous êtes la Terre

Si nous pouvons développer une relation profonde avec la Terre, nous aurions assez d'amour, de force et d'éveil pour changer notre mode de vie

« LA TERRE EST NOTRE MAISON... »

Pour moi, la Terre est notre maison, un lieu de vie où nous avons évolué et prospéré C'est un endroit unique dans l'univers, rempli de diversité biologique et de merveilles naturelles. En tant qu'être humain, notre relation avec la Terre est complexe et souvent contradictoire Nous sommes à la fois dépendants de la Terre pour notre survie et notre bien-être, tout en étant responsables des dommages environnementaux causés par notre activité. Il est donc crucial de prendre soin de la Terre pour préserver son héritage pour les générations futures

« LA TERRE NE MENT PAS... »

On parle trop de changement climatique pour faire allusion à l’environnement et rares sont ceux qui font attention à la notion de la Terre On oublie souvent qu’elle est la base de toutes choses ; « la terre ne ment pas » comme en dit un adage Haouassa Par exemple, pendant la période de récolte, ce que les cultivateurs emmènent, ce sont les fruits de la Terre Historiquement nous sommes une partie de la Terre ; alors nous vivons sur la terre et un jour nous retournerons vers elle Préservons la Terre pour un monde meilleur.

LA 2ÈME ÉDITION DE LA CONFÉRENCE INTERNATIONALE BETA-FSEGSO 2022 PORTANT SUR LE THÈME

« CHANGEMENT CLIMATIQUE, RESPONSABILITÉ SOCIALE ET DÉVELOPPEMENT DURABLE »

LES 17,18 ET 19 NOVEMBRE 2022 À SOUSSE (HÔTEL SOUSSE PALACE)

Cette conférence est soutenue financièrement et logistiquement par la Fondation Hanns Seidel (FHSTU) en sa qualité de partenaire stratégique de la FSEG Sousse au niveau scientifique et évènementiel. Hanns Seidel est une Fondation Allemande qui, depuis 50 ans déjà, continue à agir au profit de l’éducation et de la science en Allemagne, en Tunisie et au niveau International

L’objet s’inspire des valeurs universelles pour promouvoir les conditions de vie en faveur de la dignité humaine et contribue au développement durable par la consolidation de la paix, de la démocratie et de l’économie sociale.

Avec la fondation Hanns Seidel , notre Faculté FSEG Sousse a travaillé en étroite collaboration pour réaliser des divers projets nationaux et internationaux dans l’indépendance des valeurs et en permettant aux structures économiques, politiques et société civile de faire part dans nos conférences ( Conférence BETA- Novembre 2021, Conférence BETA - Novembre 2022, Conférence MOfid-Avril 2022, conférence MOfid-Mai 2023 ) dans le respect de l’éthique scientifique, les valeurs humaines et le développement durable.

A l’occasion de la 2ème édition de la Conférence Internationale BETAFSEGSo 2022, la Table Ronde a évoqué deux thèmes majeurs. Le premier thème porte sur l’innovation technologique pour la lutte contre les changements climatiques et le deuxième porte sur la stratégie nationale de la lutte contre les changements climatiques. Une première séance a été assurée par des jeunes startuppeurs de l’Association Jeunes Leaders dont les projets traitent des solutions technologiques et innovantes des divers aspects de lutte contre les changements climatiques. Cette session a enregistré la présentation de quatre start-ups qui envisagent des stratégies innovantes et intelligentes sur quatre axes : (i) problème des insectes, (ii) robots collecteurs des déchets plastiques, (iii) poubelle intelligente qui trie et compresse automatiquement les matériaux recyclables et (iv) traitement des déchets organiques et production de Biogaz. La Table Ronde conclut de la nécessité de soutenir ces innovations, et de développer le secteur Green Tech dans le futur comme outil indispensable à la réussite de la stratégie nationale de la lutte contre les changements climatiques.

Si la transition écologique doit impérativement passer par des transformations profondes de nos modes de vie, n'oublions pas que l'innovation technologique est stratégique pour accélérer la résolution des problèmes issus de changement climatique.

SYSTÈMES AGRICOLES ET CHANGEMENT CLIMATIQUE :

QUELLES CONSÉQUENCES EN TERMES DE SÉCURITÉ ALIMENTAIRE ?

La 18ème conférence internationale

Mofid s’est déroulée aux dates du 5 et du 6 mai 2023. Organisée par le laboratoire de recherche LR21 ES28, cette manifestation scientifique est devenue une tradition de notre université et de la FSEG de Sousse et a été inaugurée il y’a vingt ans (sous l’appellation JEMOB). L’objet de ces journées est de mobiliser les praticiens et les académiciens, les jeunes chercheurs et les chercheurs confirmés pour traiter d’une question d’actualité et pour réfléchir sur de nouvelles pistes ou nouveaux programmes de recherche.

S’agissant de la version de 2023, les organisateurs ont choisi le titre suivant « Systèmes agricoles et changement climatique : Quelles conséquences en termes de sécurité alimentaire ». Dans l’ensemble, une attention particulière a été accordée aux inputs dans l’activité agricole (énergie et eau) ainsi qu’aux modalités de financement de l’agriculture. Le colloque a été assuré en deux parties. L’objet de la première partie a été de donner l’occasion aux professionnels et aux chercheurs séniors de présenter des conférences afin de rendre compte de l’état des lieux en la matière.

5 ET 6 MAI 2023, HÔTEL SOUSSE PALACE

En somme, le colloque a donné lieu à deux conférences assurées par deux professeurs et qui ont porté sur la dépendance alimentaire (cas de la Tunisie) et la dépendance énergétique ; deux intrants dont la raréfaction peut porter atteinte à la sécurité alimentaire recherchée. Les autres conférences ont été présentées par des professionnels représentant le Programme Alimentaire Mondial dépendant des Nations Unis, l’Organisation pour l’Alimentation et l’Agriculture (agence spécialisée des Nations Unis), le bureau de la planification et des équilibres Hydrauliques du ministère de l’agriculture, des ressources hydrauliques et de la pêche, l’Agence Nationale pour la maîtrise de l’énergie (ANME), l’Organisation de Coopération et de Développement Economique installée à Paris. Une bonne partie de la journée du samedi a été consacrée à la présentation des documents des chercheurs sélectionnés au préalable par des membres du comité scientifique. Ces intervenants ont été répartis en trois ateliers intitulés respectivement, financement de l’agriculture et autosuffisance alimentaire, développement durable, et financement de l’économie. Ces ateliers ont été présidés par des professeurs affiliés aux universités de Tunis, Tunis El Manar, Sfax, la Manouba et Sousse. Les débats ont été très fructueux et ont donné soit à des recommandations d’ordre général soit encore à des recommandations précises à l’attention des jeunes chercheurs pour les encourager à publier leurs travaux.

Nonobstant les cinq professionnels auxquels s’est associé un directeur central à la Banque Centrale de Tunisie (modérateur), les journées ont réussi à intéresser principalement, 11 professeurs, 8 maîtres de conférences, 12 maîtres assistants, 19 docteurs, 15 doctorants et 13 étudiants en mastère de recherche.

Les recommandations pratiques Suite aux débats auxquels se sont associés experts et chercheurs, un certain nombre de recommandations pratiques a été retenu. Il s’agit notamment de

1.Continuer à promouvoir les techniques d’économie de l’eau essentiellement au niveau agricole ; entretenir les réseaux de distribution et les barrages et orienter l’activité vers une production moins gourmande en eau et rééquilibrer la balance externe de l’eau en important plutôt les produits gourmands en eau.

2. Continuer à mettre en place des unités de traitement essentiellement, au profit de l’activité industrielle (voir l’industrie phosphatière ).

3. Conditionner l’autorisation à bâtir par la construction d’une citerne souterraine d’eau pluviale x c.

FSEGSO KEY CLUB : Engagement social et respect de l’environnement

Le Key Club de Fsegso a démarré ses activités pour cette nouvelle année 2022/2023 avec une action qui reflète l’engagement de ses membres et adhérents. En effet, le 26 octobre, le Club a participé à une campagne de nettoyage à la faculté des sciences économiques et de gestion de Sousse car la propreté et le respect de l’environnement sont des valeurs importantes surtout lors de cette journée.

Cette activité a été suivie d’une fo rmation concernant le « Public Speaking » organ isée au profit des étudiants de la Fseg de Sousse le 23 novembre. Ensuite, dans le cadre de l’économie solidaire et sociale, et en collaboration avec le master Administration Economique et Sociale de la faculté, le club a également organisé l’événement :

Enfin, c’est autour des thèmes « Gestion des Conflits » et « Digital Marketing » que deux autres formations intéressantes ont été organisées par le Key Club et ce, respectivement, le 25 janvier, et le 15 février, 2023. Très bonne chance à tous les étudiant(e)s et très bonne continuation Key Club de Fsegso !

INTO THE ENGLISH SPIRIT!” WITH THE YOUTHINK ENGLISH CLUB

The Fsegso YouThink English Club kicked off the academic year 2022/2023 with an important workshop on “Preparing Your Resume” which was followed by a conversation hour on job interviews. The event, held at the faculty on October 22, was in collaboration with Eclipse English Consulting and involved an English Class presented by Jonathan Sedlacek. The presentation allowed for the interaction of students who asked questions and shared comments. Then, the group of native speakers who came with the EEC team, namely, Nicholas Dettman and Hannah Hansen, initiated and led a conversation hour on job interviews with the students, thus giving them a unique chance to practice the language and consolidate their oral skills.

This workshop was followed by another equally unique and important event hosted by the English Club and held on October 26 at the faculty. “Let us Talk about Success” proudly welcomed Dr. Olfa Kilani, Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2022 in Tunisia. In front of an engaged audience, our guest speaker related her experience and shared her success story. During the break, the students Oumaima Kaabi, Ayhem Haj Hassine, Oumaima Sadki, and Minyar Jaouadi gave readings on the theme of success. The event, jointly organized by YouThink Club and the MDS MA was both enlightening and entertaining It gave students a golden opportunity to know further about the world of female entrepreneurship and to be beautifully inspired by a leading figure in this fascinating world.

And because the importance of English as the first international language in the world barely needs to be reiterated, on February 28, the club organized a session on “English as a Medium of Instruction in Tunisian Universities: Opportunities and Challenges” As a first step, this session targeted teachers interested in developing their skills to be able to prepare and deliver their courses in English. The presentation was given by Dr. Kalthoum Kassab and was followed by a focused group discussion which was highly instructive and insightful. Hopefully, this session will be followed by other similar ones that would involve students as well.

It has been a productive year, with a quick English Spirit, no? Long live the Fsegso YouThink English Club which never stops catering to the needs of students and teachers alike, aspiring to meet or even exceed their expectations and enliven their existence.

Al-MANARA MAG : Qu'est-ce qui vous a poussé à devenir entrepreneure ?

Olfa Kilani : Devenir entrepreneure pour moi n'était pas un objectif en soi, c'était juste une façon de passer à autre chose. J'ai toujours travaillé dans la recherche scientifique, et c'est la recherche appliquée qui m'attirait Le fait de concrétiser mes résultats de recherche dans un projet était quelque chose qui me parlait beaucoup Donc ce n'était pas pourdevenir entrepreneure, mais plutôt pour vivre l'expérience de réaliser quelque chose qui res-

pecte mes valeurs et mes principes,et pour concrétiser un rêve qui m'a poussé à devenir entrepreneure

Al-MANARA MAG : Comment avezvous eu l'idée de votre entreprise ?

O. Kilani : L'idée de mon projet est une suite logique de mon parcours universitaire C'est l'idée de continuer et de valoriser mes travaux de recherche sous forme de produits Al-MANARA MAG : Quels ont été les plus grands défis auxquels vous avez été confrontée en tant qu'entrepreneure ?

O Kilani : Notre défi principal a été le Covid- 19, car deux mois après la création de notre entreprise, la pandémie a éclaté. Mais cela nous a permis de réaliser des choses imprévues qui auraient normalement pris des

années en seulement quelques mois.

Al-MANARA MAG : Quel est le conseil le plus important que vous ayez reçu en tant qu'entrepreneure ?

O. Kilani : C'est plutôt une leçon que j'ai apprise : "Business is business !" Il ne faut pas être trop impliqué émotionnellement dans son travail.

Al-MANARA MAG : Quels sont vos objectifs pour votre entreprise à court et à long terme ?

O. Kilani : À court terme, nous souhaitons promouvoir les marques de Kyto-Prod (hygiène, cosmétique, bienêtre) à l'international et donner à chaque marque la chance de se développer. À long terme, nous envisageons de créer le groupe KytoProd Holding, où chaque marque sera une société indépendante.

Al-MANARA MAG : Comment votre entreprise contribue-t-elle à la promotion d'un mode de vie plus sain et respectueux de l'environnement ?

O. Kilani : Kyto-Prod se distingue par son engagement en faveur de l'environnement. L'entreprise adopte une approche respectueuse de l'environnement en minimisant les déchets et en promouvant le bien-être à travers ses produits cosmétiques

Al-MANARA MAG : Comment votre entreprise sensibilise-t-elle les consommateurs à l'importance des produits naturels?

O. Kilani : Pour éduquer et orienter les consommateurs, nous utilisons des mots simples ; nous montrons la différence par rapport à d'autres marques et nous mettons en avant le côté scientifique pour instaurer la confiance.

O Kilani : J'ai toujours un conseil à donner : "Rêvez grand et réalisez vos rêves". Si vous avancez dans la vie sans avoir de rêves à réaliser, sans poursuivre vos rêves, alors vous passez à côté de la vie. Il faut être rêveur, il faut oser et donner le maximum pour se donner la chance de rêver et de réaliser vos rêves !

CÉRÉMONIE DE CLÔTURE DE LA PREMIÈRE ÉDITION DU CONCOURS DES MEILLEURES INITIATIVES INNOVANTES ET ENTREPRENEURIALES : UN ÉVÉNEMENT

Le 3 décembre 2022, l'hôtel El Mouradi Palace a accueilli avec distinction la cérémonie finale de la première édition du concours des Meilleures Initiatives Innovantes et Entrepreneuriales. Cet événement de premier plan, organisé dans le cadre du PAQ- DGSE DREAM de la FSEG de Sousse, a bénéficié de la participation de personnalités prestigieuses. Parmi elles figuraient le Pr. Lotfi Bel Kacem, Président de l'Université de Sousse, Mme Olfa Bouallègue, Vice-Présidente de l'Université de Sousse, M. Anis Bouabid, Doyen de la FSEG de Sousse, Pr. Lassaad Lakhal, ancien Doyen de la FSEG de Sousse, M. Abdelrazzek El Dhaoui, directeur de stages, Mme Hanen Essoussi, chef de département, ainsi que des enseignants, des membres de l'administration et des étudiants de la FSEG de Sousse. Leur présence a conféré à cet événement dédié à la recherche et à la promotion des initiatives innovantes et entrepreneuriales une dimension d'excellence et de soutien indéniable.

Au cours de cette occasion grandiose, cinq finalistes ont captivé l'auditoire en présentant leurs projets respectifs, chacun plus inspirant que le précédent :

Anouar Ksibi, avec son projet "Paveco", a démontré une inventivité exceptionnelle.

Ayoub Hammouda, audacieux porteur du projet "Rezervi", a suscité l'admiration de tous.

Slaheddine Mzoughi, visionnaire porteur du projet "Mercury industry GYM", a fait preuve d'une clairvoyance remarquable.

Tahia Chaabani, talentueuse promotrice du projet "ﺔﻴﻧﺎﺴﻟا" , a révélé une créativité sans bornes.

Wajdi Boufaroi, esprit créatif derrière le projet "MARTILIS", a démontré une capacité d'innovation exceptionnelle.

Ces présentations captivantes ont eu lieu devant un jury composé de personnalités éminentes, dont voici les membres notables :

Mme Hajer Zorgati, maître Assistant à la FSEG et présidente du jury.

M. Mahmoud Menyaoui, enseignant à l'IHEC de Sousse et expert en Marketing.

Mme Amel Brini, directrice du centre d'affaires de Sousse.

Mme Meriem Belkhiria, enseignante universitaire et coach en entrepreneuriat.

M. Hbib Messaouidi, directeur exécutif de l'association de microfinance "Jawhara tanmia et tamweel".

Après des délibérations empreintes de passion et de réflexion, les récompenses ont été attribuées de la manière suivante :

Le premier prix a été décerné au projet "MARTILIS", en reconnaissance de son excellence et de son potentiel remarquables. Ce projet a été élaboré sous la direction de Mme Hanène Essoussi, Le projet "Mercury industry GYM", encadré par Mme Balkis Boussetta, s'est vu décerner le deuxième prix, témoignant de son esprit d'innovation exceptionnel. Enfin, le troisième prix a été remporté par le projet "Paveco", en reconnaissance de son audace et de son potentiel

entrepreneurial. Ce travail a été réalisé sous la direction de Mme Sana Kaboudi.

En conclusion, il est crucial de souligner le rôle primordial d'une équipe organisatrice exceptionnelle dans le succès de ce concours, pour lequel l'appel à candidatures a été lancé dès le 30 avril 2021. Sous la présidence de M. Kamel Garfa et la coordination de Mme Sana Kaboudi, cette équipe était principalement constituée de :

Enseignants déterminés et motivés de la FSEG de Sousse, notamment M Rafik Letaief, Mme Balkis Bousetta, Mme Hanene Essousi, Mme Hajer Zorgati, Mme Olfa Ben Fadhel, Mme Nesrine Lachaal, M Imed Nouri, Mme Rihab Souguir, Mme Asma Zaghdane et Mme Nadia Manousr Nous souhaitons mettre en évidence l'implication particulière de M Sami Becha lors de la sélection des projets candidats, ainsi que la générosité exemplaire de Mme Amira Chaouech, Mme Amel Brini, M. Mahmoud Menyaoui, Mme Samia Noureddine et Mme Imene Aouichaoui qui ont apporté aux étudiants des informations, des conseils et des formations inestimables.

To whom will you extend your hand, tree if you are consumed by the flickering flames? You are standing alone like the black of a corpse between the mirror of water from underneath and the hanging glass of heaven above. To whom will you sway again so soon? Who will wipe the ashes off your neck, O tree if it's not the feathers of fearful birds roaming around the banes of their bleakness like wandering minds burnt up by the sweeping summer of illusion? To whom will you bloom again, poetry while words with a whole lot more to say are floundering in a trap set by art's enemies in their absolute selfishness. They burn the arms of nature and wrap language's weapons in the shroud of a gesture.

To whom will we extend our hands other than our own shadows which are stumbling behind us and crushing our fires?

Earth, do not expect Man to take pity on you. He mercilessly treads upon you, spilling his fellow mortal's blood to and fro. Man comes from your mud and water which he uses to build a furnace inside himself to burn your sundry images. That is only what he is here for. He ignores that his flesh is from the mobile kingdom of your own flesh that hangs around the radiant face of the sun, and acquiesces in the dictations of the moon. Man forgets that his memory is rooted in the molecules of water rich in tunes.

O Earth, do not expect anyone whose heart shelters only fire to take care of teetering trees on the edge of a handsaw. Do not expect your sea, which has become a vast laboratory for nuclear tests underwater, to be a rough wing, poison-free. You have nothing to fear, earth!

You have nothing to lose. But deep down in your core you have it in for us all. You don't even need our care because you know how to care about yourself, how to make us pay the bill on your behalf.

What can we learn from this blessed rain?
