The Darfield Genealogy and Local History Group held their thirtieth Birthday in October, at the Sheffield Hotel. Excellent food and a congenial layout helped the group come together to celebrate many long years. Present were past and current members, and of course there were many memories of things done over the years. Margaret Copland, a Heritage Storyteller entertained those present with a Members of the Darfield Genealogy and Family History Group story about Universal Suffrage in from its earlier days: L to R: Beryl Hatton, Sally Brown, New Zealand and especially Janet Taege, Bev Clarke, Wilma Webster, Averil Bull, Women's first vote in 1893. Heather Holloway, Bev Robb, Lorraine Rowe, Nola Fantham. “All told it was a really good celebration,” said co-conveners Bev Robb and Wilma Webster. Webster It's now a new decade for the Group and they still hold their meetings on the last Tuesday of the month in the Darfield Library. Over the winter months, meetings are held on Saturday mornings.
