Hot air balloons are travelling from all around New Zealand and Buster the Bulldog balloon has landed from the UK! In days leading up to the event ten visiting balloonists will take to the skies with Ballooning Canterbury. They will then be the main attraction in the centre of the Hororata Glow Festival as they perform a choreographed ‘Night Glow’.
While the hot air balloons are the centre attraction the magical festival surrounding their performance is set to wow the young and young at heart. Glowing performers are practicing, University of Canterbury are preparing their interactive science demonstrations, Capitol City and Bad Revivals bands are polishing their set lists, stalls holders are busy organising their products and one hundred and thirty volunteers are busy setting up to welcome everyone to our community!
This is a community run event staged by the Hororata Community Trust in association with Ballooning Canterbury.
“The Hororata Glow Festival is put on by our community, to benefit our community. The support has been amazing and humbling, people have really got behind us. We were blown away to be sold out a week before the event. It is exciting to be able to host such a unique event in Hororata, this is like nothing else. We can’t wait to glow with everyone,” said Hororata Community Trust Executive Officer Cindy Driscoll .
