FELTME SLIPPERS

Wool is one of the world's oldest, most sustainable and renewable fibres in the world. With New Zealand having proudly produced wool for many generations and herself being a sheep farmer, Nicolle Hughes was frustrated with the limited choices of wool slippers and products. Feltme was started after Nicolle began researching and procuring beautiful wool slippers. Feltme Slippers are 100% Handmade Merino Wool Slippers that come in a range of twelve colours and unisex sizes, making them a perfect pair for all people.

Nicolle, alongside her husband Kyle and their three children, Fraser (9), Hadley (7) and Cate (5) farm sheep and beef just outside of Glentunnel. Wool is now sadly no longer a viable income stream for them and most other farmers. This has made many farmers and producers look at other ways to utilise wool and try to reinvigorate the passion for using this amazing fibre.

“I love wool, and it's such a shame that we don't use it more in our everyday lives like in the past. It would be great to see people fall in love with wool again and enjoy its amazing benefits,” commented Nicolle.

The wool for the slippers is currently purchased on the international market, felted in one of the oldest factories in Germany and finally lovingly handmade in Slovenia. Feltme Slippers mold to your feet, have a nonslip natural leather sole, non-odorous and temperature regulating, they are proving very popular with customers. The fun bright colour range is a nice change from the perceived view of wool is boring.

With new products being designed, Nicolle is looking forward to expanding the range and continuing to promote wool. The whole range of slippers will be available to view and purchase at the upcoming Hororata Glow Festival, stall #54 or check out www.feltme.co.nz with free local delivery available.
