HIDDEN
Jaw-dropping dance-circus.
Internationally renowned dance-circus company
Motionhouse returns to Malvern Theatres, with its brand-new production
Hidden. Hidden explores how, in an increasingly divided world, light can come out of darkness in times of crisis.
At times narrative, and at others abstract, Hidden is a powerful blend of artforms. At the cutting edge of live performance and digital integration, gravitydefying choreography, a pulsing soundscape and a shape-shifting set are drawn together by digital projections into a living film. In this shadowy world, can hidden voices ultimately push through to the light?

Prepare to hear Aled Jones as you’ve never heard him before.
He was the boy treble who captivated the world with his angelic voice. Selling over seven million albums, Aled was the original, classical crossover star. Musical accompaniment will be from an array of some of the UK’s leading West End singers and musicians led by Musical Director Duncan Waugh.
Beloved comic actor Dudley Moore (1935-2002) was also a dazzling jazz pianist and a composer of wit and depth. The Chris Ingham Trio revisits Dudley’s evocative and appealing 1960s jazz in a rich, rewarding presentation packed with striking music and fascinating anecdotes. VESPERS
by Candlelight

If you are new to the Vespers, think of his divine Symphony no 2, but performed by voices, and you won’t even get close to how incredible this is! Just 110 years ago, what is widely praised as Rachmaninov’s greatest achievement and the greatest achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church was created. The composer managed to find a way of turning the choir into an orchestra, both texturally and dynamically. The music was so personal to Rachmaninov, that he requested the ‘Nunc Dimitis’, the fifth movement be sung at his funeral. In the exquisite late evening candlelit setting, be transported by what is simply the most gorgeous choral music ever to have been written, and for a moment in time, simply nothing else in life will matter.

J. S. BACH MASS IN B MINOR
ARMONICO CONSORT & BAROQUE ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR CHRISTOPHER MONKS

It could be argued that J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor should have been titled ‘Bach’s Greatest Hits’, for that is what Bach himself aimed to achieve with this masterpiece. Composed over the final 25 years of his life and completed just one year before he died, the Mass is scattered with music and references that Bach considered to be his best work, or movements which he had allowed to develop over time and had returned to ‘perfect’ at a later date. Never performed complete in his lifetime, the work is in effect Bach’s own self-obituary, how he wanted to be remembered by the world. If you have never heard it live, this is absolutely one concert you must not miss.
‘It is the best of him, and that brings out the best in us.’ (Christopher Monks)
