This summer, Malvern Theatres Young Company returns to the stage with Brontë, Polly Teale’s powerful reimagining of the extraordinary and turbulent lives of the Brontë sisters.
In 1845, their brother, Branwell Brontë, disgraced and consumed by addiction, returns to the family home. As his descent into alcoholism and madness threatens to engulf the household, his sisters Anne, Charlotte, and Emily fight to hold their world together, finding escape and resilience through their writing.
In this gripping literary detective story, Polly Teale explores the fractious bonds between the Brontë siblings and the fierce creative drive that would leave a lasting legacy. First brought to life by the acclaimed Shared Experience theatre company in 2010, Brontë offers a compelling glimpse into the complex relationships, passions, and ambitions of three of Yorkshire’s most celebrated authors.
Directed by local actor Toby Burchell, this bold new production showcases the talent and spirit of Malvern Theatres’ own vibrant Young Company.

Following last year’s success of Fame the Musical, Malvern Theatres Young Company presents Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic rock-opera Jesus Christ Superstar in August 2025.
A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events, but seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as Superstar, I Don’t Know How to Love Him and Gethsemane
This talented young company, directed and choreographed by Beyond the Barricade Company’s Andy Reiss and Katie Leeming, will bring to life a fresh and dynamic take on this classic story that will capture the attention of all audiences.

J. S. BACH Mass in B Minor
ARMONICO CONSORT & BAROQUE ORCHESTRA
DIRECTOR CHRISTOPHER MONKS

It could be argued that J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor should have been titled ‘Bach’s Greatest Hits’, for that is what Bach himself aimed to achieve with this masterpiece. Composed over the final 25 years of his life and completed just one year before he died, the Mass is scattered with music and references that Bach considered to be his best work, or movements which he had allowed to develop over time and had returned to ‘perfect’ at a later date.

‘It is the best of him, and that brings out the best in us.’ (Christopher Monks)

By Bus
Local bus services stopping under 200 metres from the theatre are run by First Group, who run routes to and from nearby towns and villages as well as to Worcester City and Hereford. To plan your journey, please see www.firstgroup.com.
To limit disturbance to audiences and artists, latecomers can only be admitted at a suitable break in the performance. For certain events, it may not be possible to admit anyone once the performance has started. Please note that readmission during the performance cannot always be guaranteed and you may not be able to return to your original seat.

A Sennheiser hearing assistance system is available in all four auditoria and can be accessed with or without a hearing aid. Free receivers and headsets can be collected from the cloakroom from 30 minutes prior to the beginning of a performance or screening.

The services of the theatre ushers and programme sellers are kindly given voluntarily by members of the Malvern Theatre Association.

Relaxed performances and film screenings are specifically designed for people who find regular performance settings challenging. We extend a warm welcome to people who feel overwhelmed by the ordinary performance environment. These relaxed performances are open to anyone who would benefit from a relaxed, non-judgemental atmosphere including (but not limited to) people living with dementia; people with an Autism Spectrum Condition; people with learning difficulties; people with sensory or communication difficulties; parents with young babies; and anyone who feels they would benefit from a more supportive and inclusive experience.
