Returning the Love
Debbie & Bob Reardon ‘82
Throughout their lives, Bob and Debbie Reardon have emphasized the importance of a Catholic education to their children. “We wanted to encourage our children to walk in the path of kindness, compassion, hard work, and care of others. For us, that’s the foundation of family life,” said Bob. “I knew that the values I had received as a young man at Malden Catholic developed those qualities in me, as well as a strong Catholic worldview, and nothing pleased us more than to have our children benefit from a similarly rich Catholic ethos.” Catholic education is a well-woven tradition in the Reardon family fabric. As faithful parishioners at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Medford, they attended the parish school. Bob’s own mother, Kathleen Cafferty Reardon, was a Girls Catholic alumna from the Class of 1958. Kathleen, in turn, made sure that her children would enjoy the benefits of the Girls Catholic and Malden Catholic experience by enrolling her three children. Bob graduated in 1982 from Malden Catholic, followed by his brother, Patrick, in 1984. His sister, Noreen, graduated from Girls Catholic in 1986.
“My siblings and I were all blessed to receive the education that our mother and grandmother wished for us,” Bob commented. “Bob and Debbie have channeled this sense of blessing in an on-going way through their sustained support of good work of Malden Catholic,” says Malden Catholic Headmaster Mr. John Thornburg. For this we are thankful! For the last several years, in memory of his mom, Bob has provided scholarship assistance, easing the challenge of tuition for deserving students. As strong supporters of our St. Francis Xavier Society, Bob and Debbie continue to return the gift they have been given!
While at Malden Catholic, Bob loved playing basketball and ran cross county. According to Bob, Track Coach Brother Myles McManus and Basketball Coach (later Headmaster) Tom Arria provided incredible, supportive, and encouraging experiences for him on the playing field, as well as in the classroom. He also credits his accounting teacher, Sister Norma, for the guidance and inspiration that propelled him into the next stage of his life as a Certified Public Accountant.
Following graduation from Merrimack College, Bob served as a CPA for the first 5 years of his career (for the firm now known as RSM). He has since become a serial entrepreneur with more than 10 start-up companies across various industries. Currently, Bob serves as chairman and CEO of Insight Service Group, Inc., the largest national medical-and-fraud services partner to the insurance industry.
Bob and Debbie currently reside in Winchester, Massachusetts and Palm Beach, Florida. They have three children, Bobby (25), who graduated from Boston College Carroll School of Management and is currently a Director of Mergers and Acquisitions at ISG; Sochia (23), who graduated from Northeastern D’Amore-McKim School of Business and is living and working in New York; and Shannon (21), who is a senior at Boston College in the Carroll School of Management.
Bob has served on many educational boards including those of the Fenn School, Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, St Sebastian’s School, and the Boston College Leadership Council.
“Malden Catholic,” Bob proudly proclaims, “will forever be the beginning of my success as a young man, a friend, husband, and father, and I can’t overstate its influence on my life! Plus Ultra!” “Malden Catholic is an institution that fosters a community of faith, a love of God, a concern for the poor and marginalized and a sharing of personal gifts and talents.”
