Welcome to Mak! Warm Greetings to all Maketewah Membership and Staff, By way of introduction, my name is Seana Hue, and I am honored and thrilled to join the beautiful and historic Maketewah Country Club as your new Membership and Marketing Director. It is my pleasure to be working at Maketewah, and I look forward to communicating the many assets and experiences of your esteemed private club. A very sincere thank you to Mark Bechtel, John Earls, and Tim Warning for entrusting me with this exciting opportunity. I earned my English Literature and Graphic Communications Bachelor Degrees from Northern Kentucky University and University of Cincinnati DAAP. I live in my hometown of Park Hills, Kentucky, with my three college-aged daughters and our beloved collie dog. My professional work includes working in and developing brand messaging for a variety of businesses in both the agency and luxury hospitality industries. From my very first jobs as a lifeguard at Ft. Mitchell CC in NKY, and the Westin Hotel Cincinnati, to my more recent roles directing marketing and communications for Cork N Bottle Fine Wines & Spirits, then Kenwood Country Club, I have always enjoyed listening to people’s stories, interacting with, and building relationships with Members and Guests. I love to learn, and constantly seek new stories to tell, activities to do, and cultures to explore, near to far. I take time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life – my loving family, exploring different foods and wines, photography, playing tennis, and volunteering on my community Board. I look forward to learning more about the Club, and getting to know each of you. See you soon!

Fitness 101 By: Paul Bodenbach MA., FAFS, FMR, GPS Competitorsedge@msn.com (859) 802-2235 Are you preparing your body as completely as possible for the movements of your daily and preferred activities. Movement in the body occurs at the joints. The joints are set up to perform primary movements. But, they’re also capable of other movements in lesser ranges of motion. To prepare the body to move better, all of the movements of a particular joint should be trained. Movement analysts describe joint movements in three different planes. They are forward/backward, side to side and rotation. To properly train a joint to perform it’s duties to the fullest one must train all of the movements available at that joint. Let’s look at the knee. It’s primary function is a forward/backward. However, it also rotates and does a small amount of side to side movement. It’s normal function incorporates all three planes of movement. If one trains and conditions the knee in only the forward/backward plane of motion the complete function of that knee is compromised. This scenario becomes more problematic if one attempts to isolate the knee joint when conditioning it. All of the joints in the body work together in an integrated system. Therefore, to more completely prepare any joint in the body one should train all of it’s planes of motion while eliciting help from neighboring joints. Training the joints through their proper planes of motion in conjunction with it’s associated joints in proper time enhances performance exponentially. The best methods to accomplish this is to mimic movements one wishes to improve. Like that of a tennis serve or golf swing. Then, use exercise bands or light dumbbells to accomplish the movement. That way the movement is trained and conditioned for the activity which one wishes to improve.
