LETTER FROM THE CEO AND BOARD CHAIR – 35 YEARS OF WISHES This past year marked 35 years of granting wishes in our local community. We hope that you enjoyed celebrating with us at our Birthday Bash this past April! Together, we have granted more than 6,300 wishes to children living in our community since our inception in 1983. We closed fiscal year 2018 (September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018) with 340 wishes granted. Additionally, we facilitated 633 wish assists for those coming into our territory from around the globe. That’s nearly 1,000 life-changing wishes created! Each of you played a role in creating these impactful experiences for our wish families this past year. These wishes don’t just happen, it takes generous donors, a committed board, passionate volunteers and a dedicated staff to create this kind of magic for our wish children. As we look toward the future, we remain committed to granting the wish of every medically-eligible child living in our community. As our wish pipeline grows, we need to have the support from our local community, donors, volunteers, medical professionals, neighbors and friends to continue to provide the resources needed to create these impactful and life-changing experiences. A wish gives children renewed energy and strength, brings families closer together, and unites communities. Our wish children are filled with imagination and each wish experience is unique to every child. These moments leave a lasting impact on wish children and their families. Parents often tell us that the experience leaves their child happier, more confident and renewed to overcome every obstacle. This year, with your support, we were able to create 340 life-changing wishes for local children battling life-threatening medical conditions. In addition to granting local wishes, we assisted with granting the wishes of an additional 633 children who came from all over the world to have their wishes granted in our region.

Our work brings joy and healing to those who are receiving wishes — and those who help grant them. As a volunteer it takes many moments to create life-changing experiences for our wish children. It takes hard work, patience, love and dedication to create memories that will last a lifetime. Encompassing Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, these volunteers help grant a wish every 25.7 hours. This year 639 volunteers supported our mission delivery, 319 of them as wish granters. When you add in the support of nearly 38 volunteer interns complementing our paid staff throughout the year, our volunteers contributed more than 10,200 hours in fiscal year 2018, accounting for more than $300,000 of donated time!

Giving to others is the best investment you will ever make. The donations we receive play an invaluable role in our ability to serve wish children and their families. These contributions give us the momentum we need to reach our goal of granting the wish of every medically-eligible child living in our community. Every year, Make-A-WishÂŽ Orange County and the Inland Empire creates lifechanging experiences for hundreds of incredible children thanks to generous contributions from individual donors, corporations and community organizations. In 2018, Make-A-Wish used approximately 74.8 percent of all contributions to grant wishes.
