The son of the late Ian Dury has carved out a niche of his own with latest album Happy Soup. Just the sort of artist to suit the roster at Exit07. n an interview with The Guardian in 2005 shortly before the release of his second album Floor Show, Baxter Dury explained that he “loves making music and adores playing live”, but that he “doesn’t necessarily want to hang out in an atmosphere of lairiness.” Contrary to what one might expect given his wild roots – he is the son of the late rock ’n’ roll singer and Blockhead Ian – Dury presents himself as a mellow, amiable fellow. Six years later, Baxter comes out with an album that proves that he has stayed true to his principles: Happy Soup is calculated, tame, distinctly more uplifting
