Problems We Solve

Pumping Joints

Construction joints can allow water to infiltrate beneath the pavement, which, over time, can result in 'slab pumping', leading to the slab's loss of support and inevitable failure.

Misaligned Slabs

Misaligned or uneven floor slabs cause trip hazards and create an unsafe and rough ride for forklifts.

These issues not only jeopardise safety but also impede smooth operations.

Sunken or Dished Slabs

Sunken or dished floor slabs can significantly impact operational safety and efficiency.

These issues can lead to out-of-vertical racking and create hazards for forklift operations, compromising workplace safety and productivity.

Ponding Slabs

Leaking or burst water pipes beneath pavements can cause subsidence of supporting soils and loss of support, ultimately leading to failure.

Teretek® Injection Process

material is injected, quickly expanding to fill voids and compact loose or weak sub-grade soils.

Continued injection raises and re-supports the slab.

The treated slab sections are returned to operation immediately after the injection work.

Small holes are drilled through the slab within the treatment zone.

Durability

Based on extensive research and experience of Teretek® and in combination with accelerated ageing tests comprising mechanical stresses, heat, moisture, temperature cycling, and chemical, mechanical and biological degradation, it was concluded that Teretek® materials under geological conditions will maintain their mechanical properties for well in excess of 50 years.

Environmental

Based on several environmental impact studies of Teretek® materials to soil and groundwater, it was concluded that the Teretek® materials are environmentally inert and do not generate leachate.

Chemical Resistance

The chemical resistance of Teretek® materials has been investigated by way of immersion testing. The degree of swelling has been used as a measure for the material’s chemical resistance. Teretek® materials are very stable and resistant to a broad range of chemicals often encountered within the wide range of industries served.

Floor Re-levelling

Before

Problem

A major hardware retailer in Queensland encountered significant floor settlement across approximately 5,000 m2 due to the subsidence of the supporting soils. This settlement required continuous adjustment and realignment of extensive shelving systems with the business constantly shimming and packing, negatively impacting functionality and business operations.

Solution

Mainmark was engaged to correct the issue by raising and re-levelling the floor area and restoring the shelving system back to within design specifications. The aim was to eliminate the need for shimming and ensure a flat, even floor for customers.

Execution

Mainmark executed the project with precision and efficiency. Mobilising multiple self-contained Teretek® Rigs and having the team operating exclusively during non-trading hours to ensure minimal impact on the retailer's operations. This approach also enabled routine restocking procedures to continue without stock relocation or removal.

Result

By successfully re-levelling the floor area, Mainmark restored the functionality of the hardware retailer's premises and ensured a seamless customer experience. Eliminating ongoing realignment tasks has contributed to improved operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Problem

A premium Australian tea producer observed the movement of warehouse floor slabs under a forklift and truck traffic loading. This instability raised safety concerns for loading and unloading operations, warehouse racking performance, and overall operational efficiency.

Solution

Mainmark's expert team assessed the situation and identified voiding beneath the floor slabs, with deflection of up to 10 mm under load. Using specially designed Teretek® material for traffic loading applications, Mainmark technicians injected the treatment zone to fill voids and restore support between the floor slabs and supporting soils. The selected Teretek® material characteristics and mechanical properties were ideal for achieving flow and minimising unwanted uplift. The treatment was efficiently completed within a single day, allowing the treated areas to return to full operation immediately without interrupting warehouse operations.

Result

By stabilising the warehouse floor, Mainmark ensured enhanced safety for loading and unloading activities, optimised warehouse racking performance, and improved overall operational efficiency.

Warehouse Floor Stabilisation

Case Studies

Roadway Stabilisation

Before After

Problem

The roadway slabs of a busy transport yard faced issues, including voiding, loss of support, and differential settlement due to subsidence of supporting soils. This subsidence, coupled with open construction joints, allowed surface water ingress, causing the roadway slabs to 'pump' with every passing vehicle. The need for a fully operational yard was urgent.

Solution

Mainmark proposed using a proprietary engineered resin injection solution, Teretek®, to address the challenges. This involved filling voids to reconfirm support, eliminating the deflection of the slabs under load, raising and relevelling the sunken sections, and remediating cracked pavement.

Result:

Mainmark efficiently completed the project in a single day, reducing both time and costs compared to traditional removal and replacement methods. The transport yard's roadway slabs were rendered safe for heavy truck traffic, ensuring uninterrupted operations and minimising disruption to the busy hub.

Forecourt Ponding

Problem

A service station in Northern NSW encountered significant settlement of 50mm within its forecourt slabs. During wet weather, this settlement caused ponding, disrupted drainage, and posed safety and operational risks, particularly as the settled slabs were positioned directly over buried bulk fuel storage tank.

Solution

Mainmark devised a comprehensive solution involving targeted Teretek® injection to re-level the forecourt slabs while ensuring safety protocols around the buried fuel tanks. Multiple Teretek® products were utilised: the first injected directly beneath the slabs to fill voids, restore support, and correct drainage gradients. The second, a more expansive product, was injected into supporting soils to enhance bearing capacity and long-term performance.

Result

Mainmark's technicians efficiently executed the forecourt re-levelling, completing the project in just three injection shifts. Despite the complexity of the solution, the station's daily operations remained largely unaffected, with minimal inconvenience to the public. The successful re-levelling mitigated safety and operational risks, ensuring the continued smooth functioning of the service station.
