Maimonides School’s Updated Talmud Curriculum
Deep, meaningful Torah study is core to our identity at Maimonides School. Students are able to study in the way that best suits them. New this year, Maimonides offered all high school students 4 different Talmud class options. Each class still meets 8 periods a week with a teacher. The four options are: •
High Honors or “matmidim” features 1 additional learning session each week. This option is for students who wish to maximize their learning and probing of the depths of the Talmud, going above and beyond with extra class meetings with their teacher.
•
Ivrit B’Ivrit, where all instruction is in Hebrew
•
Conventional Talmud class that has always been offered.
•
A new option which will give more attention within the same Talmud periods to the Jewish law applications of Talmud study. Students will study and examine legal outcomes of the Talmud beyond the Talmud itself.
These courses are taught in mixed cohorts of 9th and 10th grade or 11th and 12th grade which give the added advantage of students expanding their social interactions.
Maimonides School Talmud Curriculum is taught on a 4 year cycle. These 4 years include: 1 year related to chagim, 1 year related to civil law, 1 year on shabbat and 1 year on kashrut.
Maimonides Upper School Student Support
