everyone’s hearts; and the ideals of tzedakah, communal responsibility, and social action are part of daily life.

OUR MISSION is to produce religiously observant, educated Jews who will remain faithful to religious beliefs, values, and practices as they take their place as contributing members of general society.

the path to deep-rooted Jewish identity Our students are proud of their Judaism and have a mature understanding of their religion. Maimonides supports our students as they explore the tensions between observance and secular modernity. Our distinction is that we engage deeply and openly with their natural questions about their Jewish journey, laying a solid foundation for a lifetime of deep ownership of, and commitment to, halacha.

“Maimonides has been instrumental in establishing the foundation of my Jewish belief system and core values. I am the man I am today because of all that Maimo offered me during my four great high school years.” Bradley Baskir ’10, Management Consulting Manager

a life committed to Torah and middot Torah and middot form the core of life at Maimonides School, in classrooms and lunchrooms, on playing fields and in science labs. Every day begins with the beauty of communal prayer. Chagim are occasions for celebrating together. Students gather for serious discussions of Jewish texts and put the middot they are studying into daily practice.

“One thing I love about teaching English to Maimo students is that they are unfailingly interested in what it means to be a moral person. As a result, every class discussion and writing assignment has meaning and weight because students are always grounded in larger questions about what individuals can and should do to better the world around them. Dr. Megan Hamilton, Middle and Upper School English Faculty

lifelong friendships and a strong community From their first small steps into the Early Childhood Center to their walk across the stage at graduation, our students feel the embrace of a welcoming and supportive community that extends well past their school-age years. Maimonides has an extensive network of alumni, many of whom are now the parents and grandparents of current Maimonides students and leaders in their own communities.

“There is nothing like the friends you meet at Maimonides, and we have watched with glee the chevra our children have developed over the years.” Sheera ’76 and Ahron ’76 Solomont

to stand with Israel Israel holds a special place in the hearts of Maimonides students. Our connection to the land is interwoven through the entire curriculum, one of the key factors which defines who we are as a school and distinguishes us as an institution.

did you know? • Approximately 85% of our young alumni spend a year in Israel after graduating • Close to 350 alumni live in Israel

Jewish values Chesed and tzedakah are ingrained in daily life, manifested in students’ compassionate relationships with each other and the wider world, and their willingness to take action. This includes visits to the elderly, recognition of those who build community, and supporting programs that serve all members of the community. In addition to class projects, individual students often rally for a particularly meaningful cause.

“Yom Chesed is a fantastic day filled with ruach and giving back to the community. It’s a day that’s not specifically about any one individual but about a community as a whole that successfully comes together to make a difference.” Stef Mishkin, parent

an exceptional balance of Judaic and general studies “Judaism is an experience of intoxicating beauty, enriching and inspiring the heart.” More than 30 years have passed since our founder Rabbi Dr. Joseph Soloveitchik zt”l made that observation, but his words form the core of life at Maimonides. Both the Judaic and general studies programs provide the highest level of content and skills, with each informing the other, giving students daily opportunities to apply their Judaism to real-world situations.

“I proudly describe my alma mater as deeply influencing my worldview, my role in my work, and my appreciation of Jewish society as a whole.” Rabbi Yaakov Green ’98, Head of School, Akiba Academy of Dallas

honor and respect for the uniqueness of each child Grounded in the philosophy of founder Rabbi Dr. Joseph B. Soloveitchik zt”l Maimonides strives to nurture and challenge the many facets of a child’s intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual development. Our dedicated educators seek to stimulate each child’s inherent curiosity and to engage every student in an educational experience that will continue to be a source of inspiration and personal growth for years to come. Each child is seen and known for their own magical uniqueness.

“I am proud to be a teacher at Maimonides because we continue to push for best practices in education and put students at the center of our work.” Dani Carrus, Teacher

“It means so much to me to send my children to the same school that has been an integral part of the foundation of my Modern Orthodox life. To see my children thrive under Maimonides’ continual guidance and strong values gives me so much joy. It’s like coming home.” Israela (Levine) Kahan ‘99, Parent and Alumna
