Cruyff Court in the name of Stefano Borgonovo Johan Cruyff and Stefano Borgonovo: two men for sport, for young people, for research, for charity. Stefano Borgonovo, who was killed by the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in 2013, is in the heart of everybody and he will stay there for long, also thanks to the Foundation which carries his name and promotes the research to fight this terrible disease. His wife Chantal is doing a lot and thanks to the intervention of the Dutch champion Johan Cruyff, she can turn Stefano’s dream into reality: to build soccer fields where all the children can freely play and learn the values of respect and integration. They are called “Cruyff Courts”, fields in AstroTurf with everything the children need to use these places for free. The goal is to let young people understand respect, integration and responsibility on the field and outside the field. The Cruyff Foundation built 190 similar projects all over the world and the one in via Leoni in Como is the first one in Italy. On 10th November many people took part at the inauguration, institutions, citizens and people of the sport: Franco Baresi, Roberto Galia, Silvano Fontolan, Van Ginkel and the former champion of the Inter soccer team Javier Zanetti, who is now a manager of Inter. During the ceremony, Zanetti stressed that “the importance of the values and of the education for the children, for this reason this initiative is great and appreciable.” Three times winner of the golden ball, Johan Cruyff was very satisfied: “I am happy that the first Cruyff Court in Italy is dedicated to a person like Borgonovo, we remember him for his strong personality on the field and outside the field”. “When I was young – he stressed – we could play on the road, now it is no more possible, therefore we

have to build safe places where kids can play away from dangers and temptations”. Chantal Borgonovo remembered the words of her husband: "Stefano always said that children are all equal, therefore the opening of this field is a great honor for us”.
