Got it covered… n 1985 Henry Wilden and John Masters launched Suffolk Carpet Weavers in Ipswich. 2015 and the business is now celebrating 30 successful years trading. The business is known across Suffolk for manufacturing quality wool twist pile and bespoke carpets. Until 2011 they were made on-site but a move to Martlesham into a bigger and better showroom was needed and manufacturing moved to Milton Keynes.

The carpets are made of high quality British wool (80%) and nylon (20%). Suffolk Carpet Weavers also deal with nearly all of the major manufacturers, meaning there is a carpet to suit all budgets from £6 a square metre to £250.
John’s son, John Paul, has now joined in the running of the business. ‘He has been on the fitting side for 11 years, but in the last year he has started working in the shop on sales and organising fittings’, explains John.
The team are happy to advise customers and there’s no pressure to buy. If you have a spare piece of carpet you’d like to be edged and turned into a rug, Suffolk Carpet Weavers can do it on site. They also offer premium vinyl floor tiles in wood or stone, which are proving very popular at the moment. Fitting of both carpets and flooring is also available – the business has been using the same group
‘We’ve just revamped the showroom to give us more display area, because the business is growing so well’, explains owner, John Masters. As well as offering bespoke carpets of all different colours and patterns, the company makes a large selection of rugs. ‘That is a growing part of the business’, he added.

More than 80% of business comes from returning customers or recommendations, and John puts that down to his and Henry’s knowledge and their ability to say ‘yes’ to most people’s needs: ‘we’ve got busier and busier over the last few years’, he adds. ‘Business has been going from strength to strength since we moved into larger premises. We’d like to thank all of our customers for supporting us over the years’.
