ince its inauguration as a New Town in the years following the Second World War, Basildon has grown into one of the most

important commercial centres in Essex. But like many of its fellow post-war creations, it has never won a great deal of love and reached the turn of the new millennium needing a lot of TLC to bring it up to date. It wasn’t until 2012 that a master plan was approved by the council to regenerate the town, with hundreds of new homes central to the proposition alongside a re-vamped town centre, new amenities and the intention of introducing an ‘evening economy’ to inject millions of pounds into local businesses.
