# todoesposible Agustina llegó a Fuerteventura hace unos 4 años, última parada hasta la fecha de un viaje muy intenso que emprendió desde su Argentina natal, cuando tras estudiar derecho y trabajar en distintos bufetes de su ciudad, desarrollándose profesionalmente, empezó a percibir que había en el puzzle de su vida una pieza que no encajaba: no sentía el crecimiento personal que anhelaba.
Esa pieza, ese inconformismo que muchos sentimos en ocasiones, la llevó a buscar otros caminos. Así, en 2010, se estableció en Valencia, donde estudió filosofía oriental durante años y se introdujo en la práctica del yoga, cuyas enseñanzas calaron profundamente en su manera de vivir y de entender cuanto le rodeaba, «ya todo empezaba a cobrar sentido en mi vida». Siempre tuvo entre sus aficiones escribir, pero no fue hasta 2014 que tuvo la idea de esta novela y el tiempo para materializarla: «quería contar algo que tuviera un mensaje útil para aquellos que quieren ir más allá de los límites que su propia vida parece tener, a experimentar aquello que realmente siempre han querido vivir, emprendiendo el interesante camino de enten.4
der como funciona nuestra mente». Así empieza a gestarse #todoesposible. Un libro que, como nos comenta Agustina, «si bien podría estar en la estantería de autoayuda de las bibliotecas, tiene una perspectiva más narrada, más atractiva, relatada a través de un personaje que nos trae su propia vivencia de auto descubrimiento, para que el lector pueda identificarse con su proceso». ¿Es una novela autobigráfica? ¿Es tu propia experiencia la que relatas? No, no es puramente autobiográfica, es una ficción, aunque hay cachitos de mí y, por supuesto, de personas que conozco en muchos de los personajes. Bueno, en
realidad sí que hay un personaje basado enteramente en alguien que conozco, alguien de aquí, de Fuerteventura, y estoy deseando que esa persona se reconozca y me lo diga (risas). Háblanos sobre #todoesposible, una pequeña reseña. Se trata de una viaje, una aventura a la que la protagonista se entrega, adentrándola en el mundo del autodescubrimiento, y que termina desvelándole los secretos de una vida feliz. Un mensaje de esperanza, con sencillas indicaciones para iniciar este camino de conocimiento personal. Es una novela fresca y muy fácil de leer y que nos lleva a la idea de que #todoesposible.

PRIMERA NOVELA DE DE AGUSTINA CADEL
Tiene que ser gratificante ver, finalmente, tu novela publicada, ¿ha sido un largo camino? Si, fue un proceso largo pero muy enriquecedor y entretenido y del que he disfrutado cada segundo. Empecé a escribirlo en el 2014, lo terminé en 2016 y, desde ese momento, he estado editándolo, siempre que sentía el deseo de hacerlo, sin obligaciones ni horarios. A nivel personal, ha sido una experiencia creativa muy gratificante. En abril de este año lo presenté por fin, en la Feria del Libro de Barcelona, después en la Semana del Libro de Fuerteventura y a día de hoy estoy en pleno proceso de promoción. Lo que más he disfrutado de todo esto fue el proceso de materializar algo que parece lejano, desde que tuve la idea de emprender este viaje hasta tener el libro aquí impreso. Así que sí, #todoesposible. Es además una novela ilustrada, con preciosas ilustraciones de Ilaria Morresi (@ilalovesmowgli), ¿qué aporta esto al relato? Ila es una gran ilustradora, y ha capturado en imágenes hermosas lo que yo pintaba en palabras. Nos pusimos a trabajar y nos entendimos enseguida. Decidimos que estas ilustraciones no mostraran a los personajes para que el lector pudiera volar e imaginarlos libremente. Estoy muy feliz con el resultado. ¿Donde podemos conseguir #todoesposible? En casi todas las plataformas digitales, en mi página web www.agustinacadel.com, y aquí, en Fuerteventura, está disponible en la librería Tagoror. Aunque también se puede pedir prácticamente en todas las librerías del país, y por supuesto, yo lo tengo... y los míos van con dedicatoria. ¿Tienes entre manos alguna futura publicación? Tengo un libro de cuentos en marcha, nada que ver con esta novela, pero cada cuento tiene una especie de mensaje que te hace pensar, dirigido a un público adulto. Y por supuesto, tengo la segunda parte de #todoesposible en marcha, que no es realmente una continuación pero si una bifurcación en el mismo personaje protagonista. Deseando ver sus futuras publicaciones, nos ponemos a leer su primera novela, a emprender ese camino que nos lleve a entender e interiorizar que #todoesposible.

The first novel by Agustina Cadel Agustina got to Fuerteventura some four years ago. This has been her last stop up to now in a very intense travel she set out on from her native Argentina. After studying law and working in different lawyers’ offices in her native city, developing professionally, she realised that in the puzzle of her life there was a piece that didn’t fit: she couldn’t feel the personal growth she longed for. That piece, that non-conformism many of us occasionally feel, led her to look for other paths. So, in 2010, she settled down in Valencia, where she studied oriental philosophy for years and she introduced into the practice of yoga, whose teachings really determined her life style and her understanding of everything around her, «everything started to make sense in my life». Writing was always among her hobbies, but it wasn’t until 2014 that she had the idea of writing this novel and the time to materialise it: «I wanted to write something that could be useful to all those who want to go beyond the boundaries their own lives seem to have, to experience that which they’ve always wanted to, setting out on the interesting trip of understanding how our mind works». This is how #todoesposible starts to take shape, a book that, as Agustina tells us, «though it could be among the self-help book shelf in libraries, it’s got the shape of an attractive narration told by a character that brings us her own self-discovery experience so the readers can identify their own process. Is this an autobiographic novel? Is it your own experience you’re telling us? No, it isn’t purely autobiographic, it’s fiction, though there are pieces of me in it and, of course, I recognise myself in many characters. Well, actually there is a character who is entirely based on someone I know, someone from Fuerteventura, and I’m looking forward to that person recognising themselves and telling me (lol) Tell us about #todoesposible , a little review. It’s about a trip, an adventure the main character embarks on and leads her into the world of self-discovery and ends up by revealing the secrets of a happy life. A message of hope, with plain explanations to initiate this path of personal knowledge. It’s a cool novel, easy to read and leading us to the idea that everything is possible. It must be gratifying, having your novel released at last, has it taken long? Yes, it’s been a long but rewarding and entertaining process of which I’ve enjoyed every single second. I started to write it in 2014, I finished it in 2016, and from that moment I’ve been editing

it every time I’ve wished to, without obligations and timetable. At a personal level, It’s been a very gratifying and creative experience. In April this year I finally presented it in the book fair in Barcelona; then, in the Book Week in Fuerteventura, and nowadays I am in full process of promotion. What I’ve enjoyed the most been the materialisation of something that seemed distant, from the day I had the idea of embarking on this trip to the moment I’ve had the book printed, so, everything is possible. It’s also an illustrated novel, with beautiful illustrations by Ilaria Morresi(@ilalovesmowgli), What does this contribute to the story? Ilaria is a great illustrator, and she’s caught, in beautiful images, what I was depicting in words. We set down to work and we understood each other right away; we decided not to show the characters in these illustrations so the reader could fly and imagine freely. I’m happy about the outcome. Where can we get #todoesposible? In almost all the digital platforms, in my web site www. agustinacadel.com, and here in Fuerteventura it’s available in Tagoror bookshop, although you can order it in almost all the bookshops in the country and, of course, I have it… And mine includes a dedicatory. Have you got any future publication currently on the table? I’ve got a story book in full swing, nothing to do with this novel, but every story has a kind of message that makes you think, addressed to adult readers. And of course, I have the second part of #todoesposible on the go, which isn’t exactly a continuation but a split of the same main character. Looking forward to seeing her future releases, we set down to reading her first novel, to embark on that trip that leads us to understanding and internalising that actually, everything is possible.

CAMPEÓN DE ESPAÑA DE SURF ADAPTADO Texto de Eloy Vera
«LAS BARRERAS EXISTEN PERO MI OBJETIVO ES ROMPERLAS» Marcos Tapia nació en Madrid hace 44 años, pero a los dos años se mudó, junto a sus padres, a Gran Canaria. En las islas descubrió el mar y el surf. Con 18 regresó a Madrid. Trabajó como técnico de helicópteros hasta que un accidente de moto le produjo una lesión medular que le dejó en silla de ruedas. De aquello hace ya 16 años. Un día pudo regresar a las islas, retomar el surf y convertirse en un deportista de pódiums en la categoría de surf adaptado. Se ha convertido en campeón de España de surf adaptado; ha obtenido el oro en el Internacional Adaptive Surf Open, realizado en paralelo al Campeonato de Europa donde obtuvo el bronce. ¿Cómo llega al mundo del surf? De pequeñito. Con seis o siete años mis padres me regalaron un bodyboard y lo practiqué hasta los veintidós. Luego lo fui dejando. Lo retomé hace once años, después del accidente, cuando mi hermano vino a vivir a Fuerteventura. Empecé a venir asiduamente a la isla para practicar surf adaptado. Antes de eso practicaba buceo, tenis, paddel, esquí, vuelo sin motor… ¿Por qué decide, tras el accidente, volver a practicar surf? Siempre tenía un sueño recurrente que era ir a coger olas. Viajaba a Las Palmas y cuando llegaba el día siempre pasaba algo: se estropeaba el coche, esperaba un amigo que tardaba…se hacía de noche y no podía. Tenía ese sueño obsesivo de querer volver a coger olas. Algunos amigos me comentaron la posibilidad de retomar el surf con el bodyboard. Lo intenté, pero no pude. Tampoco vivía en las islas y no tenía la oportunidad de prueba y error. Entonces, en una ocasión, supe que en Play and Train hacían surf adaptado y me animé a hacerlo. El día que lo practiqué pensé esto se puede hacer. Contacté con ellos una segunda vez y al tercer día ya estaba haciendo mi tabla. .6

¿Qué supuso volver a practicar el surf? Mi vida ha cambiado mucho. He decidido que quiero vivir en Fuerteventura para hacer surf. El surf adaptado ha cambiado ciertas ansias que tenía como el volver a surfear e, incluso, cambiar de sitio para vivir. Ahora quiero vivir en Fuerteventura. ¿Cómo está la situación en Fuerteventura para la práctica del surf adaptado? Hay sitios mejores y otros peores. No todas las playas están habilitadas y las que lo están son para bañistas. En las otras, tenemos que buscar las artimañas y eso es siempre con ayuda de Eva, mi novia, o de alguna otra persona que me ayude a entrar. Hay playas que no son de arena y hay que pasar otra barrera, las rocas. Hay algunas que son accesibles, aunque hay una rampa que te deja a mitad de la playa y de ahí hacia adelante no puedes hacer nada más a no ser que haya un anfibuggy y los servicios de socorrismo, pero sólo están en temporada alta. Hago un llamamiento al Ayuntamiento de La Oliva para que Piedra Playa tenga un acceso habilitado para las personas con movilidad reducida. Es una playa propicia para el aprendizaje. Ahora mismo usted y su pareja Eva trabajan para hacer realidad el proyecto Alohanesia, ¿en qué consistirá? Es un programa multideportivo. Tendrá un lugar físico en La Oliva para la rehabilitación de personas con discapacidad física donde se oferten todos los deportes que yo puedo practicar como buceo, paddle surf, kitesurf y luego practicar yoga, por ejemplo el yoga aéreo. Queremos difundir que es muy beneficioso para personas con alguna disfunción física. ¿Qué supuso proclamarse campeón de España de surf adaptado? Era el sueño que quería cumplir desde hace cuatro años. Sin embargo, el destino no me dejaba tenerlo. Me ha constado más de lo que la gente ve. La gente no ha visto esa cara oculta de cinco operaciones y el año que he estado de reposo absoluto y no he podido hacer deporte. Llegué muy justo al Campeonato de España, con un mes de entrenamiento en el que también tuve una trombosis y una hemorragia en una pierna. Un mes complicado. La alegría fue mucho mayor que la que podía esperar porque el camino me había puesto muchos obstáculos. ¿Cuál será la próxima cita deportiva? Ahora se abre un circuito con campeonatos. Citas importantes como el mundial que se hace en diciembre. Entre ellos, hay campeonatos de asociaciones y fundaciones. Al ganar el Campeonato de España me aseguré el Campeonato de Europa que fue hace unas semanas en Viena Castello, en Portugal, donde se hicieron dos .8
MARCOS TAPIA ADAPTIVE SURF SPANISH CHAMPION «Barriers exist, but my target is to break them» Eloy Vera Marcos Tapia was born in Madrid, 44 years ago, but at the age of 2 he moved, with his parents, to Gran Canaria. In the islands, he discovered the sea and surf. When he was 18, he returned to Madrid. He worked as a helicopter technician until a motorbike accident damaged his spinal cord and he became a disabled person. It’s been 16 years since then. One day he could go back to The islands, resumed surf and became a top athlete in the category of adaptive surf. He has become an adaptive surf Spanish champion. He’s got the international gold of Adaptive Surf Open, which took place at the same time as the European Championship, where he won the bronze.
How did you get to the world of surf? When I was very young. Being six or seven my parents gave me a bodyboard and I practised until the age of twenty-two. Then I left it. I resumed it eleven years ago, after the accident, when my brother came and settled in Fuerteventura. I started to come to the island regularly to practise adaptive surf. Before that I used to practise scuba diving, tennis, paddle, ski, gliding... Why did you decide to resume surf after the accident? I always had a recurring dream which was catching waves. I used to travel to Las Palmas and when the day broke, something always happened: the car broke down, I was
waiting for a friend who was taking long to arrive… the sun was setting and then I couldn’t surf. I used to have this obsessive dream of wanting to catch waves. Some friends recommended resuming surf on the bodyboard. I tried but I couldn’t. I didn’t live in the islands either and I couldn’t have the chance of trial and error practice. So, once I knew that in Play and Train they taught Adaptive Surf and I dared to do it. The day I tried it I thought: «you can do this!» I contacted them one second time and the third day I was already making my own board. What did resuming surf mean to you? My life has changed a lot!!! Una fue un open, con gente de todo el mundo, no solo europeo, donde fui medalla de oro y el Campeonato Europeo, exclusivamente para gente de Europa, donde obtuve el bronce. ¿Qué retos quedan por cumplir a Marcos Tapia? El mundial. También se habla del surf adaptado como modalidad paraolímpica. Sería mi sueño ganar en un paraolímpico. Aunque aún no hay fecha para saber cuándo será olímpico. Tengo otros retos deportivos como practicar otros deportes adaptados como el kitesurf. Hacerlo de forma autónoma y poder enseñarlo. Y también deportes que creo que no puedo hacer y llegar a hacerlos. ¿Se apoya el surf adaptado? No se apoya. No tengo ningún tipo de sponsor. Todo corre de mi cuenta y los gastos son grandes. El circuito se está ampliando y me gustaría participar en todos, pero me gustaría encontrar a alguien que me apoyara económicamente para poder participar en todos esos eventos. ¿Para Marcos existen las barreras? Existen pero mi objetivo es romperlas. Y para ello uso la voluntad y las ganas. Conseguirlo es una recompensa muy grande. Muchos piensan que es difícil o hay que estar hecho de otra madera, pero no. Para mí hay otras barreras más grandes como barrer o cocinar en la situación en la que estoy, se hace y pero no tenemos esa recompensa.
Fuerteventura to practise surf. Adaptive surf has changed certain urges I had, like surfing again and even moving in and settling down. Now I want to live in Fuerteventura. What is the situation like for the practice of adaptive surf in Fuerteventura? Some spots are better than others. Not all the beaches are fitted out as such and the ones that are, are for swimmers. In other beaches, we have to look for some tricks, always with the help of Eva, my girlfriend, or of some other people who help me to get in. Some beaches aren’t made of sand and we must cross another barrier, which are the rocks. Some of them are accessible, though there is a slope that leaves you in the middle of the beach and you cannot do anything else beyond it, unless there is an adapted vehicle for disabled people and life-saving services, but they only work in the high season. I call for La Oliva town hall so Piedra Playa be made fully accessible for people with reduced mobility. It’s a highly suitable beach for learning. Right now you and your partner, Eva, are working on the realisation of the Alohanesia proyect, what does it consist of? It’s a multi-sport programme. It’ll have a physical place in La Oliva for the rehabilitation of disabled people where all the sports I can practise will be offered: scuba diving, paddle surf, .10
kitesurf and then yoga, for example, aerial yoga. We want to spread that it’s very beneficial for people with any physical dysfunction. What did becoming a Spanish champion of adaptive surf mean to you? It was a dream I wanted to make true already four years ago. However, destiny didn’t let me get it. It has been harder than people believe. People haven’t seen the dark side of five operations and the year I’ve been in absolute rest and I haven’t been able to practise any sports. I’ve got to the Spain Championship not fit enough, just one month of training, and during that month I suffered a thrombosis and a haemorrhage in the leg. That month was even complicated. The happiness was bigger than I could expect, as I had found many obstacles in my way. What will your next sport appointment be? Now there will be a series of championships. Important events such as the world championship in December. Among them, there are championships of associations and foundations. When I won the Spain Championship I made sure I would take part in the European one, some weeks ago in Viena Castello, in Portugal, where there were two competitions. One of them was an Open, with people from
all over the world, not just European, and where I won the gold medal, and then The European championship, just for Europeans, where I won the bronze one. What challenges does Marcos Tapia have to fulfil yet? The world championship. Adaptive surf is becoming a Paralympic modality. Winning the Paralympics would be a dream, although there isn’t a deadline to know when it’ll become a Paralympic. I also have other sport targets, like practising other adaptive sports such as Kitesurf, practising it on my own and being able to teach it. There are, but my target is to break them, and with this purpose I use my will power and attitude. Reaching a goal is a great reward. Many people think it’s really difficult, that you must be a different kettle of fish but your mustn’t. To me, there are other bigger barriers, like sweeping or cooking in this situation, as we do it and we don’t get any rewards.

de la Clínica Dental de Lajares Desde muy pequeño le atraían las manualidades, disfrutaba con tareas que implicaban mucha atención a los detalles, construía sus herramientas y jugaba con ellas, montaba y desmontaba, le encantaba reproducir figuras en materiales plásticos. Tenía claro que en su futuro debía dedicarse a algo que implicara habilidad manual y atención a los detalles. Fue a los 14 años cuando Christian Lavelli comenzó su carrera profesional en el mundo de la odontología. «Empezé formación profesional de Protésico Dental, ciclo formativo no necesario para tener el título de Odontólogo, ya que normalmente se accede a la carrera desde lo que aquí se llama bachillerato. Gracias a esta
escuela aprendí a trabajar materiales como la cerámica, a realizar prótesis dentales y adquirir habilidades de laboratorio que a día de hoy me ayudan habitualmente y me permiten explotar al máximo mi profesión, especialmente de cara a mi especialidad, Estética y Reconstrucción. Tras mucho estudio, accedí a la Università Statale di Milano, licenciándome en Odontología». Entrevistamos a Christian Lavelli, propietario de la primera clínica dental de Lajares que lleva su mismo nombre. ¿Cómo llegas a Fuerteventura? Durante mis estudios y mi vida laboral nunca abandoné mis otras pasiones: la montaña, mi origen, con el free-ride y el esquí; y el mar, mi presente, con las olas y el wind-
surf. En cuanto podía me escapaba... Australia, Austria, norte de España y, por supuesto, Fuerteventura. Aprovechaba las oportunidades laborales que se me ofrecían en hospitales públicos y clínicas privadas, tanto en Italia como aquí en la isla, y hasta llegue a tener una clínica durante un par de años en mi ciudad natal. Pero mi cabeza siempre estaba en Fuerteventura. En su océano y su viento y en los momentos mágicos que me regala cuando estoy en el agua. Así que finalmente me mudé y se me presentó la oportunidad de abrir mi propia Clínica en el lugar que ya sentía como mi hogar, idea que siempre había tenido en mente. ¿Cuál es tu especialidad como dentista? Soy Especialista en Estética y Prótesis, de hecho en Italia colaboré con dentistas especialistas en estética de fama internacional, médicos referentes para el mundo del espectáculo y la moda. Y también soy especialista en Odontología Preventiva y Conservadora, mi prioridad es evitar la necesidad de extracción y mantener funcionales piezas dentales que de otro modo deberían quitarse. Lo que mas me gusta de mi trabajo es ver como mis pacientes se benefician del PREVENIR, CURAR, PROTEGER y CONTROLAR sus propias piezas dentales naturales. En la clínica prestamos especial atención a la cura y prevención de las patologías mas comunes, como la parodontitis; nos caracterizamos también por una atención personalizada en lo que se refiere a cuidados, tratamientos y estética, según las necesidades de cada uno. ¿Hay alguna clave para conseguir la «sonrisa perfecta», cuidados básicos a tener en cuenta? Es más fácil de lo que se piensa. Es imprescindible una correcta higiene dental, cepillarse los dientes dos-tres veces al día durante dos-tres minutos, utilizar hilo dental, realizar revisiones periódicas cada seis meses y abandonar el hábito del tabaco que tanto estropea y oscurece el color natural. ¡Unos dientes blancos y cuidados rejuvenecen el rostro! La típica duda, ¿qué tipo de cepillo es mejor, manual o eléctrico? El cepillo eléctrico sin duda facilita la higiene bucal, pero los mismos resultados se obtienen con el cepillo convencional: lo importante es la técnica de cepillado.

From the Dental Surgery in Lajares From a very early age he felt attracted to handicrafts, he enjoyed tasks that meant paying attention to details, he made tools and played with them, set up and dismantled them, he loved reproducing figures in plastic. He had no doubt that in the future he would devote to something which implied manual skills and care for details. It was at the age of 14 that Christian Lavelli started his professional career in the world of Odontology. «I started my vocational training as a professional dental technician, which wasn’t necessary to get the dentistry qualification, as you usually access to this degree through higher secondary education (Bachillerato). Thanks to this school I learnt to work materials such as ceramics, to make dental plates and to acquire laboratory skills that often help me nowadays and allow me to explore my profession to the full, most of all my speciality: cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. After hard study, I could enter the Univerdità Statale di Milano, and I got my Odontology Degree». We interviewed Christian Lavelli, owner of the first dental surgery in Lajares, named after himself. How did you get to Fuerteventura? During my studies and my working life I never left my hobbies, the mountain, my origin, freeride and ski; and the sea, my present, with waves and windsurf. I made a quick trip whenever I saw a chance: Australia, Northern Spain, Austria and, of course, Fuerteventura. I took advantage of the job opportunities they offered me in public hospitals and private surgeries, in Italy and the Islands, and I even had my own surgery for a couple of years in my home town. But my mind was always in Fuerteventura, in its ocean and wind and the magic moments it gives me when I’m in the water. So, in the end I moved in permanently and I had a chance to set up my own surgery in a place I already felt as my home, an idea I’d always had in mind. What is your speciality as a dentist? I’m a specialist in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, actually, in Italy I worked with internationally renowned specialists in cosmetic dentistry, referring doctors in the world of entertainment and fashion. I’m also a specialist in preventive and conservative dentistry: my priority is avoiding the need to remove, and to keep functional teeth that should be removed otherwise. What I like best in my job is to see how my patients benefit from: PREVENTING, HEALING, PROTECTING AND CONTROLLING their own natural teeth. In our surgery we pay special attention to healing and preventing the most common pathologies, like periodontitis; we also characterise for a customised attention regarding dental care, treatments and cosmetic dentistry, tailored to each patient’s needs. Are there any keys to getting the prefect smile, basic care? It’s easier than you think. A right dental hygiene is essential, brushing your teeth twice or three times a day for three minutes, using dental floss, getting regular dental check-ups every six months and giving up smoking, which spoils and darkens the natural colour or the dental enamel. White and well looked after teeth make you look younger! The typical doubt, what’s better, manual or electric teeth-brush? No doubt the electric one favours dental hygiene, but the same results can be achieved with a conventional teeth-brush. The most important thing is the tooth-brushing technique. DR. En mi libro «Una Cita Contigo», menciono un experimento que se hizo hace algún tiempo, en donde se utilizaron dos manadas de Dóberman.
A la manada 1 le pusieron un collar que desprendía unas descargas eléctricas cada vez que intentaban correr por instinto detrás de algún animal. A la manada 2 le dejaron actuar por instinto natural, por lo que cada vez que querían correr, podían. ¿Qué crees que pasó al final? Descubrieron que la manada cohibida desarrolló un 50% más de cáncer / tumores y otras enfermedades que la manada 2. Además, esos dóberman desarrollaron una actitud más triste y solitaria y, como consecuencia, tuvieron una vida más corta. ¿Por qué les hablo de esto? Sencillamente porque nosotros no somos tan distintos a los dóberman. Lamentablemente, muchos de nosotros desarrollamos enfermedades varias y vivimos eternamente buscando eso que nos falta y no sabemos ni porqué. Si tú, como yo, has pasado por fases de di-satisfacción en tu vida, tal vez sea el momento de que te preguntes cuáles son tus valores y si verdaderamente tu vida está alineada con ellos. Para explicarlo mejor, les voy a poner un ejemplo personal. Hace unos meses, cuando todavía estábamos en precampaña, algún partido político me ofreció la posibilidad de trabajar con ellos y por su puesto, me sentí muy halagada. Cuando llegué a casa y se lo comenté a mi marido, él me dijo: «Elena, ésta es una gran oportunidad para poder ayudar a muchas personas, pero cuidado porque tal vez tu situación actual no sea la más acertada en estos momentos para tanta responsabilidad».

Eso me hizo pensar y entonces saqué un papel y bolígrafo y comencé a apuntar un listado con todos mis valores: 1. Libertad (siempre empiezo por este valor) 2. Crecimiento 3. Contribución 4. Paz 5. Tranquilidad 6. Tiempo libre para escribir 7. Poder ir a Gran Canaria cada mes 8. Etc. Cuando finalicé mi lista, en seguida me di cuenta de que, por ahora, mi marido tenía razón: la política no estaba alineada con mis valores. Como podrán ver, es cierto que si hubiera decidido empezar a hacer pinitos dentro de este mundo tan fascinante, hubiera tenido un gran crecimiento y podría haber contribuido muchísimo. Pero ¿Hubiera tenido paz? tal y como está el panorama, no lo creo. ¿Tranquilidad? ¿Libertad? ¿Tiempo para mí y mis viajes a Gran Canaria? Si estás en un punto de tu vida, en donde te sientes mal y no sabes por qué, te recomiendo encarecidamente que hagas este ejercicio, que, aunque parezca sencillo, es muy revelador. MIS VALORES

A VALUABLE LIFE HAS VALUES! In my book «Una Cita Contigo», I mention an experiment conducted some time ago and involving two groups of dobermans. The dogs of group 1 wore a collar that gave them electric shocks any time they tried to run after some animal instinctively. The dogs of group 2 were left free to act with their natural instinct, so any time they wanted to run, they could. What do you think it happened at the end? They found out that the inhibited group was 50% more likely to develop cancer, tumors and other illnesses than group 2. Moreover, these dobermans developed a sadder and lonelier attitude and, as a consequence, they had a shorter life. Why do I talk about this? Simply because there is no much of a difference between us and dobermans. Unfortunately, many of us develop various illnesses and we always live searching what we do not have and we do not even know why. If just like me, you have been through periods of dissatisfaction in your life, this may be the moment to ask yourself what values you have and if your life is in line with them. To explain it better, I will give a personal example. A few months ago, during the pre-campaign, some political party offered me the possibility to work with them and, no doubt, I felt flattered. When I got home and told my husband, he said: «Elena, this is a great opportunity to help many people, but be careful, because maybe your present situation is not the idealest for such a responsibility». This made me think and so I grabbed a pen and a sheet of paper and I started writing a list with all of my values: 1. Freedom (I always start with this value 2. Growth 3. Contribution 4. Peace 6. Spare time for writing 7. The possibility to go to Gran Canaria every month 8. Etc. When I finished my list, I immediately realised that for the moment my husband was right, politics was not in line with my values. As you may see, it’s true that if I had decided to move the first steps in such a fascinating world, I would have had a great growth and I could have helped a lot. But would have I been at peace? This being the situation, I don’t think so. Tranquillity? Freedom? Spare time for me and my trips to Gran Canaria? If you are in a point in your life where you feel bad and you don’t even know why, I strongly suggest that you do this exercise that may look simple, but it is very revealing. MY VALUES
