Forty years ago, I began this odyssey with a simple belief: that Asian women deserved to be seen, not just for their beauty, but for their intelligence, leadership, and cultural pride. As Miss Chinatown USA in 1981, I learned how a title could open doors and spark a lifelong sense of purpose. In 1985, I founded what is now the Miss Asian Global Pageant to offer the same opportunity to other young women so that they could grow, shine, and discover the strength within themselves.
Building this pageant with my OG’s Janice, Penny, and Julunda over the decades has been a labor of love. From hand-written applications and mailed communications through USPS to digital forms and livestreams, our team evolves with the times. Back then, we relied on expensive long-distance calls, late nights with graphic artists for the souvenir book, and year-round visits to cultural events, sponsors, and community leaders to form relationships. President Vincent Ma and Leadership Director Francis Kong have transformed the pageant to meet the needs of today’s young leaders. They are guiding us into the next era. Today, our new generation of leadership runs with creativity, innovation, and the support of modern technology—but the heart of this pageant remains unchanged: it is a sisterhood rooted in mentorship, purpose, and representation.
I’m deeply grateful to the thousands of sponsors, hundreds of volunteers, and all the remarkable delegates who have contributed to this legacy. Together, we built more than a pageant—we built a family. I’ve seen women go on to lead in business, media, medicine, and community advocacy. I’ve seen quiet confidence bloom into powerful voices. And I’ve been inspired every step of the way by the resilience, brilliance, and spirit of our community. As I step back to let the next chapter unfold, I do so with full faith in the passionate leaders who now carry the torch—and with a full heart, knowing the dream continues.
With gratitude and friendship,
Rose Chung Founder, Miss Asian Global Pageant

ETHEL REDDY
In 2014, I had the honor of assuming leadership of this pageant, founded by the visionary Rose Chung. Her mission — to promote social standards and combat injustice through pageantry — continues to guide our work. At the heart of everything we do is a clear purpose: to empower women. Through education, community involvement, and leadership development, we strive to spark awareness and drive meaningful change.
This year marks our 40th Anniversary — a milestone that stands as our proudest achievement. Four decades of impact reflect the enduring strength of our mission and the unwavering dedication of those who have supported it. Our longevity is a testament to purpose, progress, and perseverance.
We proudly present a class of exceptional women — intelligent, resilient, and ready to redefine beauty. Your presence at the Miss Asian Global Pageant motivates our delegates to pursue personal growth, step outside their comfort zones, and expand their connections.
To our supporters, sponsors, friends, and families — thank you.
Your belief in our vision allows us to break new ground and raise the standard for what pageantry can achieve. Together, we nurture future leaders and create space for women to rise.
To our dedicated volunteers — your time, effort, and passion bring this pageant to life. We are grateful for your tireless support.
As we honor Queen Raine Xiong and her court for a year of impactful service and advocacy, we celebrate the legacy they leave behind. A new generation now steps forward, and with them, we continue to grow, adapt, and lead with purpose.
Together, we rise by lifting others.
Sincerely,

QUEEN’S FAREWELL
Dear Friends, Family and Supporters of the Miss Asian Global community,
What an extraordinary journey this has been. Serving as your Miss Asian Global has been one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences of my life. It has been a year filled with growth, connection, and purpose, and I am endlessly grateful for every opportunity this title has gifted me.
Throughout this journey, I have been blessed to connect more deeply with my cultural heritage and to engage with communities beyond my own. From participating in community events, volunteering with charitable organizations, and speaking on platforms that empower and uplift, to simply sharing stories and experiences with those I’ve met along the way—every moment has made an impact on me.
Through this role, my passion for advocating for women’s empowerment and cultural representation has grown immensely, and I’ve been honored to use my voice to inspire others and break down barriers. I truly believe that when we are given a platform, it is not just for us—it is for all those who see themselves in us and are waiting for someone to show them that their dreams are within reach. As the very first Hmong Miss Asian Global, I have been graced with the honor of sharing my culture and heritage with my MAG community and beyond. It warms my heart to see Hmong girls strive for greatness, which I know they are capable of. I would not be standing here without the unwavering support of my loving family, loyal friends, and the incredible mentors who have guided me through moments of both triumph and doubt. Your encouragement has been my foundation. I am especially grateful to all the wonderful women in my life who believed in me and supported me every step of the way, and who shaped me to who I am today. As I say farewell, I would like to dedicate my reign to my incredible tais, my grandmother who passed away in June 2025. She was beautiful and full of grace, and I know how proud she was of me for representing myself and our community through this platform.
Although this chapter is coming to a close, I know it is only the beginning of what’s next. I look forward to cheering on the next queen as she embarks on her own journey, and I am excited to see how she will continue to uplift and inspire.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to serve in this role. It has been the honor of a lifetime.
With all my love,
Raine Xiong

Tribute to Our Original Girls
We proudly honor our Three OG’s (Original Girls), whose unwavering dedication has shaped the very heart and soul of our pageant. For years, they have poured their time, talent, and compassion into our community, standing strong through every challenge with resilience and grace. Loved and respected by both staff and delegates, they embody the true spirit of service and sisterhood. This tribute celebrates their remarkable legacy and the lasting impact they have made on each of us.
Janice Hom
not only with her problem-solving, but with the warmth of homemade meals and baked treats for the pageant family. Her belief that food brings people together spoke to the larger spirit she infused into every MAG event, where kindness and connection took precedence.
Julunda’s devotion to the pageant touched every corner of its mission. Her contributions helped expand the diversity of participants, welcoming contestants from high school students to accomplished professionals. She watched former delegates go on to create pageants
Julunda Gean Mendoza
Since 1986
Julunda Gean’s journey with the Pageant began with a simple role as an usher, where she discovered joy in greeting guests and solving small challenges. That first taste of involvement sparked a deeper dedication, leading her to nearly four decades of service that wove her talents into the very fabric of the pageant’s legacy. Over time, she found herself filling countless roles, from dressing room coordinator to photographer, from crafting plaques and sashes to editing the program book. She even enlisted her family, dressing her three sons as junior escorts and recruiting her partner, Fernando, into the volunteer fold. Each task became another thread in her tapestry of commitment, built with patience and an instinct to support others wherever help was needed.
Throughout the years, Julunda earned a reputation as someone who could keep calm under pressure, whether sewing emergency gown alterations, gluing dance shoes back together, or fixing props just moments before showtime. She cared deeply for the well-being of those in the pageant’s orbit, offering guidance and protection, especially when her protective instincts sensed anyone seeking to exploit the delegates’ trust. She nurtured the community
in other states, carrying forward the spirit of empowerment. Volunteering alongside her family, even bringing along their poodles to meetings, she built a life where personal and community service were inseparable. Julunda hopes her legacy reminds every delegate that they hold a special place of value, and that beauty stems from the courage to share one’s talents and culture with the world. Her story glows with gratitude, generosity, and the quiet triumph of a woman who chose to give her heart, time, and boundless skills to ensure others could stand in the spotlight.
Janice Hom Since 1987
Janice Hom’s adventure with the Pageant began on a single evening backstage during the third annual Miss Asian California competition. Invited to help manage the bustle behind the scenes, she stepped into a world alive with energy and creativity. After the show, Janice offered three pages of observations and ideas to improve the production. Her ideas were embraced and sparked Janice’s long commitment, launching her into a world where she would learn not only about stagecraft, but also about people, teamwork, and the subtle details that bring an event to life. Her first taste of pageant production grew into a lasting bond, fueled by her desire to see each year’s show shine brighter than the one before.
Janice contributed her talents as backstage manager, scriptwriter, program announcer, and eventually as pageant director, shaping the event from the smallest logistical details to the grand moments on stage. In recent years,
she has become one of the trainers guiding the delegates, sharing the wisdom she gained through countless rehearsals, productions, and live events. Her talent for managing time and keeping the many moving parts of a production in harmony has been a cornerstone of the pageant’s continued success. Janice’s leadership reflects the steady hand of someone who understands the balance between creative vision and the practical tasks required to bring that vision to reality. Her presence ensures that each show unfolds with polish and precision, even when moments behind the scenes are unpredictable. Many former delegates request her help in their subsequent pageant quests. Janice is proud to be the speech coach of several Miss Chinatown USA titleholders.
Beyond the stage lights, Janice’s involvement with Miss Asian Global opened doors to a wider community, connecting her with organizations devoted to culture, art, and service.
She became active with the Asian Art Museum, the Chinese Culture Foundation, the California Dragon Boat Festival, and more, building bridges between the pageant and the broader cultural landscape. Her friendships formed through the pageant became a wellspring of fellowship and support, reminding her why she returns each year despite the countless hours and demands
that come with the role. To Janice, her journey has been both interesting and chaotic, a combination that keeps her engaged and invested in the pageant’s future. Her story stands as a testament to the power of dedication and the enduring connections forged through shared purpose and passion.
creativity to photos, and she shared her knowledge of etiquette so that delegates would have life skills to be poised and gracious personally and professionally. Penny’s creativity shone through the custom-designed pageant bears she crafted as keepsakes, each one a small symbol of affection and remembrance. She nourished the delegates not only with her gentle guidance but with healthy snacks during training sessions. Whether gluing letters onto sashes in the early years or setting up for events, Penny approached every task with love and dedication, never hesitating to jump in wherever she was needed. As a teacher at Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School, she arranged for the Miss Asian Queen and Court and Miss Chinatown USA queens to take part in Read Aloud Day. This event became one of the queen and court’s favorite experiences.
Through her deep involvement, Penny discovered her own transformation alongside the pageant’s growth. Once shy, she
“Mommy”
Penny Wong-Belleza Since 1987
When Rose Chung first invited Penny to serve as a house mother, she had no idea what the role entailed. She agreed to try it and quickly discovered how deeply she loved caring for the delegates as if they were her own daughters. Early on, one delegate who had lost her mother began calling her “Mommy Penny,” a name that has stayed with her ever since, symbolizing the bond she formed with countless young women who passed through the pageant doors. That gesture of trust planted the seed for a lifelong devotion that became as much a part of Penny’s identity as her own name.
Penny pours her talents into every corner of the pageant, shaping traditions and caring for details both big and small. She found joy in photographing moments at events preserving memories that stitched together the history of the pageant. She invented group photo formations to add life and
found herself developing leadership and social skills, gaining confidence, and building lifelong friendships. The rewards of her dedication reached far beyond the pageant. She became a cherished figure in the lives of many delegates, celebrating their weddings, welcoming babies, and even becoming a godmother to four young women. Trips abroad with the pageant brought unforgettable experiences, and gestures of gratitude from Rose and the Pageant family left treasured memories of appreciation. For Penny, standing
on stage with each year’s new queen and court remains the pinnacle of joy. Her time with Miss Asian Global Pageant has been a journey defined by love, passion, and the fulfillment of helping countless women shine.

As a pediatrician, I believe every child deserves the chance to grow into their full potential. This requires both physical and mental health support. Drawing on my background as a second generation ChineseAmerican, I developed a curriculum in Chicago’s Chinatown that teaches parents how to talk to their kids about mental health in Mandarin. I will continue championing mental health for children and making an impact, one child at a time.

As a woman in the engineering field, I’ve learned firsthand that empowering girls in STEM requires more than access to education—it demands visibility. Too often, they never see women leading in science or technology, so they don’t imagine themselves there either. As the founder of Women of the World (WOW), I build mentorship meetings, organize equity-driven events, and spotlight inspiring role models. My goal is to make sure girls don’t just learn STEM—they see themselves as the future of it.

Growing up in the Filipino culture, body shaming is a daily sport and the perpetrators never grow out of it. Women of all ages struggle with body image. I was one of them and I never felt beautiful. Then I realized, I can take control of how I see myself. Beauty consists of confidence, kindness, and self-acceptance. Everyday, I challenge those toxic comments. It’s time for us to end body shaming.

As a sports fan, I dream of seeing our next Olympic badminton champion come from America. Growing up though, I didn’t know badminton was a real sport until my club advisor encouraged me to compete. Be it through a borrowed racquet, a community gym, or a first-time smash, I aim to create space for others to rise, rally, and dream big through workshops, tournaments, and community partnerships. With your help, we can build momentum to make badminton an NCAArecognized sport and inspire our future champions of tomorrow—one birdie at a time.

Every dream is within reach, and you have the power to shape a life that’s true to you, even if it means going against the odds. My journey began when I was the only student from my high school in Jakarta to be admitted to UCLA, continued as I moved across the country to New York, then once more when I left it all behind to start a tech company, while defying traditional ChineseIndonesian expectations. Through my journey, I hope to show anything is within reach!

When my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, we became responsible for her health and safety. One of the hardest decisions we faced was whether she should receive care at home or in a facility. To support caregivers through questions like these, I’ve been helping to develop an app that connects them with experts in healthcare, housing, and financial planning. With the right guidance, no one will have to navigate these decisions alone.

When I was a child, my mom escaped from a domestic violence environment. No one was there to help us so we tried to heal each other and that trauma stayed with me. After moving to the U.S., I realized the trauma that I experienced happens all over the world. Today, I volunteer at many Drama Therapy classes to help those children who have experienced the same pain. By helping them, we can heal together.

Growing up, I was told STEM wasn’t for women, and I rarely saw Asian culture represented without stereotypes. Today, I lead as a Data Forensics Manager in consulting and mentor women in tech. I also raise cultural awareness to help the next generation see pride in our heritage. I’ve spent my life confronting bias with strength, passion, and purpose. My mission is to empower others to lead with confidence and pride— where identity is not hidden, but recognized, respected, and celebrated.

As a young girl, leadership didn’t represent Asian women like me. Despite the world counting me out, I became the mentor I always needed and forged my own path. That’s why I created Project EmpowerHER— for the girl I used to be. As the big sister to the next generation of Asian women leaders, I am mentoring high school students through funding and communitydriven projects. Join me in igniting a new era of leadership—one empowered Asian woman at a time.

I believe in the power of a global sisterhood, women lifting each other across oceans and borders. Being Chinese-South African, I’ve seen that different cultures share the same dreams for their girls. That inspired me to create a nonprofit uniting young women worldwide through mentorship and leadership programs. When one girl finds her strength, she reaches back to pull another up, creating an unbreakable chain of empowerment. My platform is about forging these bonds globally. We are not just changing one life, we are changing the world, one sister at a time—legacy of empowerment.

My teaching philosophy is to create an inclusive classroom that helps every child feel seen and valued. Creating equity, community, and collaboration cannot be done alone. I know parental involvement is key to my success. Teachers rely on parents and families to build the best educational environment possible. When we work together as a team, we can create classrooms where every student can learn and become responsible and productive citizens. Let’s build that future together.

What if you could experience the beauty of another culture—not with a passport, but just with a phone? As a tech entrepreneur and dancer from Macau, I’m building an app that teaches global dance styles, blending music and technology to unite people. With a million TikTok views, I share stories that connect us through movement. My goal is to reach 3 million people in the next year. For too long, periods have been whispered about. Hidden. Shamed. But there is no shame in something so natural. I know what it feels like to be strong and independent…yet quietly struggling. Over 500 million people worldwide lack access to menstrual care. In the U.S., nearly 1 in 4 students face period poverty. My platform, Flow with Dignity, is about ending the silence and fighting for menstrual equality. No one should feel less than for having a period.

Working in health care has taught me the true value of good health, the importance of bodily autonomy, and the quiet loneliness many experience as they age. Volunteering in nursing homes showed me how simply listening and being present can deeply impact seniors’ mental and emotional wellbeing. I’m passionate about using my voice to raise awareness of elder loneliness and to inspire our generation to build meaningful connections that bridge the gap between young and old. Together, we can make a difference.

Food insecurities amongst low-income families increased throughout the recent years. This includes the children who lack the proper nutrition they need to go about their daily lives. While we take action to feed those kids in need, we need to educate ourselves on the issue of struggle (such as cost increase and agricultural status) to be able to provide the balanced diet that we advocate.

Emily Zhao
Emily Zhao is a software engineer at Google, where she builds AI-powered tools designed to make advanced technology intuitive, accessible, and deeply humancentered. She chose to work in technology because she believes it holds the real potential to change the world, from how people connect online to how robotics can support care, aging, and everyday life.
Beyond engineering, Emily is a vocal advocate for mental health. Having witnessed the pressure and burnout in high-performance environments, she believes emotional well-being is not just a personal concern, but a structural requirement for meaningful, long-term innovation.
As a woman in tech, Emily hopes to inspire more girls, especially those from Asian backgrounds, to pursue ambitious careers without compromising their identity, values, or well-being.
Raised with Confucian values of humility and discipline, Emily arrived in the United States facing cultural tension and discrimination, particularly during the pandemic. Instead of retreating, she chose to speak up and take pride in her heritage. Her goal is to share the beauty of Asian culture and represent a generation of women who lead with both strength and empathy.
She is running for Miss Asian Global to amplify these values and help shape a future where diversity is not just seen, but celebrated.
