I knew back in 2006 that something was happening in the market, I just didn’t see the size of the bomb until it was too late. When homes are selling, agents are making money and therefore spending money marketing themselves and their client’s properties. Being in this business for 16+ years (before launching PREMIER I was the Associate Publisher at Dream Homes) I know what to expect. When my page counts are down I really start to analyze the sales numbers of the market and I know my readers do too. We get calls asking when the next issue is coming out because home sellers/buyers want to know those same sales numbers. Our readers are making big decisions based on the market trends and what is happening, whether they are buying or selling, so it’s good news when I see solid sales numbers in our editorial pages, and I am happy to see good strong sales in our featured communities.

Pretty soon we will be entering fall, when real estate sales seem to slow a bit, but with that said, some great deals can still be made and that is especially true during the winter. It seems buyers in the market during this time are very serious and inventory is usually lower, so homes on the market get some great prospects and good solid offers. So if you didn’t sell your home this past summer or are planning on putting your home on the market soon, this is still a great time to do so while interest rates are still low, and buyers keep buying!

PUBLISHER’S LETTER

WELCOME BACK RANCHO SANTA FE! This year has been a bit of a nail biter for us at PREMIER, with home sales down as much as 43% compared to last year in the RSF area, which is where we generate a lot of our business. But now in our September issue (read our editorial The State of San Diego Real Estate on the opposite page) you will see a very nice recovery in Rancho Santa Fe. As of August 15th, home sales are only down 7% from last year, what a comeback!! Since I launched PREMIER in April 2006, right as the market was beginning to show a small down turn, and then nose diving in 2007 and 2008, I find myself watching the market with a magnifying glass every month. Ever since the recovery of the housing market across the nation, every analyst has a different opinion as to when a slow-down will happen again and to what magnitude. With so much unrest in Washington and a very turbulent election approaching us, I find myself holding my breath sometimes when the previous month’s sales numbers come across my desk. I understand the market fluctuates up and down as the seasons flow, but my magazine’s page count helps me to understand what’s happening in the market based on agent’s spending. I knew back in 2006 that something was happening in the market, I just didn’t see the size of the bomb until it was too late. When homes are selling, agents are making money and therefore spending money marketing themselves and their client’s properties. Being in this business for 16+ years (before launching PREMIER I was the Associate Publisher at Dream Homes) I know what to expect. When my page counts are down I really start to analyze the sales numbers of the market and I know my readers do too. We get calls asking when the next issue is coming out because home sellers/buyers want to know those same sales numbers. Our readers are making big decisions based on the market trends and what is happening, whether they are buying or selling, so it’s good news when I see solid sales numbers in our editorial pages, and I am happy to see good strong sales in our featured communities.

Pretty soon we will be entering fall, when real estate sales seem to slow a bit, but with that said, some great deals can still be made and that is especially true during the winter. It seems buyers in the market during this time are very serious and inventory is usually lower, so homes on the market get some great prospects and good solid offers. So if you didn’t sell your home this past summer or are planning on putting your home on the market soon, this is still a great time to do so while interest rates are still low, and buyers keep buying!
