YEP, IT'S TIME TO START THINKING FOOTBALL!

School’s out -- so it must be time to begin talking football again! Yes, as we near the middle of the calendar year things start to rev up in the college football world. That timing was in full display last week when our governing organization, Bowl Season, helped coordinate with ESPN and all games across the country an announcement of this year’s postseason schedule. Locally, we are ecstatic to be moving a little later in the month with our justreleased date of the 2023 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl being played on Saturday, Dec. 23. In addition, the 4:30 pm PT kickoff time on ABC means that we get to show off our event – and city – in prime time on the East Coast. It also allows fans from both the Pac-12 and Big Ten schools taking part plenty of time to arrange their travel to Southern Nevada while also getting folks home for the holidays.

Another annual milestone of our bowl game schedule is the golf tournament, which this year was staged at Southern Highlands Golf Club. I want to thank everyone who took to the links or made it out for the social gathering for a great night of food, drink and music. And a special thank you to Southern Highland’s General Manager Jason Cheney and the Club staff for hosting another fantastic event.

2023 SRS DISTRIBUTION LAS VEGAS BOWL SET FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23

Featuring a matchup of teams from the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences, the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. ET) at Allegiant Stadium and televised on ABC. This year will mark the 32nd edition of the Las Vegas Bowl.

“The SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl will be the featured primetime game on the East Coast with this year’s late-afternoon local kickoff providing a perfect opportunity to help show off our city to a national television audience as the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World,” said John Saccenti, executive director of the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl. “The date also gives fans plenty of time to travel to Las Vegas for bowl week before the holiday. Our committee looks forward to hosting another dynamite matchup between marquee teams from two elite conferences.”

STAAB NAMED SRS DISTRIBUTION LAS VEGAS BOWL COMMITTEE GAME CHAIR

Kristi Staab has been tabbed LVBowl Committee Game Chair for the 2023 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, becoming the first female Committee member to hold that position in Las Vegas Bowl history.

on the shoulders of the visionaries who have worked tirelessly over the past 30 years to bring their visions of the Las Vegas Bowl to reality, showcasing the most iconic city in the world. In its 32nd year, the Bowl theme is “It All Happens Here” … Here in Las Vegas, The Sports, Entertainment, and Hospitality Capital of the World, where the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl will rollout out the red carpet and provide an extraordinary, world class experience to our elite conference partners, the Pac-12 and Big Ten, and participating universities, team personnel, fans, and studentathletes,” said Staab.

For over 30 years as executive coach, consultant, and speaker, Staab has been developing individuals, teams, and organizations around the globe to

Staab is actively involved in serving her community on the Vegas Chamber Executive Women’s Council Steering Committee, Women in Sports & Events (WISE) Las Vegas, and is the leadership facilitator for Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Henderson.

COMMITTEE AND HUDDLE MEMBERS HONORED FOR 2022 CONTRIBUTIONS

The Las Vegas Bowl recognized two Committee members and two Huddle members for going above and beyond during the 2022 season. Lisa Motley, LVCVA Senior Director of Sports and Special Events, was selected Committee MVP, while Juan Ambriz, General Manager, Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, was named Committee Rookie of the Year.

For their extraordinary efforts, Michelle Feather, Designer for Fluff n Plume, was named Huddle MVP, and Dawn Low, Principal/Office Manager, Superior Plumbing & Drain, was selected Huddle Rookie of the Year.

“Our Committee and Huddle members are key to the success of our game,” said Executive Director John Saccenti. “It’s been a pleasure to have Lisa, Juan, Michelle and Dawn on board to support the efforts of the Las Vegas Bowl staff, Committee and Huddle.”

THE LAS VEGAS BOWL HUDDLE THRIVES ON COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The Las Vegas Bowl Huddle was created to support the overall mission of the Las Vegas Bowl in the community. The Huddle focuses annually on elevating the bowl’s presence in the market through community activations and charitable support.

And there has been no off-season for the Huddle as the group has planned monthly events through the spring and summer. To date, the group has distributed $30,000 in Grants to Clark County teachers to assist funding for innovative sports and leadership projects, participated in Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes event where MakeA-Wish Southern Nevada raised over $500,000 for children with critical illnesses, and anchored the No. 17 tee box during the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl VIP Golf Outing as it raised another $2,000 to put towards Grants for the Extra Yard for Teachers program.

2023 ESPN COLLEGE FOOTBALL POWER INDEX

The Big Ten and Pac-12 Conferences combine to list nine teams among the Top 25 in the latest ESPN College Football Power Index. Ohio State takes the top spot overall followed by No. 6 Michigan and No. 7 USC.

In addition to the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, the city welcomes the National Final Rodeo, Formula 1, Super Bowl LVIII, the Pac-12 Football Championship Game and a plethora of in-season basketball events and postseason conference basketball tournaments. ESPN Events is proud to announce the Vegas Showdown - a four team basketball event featuring Arizona State, BYU, NC State and Vanderbilt - which will take place at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24.
