However, his most recent advertising campaign may have stepped over the line with the headline “Socialists Hate Him. Capitalists Don’t.” In this campaign, Crawford boasts of making his clients money, enjoying the spoils of fossil fuels and keeping his clients’ transaction information private, among other edgy ideas. It has been brought to his attention that some folks in the market area may have taken offense to these ideas. To address the recent complaints, Kevin has released the statement below: It has come to my attention that my recent attempts at bringing edgy humor to some of my advertising has offended some people. I take these complaints very seriously and we have taken immediate action to make changes internally, ensuring that this will possibly never happen again. My goal is to sell our clients’ very nice homes for a large profit, but I also understand that we’re living in very divided times and that capitalism isn’t for everyone. I’d like to issue an official apology to anyone that’s been offended by these ideas. It is never our intention to offend people with our advertising. CROSS is a luxury residential remodeling firm who prides ourselves on sound ethical business principles and a strong desire to provide complete customer satisfaction. Where are you from and how long have you lived in San Antonio?

What skill do you think helps you the most in Remodeling?

I was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in San Antonio. I come from a hard-working middle-class family; my mother was an elementary school teacher and my father was a Corrugated box salesman. After graduating from a local high school, I served in the Air Force, which included stints in Egypt and Saudi Arabia as a security police officer for the Air Force Intelligence Command. After serving, I left the Air Force, returned to San Antonio and married my wife, Stephanie, who I met at a dance in 6th grade. We have been married for 23 years now and have 4 wonderful children.

The ability to create a good team is the skill most helpful to me. You have to learn and understand that you are only as good as the team you develop. CROSS’s success came from building a team of passionate, committed, dedicated, and effective leaders who work together to produce repeatable results and are committed to producing the highest quality work for our clients. Everyone on our team shares my desire to continually grow and stay up to date with products, education and skills; to be better than what is expected.

Why Remodeling?

When it comes to reading, what book has had the biggest impact on your life?

After serving in the Air Force, I started working for a boutique, custom, high-end remodeling company. I started as a carpenter’s helper and spent 6 years learning and acquiring the skills needed to flourish in the industry. I loved transforming client’s spaces. However, during those early years in remodeling, I became more and more bothered and disappointed in the lack of integrity, honesty, professionalism and poor customer service in the industry. I then decided I would build a luxury remodeling firm that would change the standards in our industry. My goal was to build a company with integrity, passion, and commitment to providing complete customer satisfaction. We use a team approach, employ skilled craftsman and provide customer-oriented project management. This is why I started CROSS.

The Fred Factor by Mark Sanborn had a huge impact on my life and my business. It teaches and explains that even the most ordinary tasks can and should be done extraordinarily well. No matter what you do in life, do it to the very best of your ability. It is a great read for anyone who wants to enrich their life by serving others through their work, leadership and relationships.
