Swiss maker Luminox’s collaboration with Bear Grylls unveils another watch ready for nature’s most vexing challenges.
When you think of outdoor adventuring and survival, Bear Grylls is a name that immediately comes to mind.
The intrepid outdoorsman is known for venturing into some of the most unpredictable and difficult environments our planet has to offer, so it only makes sense that a watch bearing his name would have to be ready and willing to stand up to just about anything.
His latest release in an ongoing collaboration with Swiss maker Luminox is up for the challenge. The Luminox Bear Grylls Survival Master #tide Chronograph 3740 is a 45mm watch purposebuilt to keep you on track with reliable timing and features to keep you moving in the right direction.
The chronograph comes in three color options and is wrapped in recycled plastic that would have otherwise been left in the ocean. (Local fishermen off the coast of Thailand are paid to gather and sort the plastic for this specific use.) It gives the watch a water resistance rating of up to 200 meters. Paired with a 50-month battery life, this is a watch that will most certainly go wherever you need it to and last the duration of your expedition. Noting the use of recycled materials, the timepiece is also part of Luminox parent company Mondaine’s sustainability efforts. They’ve integrated several planet-positive steps across their production process and have operated with carbon neutrality since 2020.
Rounding out this particular watch’s features are a 316 L stainless steel crown and case back featuring Grylls’ signature red color and logo, respectively, and a Swiss-made Ronda 5030.D quartz movement.
This newer watch is part of Grylls’ standing partnership Grylls with Luminox, which spans a few additional releases, including a timepiece with Morse code and a ruler integrated into respective rubber straps. As you might expect, each watch was built with your most ambitious adventures in mind.
Across the entire collaboration, each watch has its own functional style—with bright coloring and bold dials, which wouldn’t look out of place in much tamer environments (like on the way to an afternoon at the beach).
