RESEARCH SUPPORT Being a researcher, you can get support from us during your research process. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding scientific communication and information searching.

Among other things, we offer to help you with information retrieval and reference management, Open Access, registration in LUCRIS, research data management and bibliometrics.

INFORMATION RETRIEVAL AND REFERENCE MANAGEMENT Today, there is a wide range of reference databases where you find articles and other information useful for your research. Many databases also offer the opportunity to select between diffrent types of articles and to monitor the publishing.

Reference management software helps you organise your references so that you can insert them into your academic text and create a literature list as you write.

We can perform task-based information searches – for instance before a project application, a literature review or the start of a new project.

We regularly arrange courses and seminars in both information retrieval and reference management. Please contact the library if you want to learn more about how to search skilfully, to get hold of relevant material or monitor the publishing of articles within your research area.

OPEN ACCESS Many research funders require that researchers publish their material open access.

As a researcher you can book a seminar focusing on common guidelines on how to do this. We will also provide you with a few tips on how to find open access journals within your specific subject.

Furthermore, we will give you some information about the reading and writing agreements that Lund University has signed with scholarly publishers. Researchers can publish themselves without taking the publishing costs, as it is covered within the agreement. We will also look into how you can use LUCRIS and other open archives to make your research meet funding requirements regarding open access.

REGISTRATION IN LUCRIS LUCRIS is the Lund University system for research information. Scientific publications, information about individual researchers, groups and projects, and other research related activities are presented in the Research Portal, the public interface for LUCRIS.

Examples of what the library can help you with regarding LUCRIS-registration: • As a researcher you can get help on how to register your publications, projects, and activities, and how to update your personal presentation page in LUCRIS. • As the head of a department we can show you how LUCRIS can be used to follow up your unit’s research.

• As a department administrator we can show how LUCRIS can make your unit´s research visible, for example by showing your collaborations with the surrounding society

RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT More and more research funders and other actors require a data management plan (DMP) as part of your research funding application.

A DMP increases the chances for correct management and quality assurance of research material.The DMP describes how data is collected, managed, organised, stored, and made available during the research process and how to ensure the data is saved and archived correctly after the project is finished.

The plan should be set up already at the beginning of the research project and be updated continuously during the working process.

Book us for a seminar or a workshop, where you and your colleagues are being guided through what to keep in mind starting your DMP work. We will be showing you the new system for Lund University DMP:s – DMPRoadmap. You can also book an individual session where we look at your DMP together.

BIBLIOMETRICS Within bibliometrics, science and research are studied with the help of mathematical and statistical methods. Bibliometrics is used to an increasng extent to evaluate research and the distribution of research funding.

We are happy to assist you when you need to: • Identify most cited journals within your research area, based on for example, Journal Impact Factor and CiteScore • Get an overview of your research group’s publications, for example your citation review, how the journals you publish in are ranked, and who your partners are • Compile an H-index before an application
