free at last s/s12 A Spring/Summer 2012 collection based on the social standing and implications of opposing Liverpool subcultures. Questioning the invariable uniform wearing ‘scallies’ via the juxtaposition of gay culture that is known for its non-discriminatory way of thinking. Researching through first hand experience, modern literature and personal interviews.

Free At Last resonates 90s silhouettes and sportswear techniques alongside subliminal design lines inspired by the functionality and flesh-like qualities of womenswear. The halter-neck jumpers, cropped shirts and memorable ‘third pocket’ aim to project a sense of familiarity via the platform of menswear . The garish print which flaunts the football characteristics of the scally scene - deconstructs into an abstract pattern, translated via the modern medium of laser cutting and etching.

Childlike colours and playful shapes show security with garish nature, a collection which will evoke a sense of humour with the natural urge of being welcomed – whilst heightening views of modern society and the ever evolving menswear industry.
