Is Olive Pomace Oil Healthy for Indian Cooking? Recognised for its numerous health benefits, olive oil has been known to lower cholesterol levels, improve heart health, and boost the metabolic activity of the body, among other things. However., despite all these benefits, Indians are still iffy about using olive oil in their daily cooking needs. Why is that you ask? Well, essentially due to lack of information! Why is Olive Pomace Oil good for Indian cooking? The health factor: Did you know that olive pomace oil is actually 80 per cent monounsaturated? Isn’t that great? As a result, it can be extremely helpful in lowering cholesterol levels in the body. Monounsaturated fats are extremely healthy fats. This is similar to the MUFA found in the likes of olive oil, avocados and even particular nuts too Olive pomace oil also happens to be wonderfully rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants help the heart stay healthy! Other than this, due to these antioxidants, many lifestyle diseases can also be prevented. Another brilliant thing about olive pomace oil is that no, it also consists of nutrients like Vitamin E. This in turn helps establish better immunity and repairs tissues in the body too. Seeing as a lot of Indians suffer from nutrient deficiency, it goes without saying that olive pomace oil does make an ideal cooking companion, without a doubt! The Heat factor: This might come as a surprise for most, but not all olive oils are meant to be had raw or shy away from being heated. On the contrary, olive pomace oil actually happens to be the best olive oil you can use to cook your food! Essentially, extra virgin olive oil is the only olive oil variety that shies away from being used in heat. This is where olive pomace oil makes a huge leap on the cooking front! Olive pomace oil has a high heat tolerance. As a result, it also does not end up losing out on any of its nutrients either! So why not use the oil for Indian cooking?

The Frying Factor: We Indians pride ourselves on the brilliant friend confectionaries and snacks that are made and served in each and every household across the country. Thus we need an oil that can rise up to the challenge of having things fried in it, without turning rancid or causing issues to one’s health! Enter the brilliance of olive pomace oil! Olive pomace oil has a high smoking point and can easily be used for deep frying as well as sauteeing purposes! This makes it one of the best oils to use in any form of Indian cooking! A bonus? A little goes a long way with this wonderful oil because it spreads easily and is even absorbed less by the foods that are fried in it! The Taste Factor: It is a myth, commonly spread, that an oil, such as the olive pomace oil, will always have a peculiar taste to it! Ok, we understand that a majority of the Indian household has gotten used to and grown up with the taste of refined oil or even peanut oil for that matter. But this myth about olive pomace oil tasting weird is just a myth and nothing else. The myth might itself have arisen from the fact that extra virgin olive oil does have a distinct aroma and taste. Olive pomace oil, however, on the other hand, has a neutral taste to it. As a result, adding it to the vast variety of Indian dishes will not end up changing the dishes’ flavour at all! So fret not! Olive pomace oil has slowly and steadily become a part of Indian cuisine, and most families have started opening up their doors, (and their pantries) to welcome this oil into their homes. Here’s hoping that a majority of the Indian population realizes what a boon the oil is to their health as well as their cooking needs soon!
