Runway shows mirror
the nature of fashion itself, in that they are ephemeral like a strike of lightning, or a snowflake. Models float down the catwalk so effortlessly that the
spectacle
almost
feels
natural. They look straight out of a daydream, suspended in time and space. Sitting front row feels like sitting on the theater stage during a performance: it
immerses
you
into
the
fantasy. After the models finally convene, uniting the pieces as
a
collection,
the
show
suddenly draws to a close. The daydream is over, and it’s on to the next season. While it may be a dream-come-true, for designers, showing a collection at New York Fashion Week is far from quick and effortless. On the contrary, immeasurable amounts of psychical work and creative energy go into these presentations.
