On the Edge of Fear and Freedom
Ramona: Angela, you’re stepping into what feels like a transformative chapter—your first U.S. solo show, a Netflix documentary, a book, and a bold relocation. Do you feel like you're becoming someone new, or finally becoming yourself?
Angela: Thank you.
Right now, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
It’s not that I’m becoming someone new — it’s that I’m uncovering parts of myself I hadn’t seen before.
I’ve known since kindergarten that I would be an artist; I remember telling my grandmother with complete certainty.
Art has always been the thread — photography, performance, video — and now, painting and digital art have become vital parts of the world I’m building.
Ramona: Your work exists where gravity pulls and the soul resists — at the edge of what we call fear. What does fear mean to you now? Is it still an enemy… or has it become a muse?
Angela: Fear, for me, has always been a doorway.
Whenever it appears, I know I’m standing on the edge of something important.
In the film, I share a line that resonated with so many people:
“Your full potential lies beyond your fear.”
It’s not just a phrase — it’s been the reality behind every extreme moment of my life.
Images by Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau
Ramona: Every image you create feels like a meditation on risk. What do you think your audience misunderstands about danger, and what do you wish they knew about your relationship with it?
Angela: First and foremost, I need people to know: what I do should not be copied. It’s dangerous — and besides, everyone carries a unique brilliance the world needs, not a replica of someone else.
I explore cities through extreme experiences, searching for beauty and new ways to express the parts of myself that refuse to fit into ordinary spaces.
It’s a form of creation at the edge.
And yes — that meditative state artists talk about — I know it intimately.
For me, creating often feels exactly like meditation: a place beyond thought, where only truth remains.
Ramona: Much of your art dances between power and surrender. How do you navigate that line — not just in your work, but in your life as a woman, an artist, and a myth in motion?
Angela: In life and in art, I’ve learned to move with certainty while embracing the unknown.
You need strength to grow — but you also need faith in the things you cannot control. As a woman and as an artist, I’ve realized that vulnerability isn’t a weakness. It’s one of the most powerful forms of strength we have.
Ramona: New York — chaotic, hungry, alive — how has it changed your rhythm, your rituals, or the way you see the sky?
Angela: When we first arrived in New York, it felt like I was always racing — like the city was moving faster than I could catch it.
I tried to shrink the distance by drinking more coffee, sleeping less, doing more. But eventually, my body rebelled; I crashed into panic.
Some local friends suggested something radical: less coffee, more meditation. It changed everything.
Now, the energy of New York still electrifies me — but instead of fighting its current, I move with it.
There’s always enough time for what matters when you’re grounded inside yourself.
Ramona: In Skywalkers: A Love Story, we glimpse the world through your lens — part poetic, part survival. What was the hardest truth to let people see?
Angela: The hardest thing to reveal was how fragile I can be.
People see the strength, the impossible climbs — but underneath it all, there have been fears, doubts, and moments where I almost gave up.
Showing that side, admitting I’m not fearless — that sometimes stubbornness alone carries me through — was one of the most vulnerable things I’ve ever done.
But I’ve learned that the cracks don’t weaken the story.
They make it real.
Ramona: You’ve carved out a space in a world where women aren’t traditionally invited to climb — literally or metaphorically. What has been the most unexpected consequence of that rebellion?
Angela: The most unexpected gift has been hearing from women around the world who found courage in my journey.
At first, I was just chasing my own freedom.
I never imagined that standing in places where no one expected me to be would give others permission to tear down their own invisible walls. It became one of the most meaningful parts of what I do — a quiet revolution I never intended, but am honored to be part of.
Ramona: Your upcoming show merges virtual realms, physical tension, and digital beauty. What excites you most about this next evolution of storytelling?
Angela: What inspires me most is my own refusal to stay still.
Risk and reinvention are part of who I am.
At my solo show, I’ll be presenting my digital art for the first time — where my avatar will perform acts my physical body never could.
Next to photographs taken on the edge of real skyscrapers, I’ll reveal another layer: oil paintings from the Other Side series.
This show is a fusion — my real world bleeding into the surreal, into the worlds we might all soon inhabit.
Ramona: You once described the city as a cage you turned into a cathedral. Has New York redefined your faith in space, scale, or solitude?
Angela: Moving to New York made me feel small in a way I hadn’t experienced before. The ambition, the scale, the immensity of it all — it overwhelmed me. I dedicated a piece to that feeling called No Exit.
In it, the heroine looks like a superhero — the kind New York loves — but the city has closed around her, tight and inescapable.
It seems like the moment to fight again — but this time, the way out isn’t through fighting. It’s through surrendering to something deeper.
Ramona: You create not just art, but atmospheres — charged with breathlessness. What do you hope lingers in someone’s chest after they experience your work?
Angela: What I hope lingers in someone’s chest after they experience my work is a feeling of freedom —a quiet courage to step into their own life without fear.
Even if it’s just a small shift — a soft rewiring of how they see the world — I want them to realize that the edge they’re afraid of might not be an end at all. It might be the beginning of something unimaginably beautiful.
Ramona: Your book is nearly here. If you had to choose a single line from it that captures your truth, your essence — what would it be?
Angela: If I had to choose one line from my upcoming book that captures my essence, it would be: "Your full potential is on the other side of fear."
Everything real, everything alive in my life began the moment I chose to move through fear rather than away from it.
This book will tell the story of that journey — from my earliest memories to the present moment — through photographs that have never been published before. Each copy will carry not just my story, but a piece of my art, personally signed, as a way of sharing something deeply personal with everyone who holds it.
Ramona: The world often sees you in extremes: altitude, aesthetics, audience. But what grounds you? What do your quietest moments look like?
Angela: What grounds me most are not the grand moments — but the simple, human ones.
Moments with my family, my loved ones, my animals — my cat and dog, who remind me daily of innocence and trust.
I feel like the happiest person in the world when I’m with my grandmother; every minute with her feels like a treasure.
I also find a profound peace in walking quietly with my partner — the person who has climbed both skyscrapers and dreams with me.
It’s in these quiet, unremarkable moments that I find everything real and lasting.
Ramona: And lastly… what haven’t you said yet, because no one has ever asked the right question?
Angela: Maybe no one ever asks how heavy freedom can sometimes feel. Everyone sees the beauty — the breathtaking views, the triumphant moments — but true freedom means carrying the full weight of your own choices, your own risks, your own dreams. And sometimes, that weight is heavier than any skyscraper I’ve ever climbed.

boyPhotography, at its most honest, happens not in the shutter’s click or the angle of light, but in the space between presence and surrender. It’s in the stillness of a body that listens to the wind, in skin that catches sunlight like memory, in movement that’s both a question and an answer. These moments are not staged — they arrive when the soul dares to be seen. In this series, it wasn’t just about capturing a pose or a flower against the sky. It was about trust — with the earth beneath, with the breath shared in silence, with the vulnerability of being open. When presence meets intuition, and the body moves not for the camera but for itself, something deeper is revealed. Something that breathes beyond the frame. Here, photography becomes a quiet ritual. A communion. A moment when the self dissolves into light, nature, and truth — and what remains is not just an image, but a feeling. A trace. A whisper of something timeless.

Silken to the touch and elusive as moonlight on a mirror, Féline is a study in contrasts—a living portrait of modern femininity painted not in bold strokes, but in glances, in gestures, in the poetry of detail. She is a quiet storm, sensual and untamed, fierce and impossibly soft. Her power lies not in volume, but in presence. She doesn’t demand attention—she draws it, effortlessly.
Féline is the woman who shifts shapes without losing herself. One day a whisper, the next a roar. She embodies the eternal tension between strength and fragility, seduction and solitude, romance and rebellion. She’s never just one thing. And she never has to be.
Clothing, for her, is not adornment—it’s articulation. A whisper of silk, a flicker of gold, the fall of fabric across bare skin—all tools in the art of becoming. With each look, a new emotion is revealed: soft and ethereal, or sharp and unapologetically bold. Her style is not about trends. It’s about truth.
This editorial isn’t just about fashion. It’s a sensory experience—a cinematic unfolding of emotion, light, and texture. It’s about the space between frames, the weight of a gaze, the electricity of stillness. Here, fashion breathes. It moves. It speaks in the language of skin and soul.
Féline doesn’t chase perfection. She embodies authenticity. Passionate. Unpredictable. Unapologetically herself. She doesn’t ask for permission. She meets the world with a look that says: I am.

Filles de Trois
I met Oriane in New York, and by pure chance, we crossed paths a few months later in Ivory Coast. At that moment, we knew we had to do a photoshoot together.
This series, featuring Oriane in her mother’s clothes, is a tribute to her roots and the journey that brought her here. Oriane isn’t just a mix of two cultures: she’s the creator of her own.
Through this poem I wrote, I want to share her story. She is “Fille de Trois.”
Photographer, Stylist and Director Debora Amiliay @amiliayy
“Oriane’s journey, one of change, Shaped by two worlds, never the same. Born of Ivory Coast’s warmth and French air, A life between, split everywhere.
In France, she was Black, a shadow of light, In Ivory Coast, she was white—out of sight. Her mother’s strength, her father’s control, Each culture gave pieces that made her whole.
A life spent in flight, back and forth, France for school, Ivory Coast for worth. Every year, she returned to her heart’s place, Reconnecting to roots, torn worlds in space.
At 16, New York’s dream came to her door, A model, a chance, but school was still more. She finished her books, laid a solid base, Before stepping out, the world to embrace.
Her mother moved back, and Oriane stood, Without a guide, in search of her own good. No place to call home, no path to take, She knew it was time to create her own stake.
New York, a third world, neither French nor Ivorian, A place where she could just be Oriane. No labels, no boxes, just a spirit to lead, A path of her own, a life to succeed.
Her double heritage, once pain, now fire, Two worlds fused, lifting her higher. She found her place, her story begun, A journey of strength, a woman undone.”

This editorial reinterprets the timeless elegance of structured blazers and iconic hats— imbuing them with a bold, contemporary twist. It’s not just about dressing with authority; it’s about redefining what personal power looks like in modern fashion. Each look is an evolution of the classic, where heritage silhouettes collide with unexpected elements: sharp asymmetry, exaggerated shoulders, rich texture play, and daring color combinations. Tradition meets disruption in ways that feel both commanding and fresh. Here, the hat is more than an accessory— it’s a statement of character. A symbol of mystery, edge, and quiet sophistication, it crowns each ensemble with unapologetic presence.

Inspired by Dubai — a city where heritage and high glamour entwine beneath sun-drenched skies. Here, the desert meets tomorrow, and the skyline itself wears luxury like a signature scent. From the shimmering ascent of the Burj Khalifa to the gold-laced souks that pulse with ancient rhythm, every corner tells a story of bold elegance. In Dubai, opulence isn’t an indulgence — it’s the atmosphere. Strolls become cinematic, with high jewellery catching the light of Arabian afternoons, and the echoes of tradition brushing past the low purr of passing supercars. It’s a city that doesn’t just dazzle — it mesmerizes.

The Miles
Watching Miles Davis evolve—from a sharply dressed jazz traditionalist to a boundary-pushing style icon after meeting Betty Davis—is a transformation as bold as his music. Together, they didn’t just stir the scene—they caused a global cultural shift.
Betty Davis, a legend in her own right, shattered expectations. Her fearless expression and unapologetic sensuality laid the groundwork for generations of women in music—from Grace Jones to Megan Thee Stallion. She didn’t just inspire; she ignited a movement of liberation.
In this story, Sequine merges the spirit of these two visionaries—inseparable in life, and equally influential in legacy. Their aesthetic revolution lives on in every fabric, silhouette, and defiant gaze.
