Resilient Neighbourhoods: Forced Migration

The Ngara Welcome Centre

“ Giving displaced people the opportunity to study and work is the best way to support them and to promote their integration in the new cities and communities. ”

2. key surroundings

This centre invites people to ‘ngara’, which in the gadigal language means to listen, to hear and to think. It is a place of welcoming and professional trainings, a place where you learn, practice and teach, a laboratory of art and gastronomy. In order to bring as many people and cultures as possible to the site, buildings and surroundings have been designed to invite people in, to let them freely wander around and to let them stop by and sit.

Walu-win Wellbeing Pavilion

Kaunitz Yeung Architecture

Wellbeing and Rehabilitation Centre

Walu-win wellbeing and rehabilitation centre in Orange provides additional services and spaces for community elders for the Orange Aboriginal Medical Service. The building is very welcoming and located within a community garden. Natural light and familiar materials have facilitated community ownership; while meaningful engagement with client and community has enabled a deeper understanding of what was required. Location: Orange, NSW Design Team: KYA Status: Completed Task: Documentation and Drafting Softwares: Revit

First Year Master | Summer Term, 2018

Extreme Urbanisation Lab

CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India

The Five Borthers. Panchbhai-Ni-Pol

‘Panchbhai-ni-pol’, situated in the old city of Ahmedabad, is a predominantly residential area, where only some of the ground floor levels have been turned into commercial. The pol is named after the houses of five brothers which are located next to each other in a small private street. At the back of this, a giant commercial building had been built in the attempt to commercialise the area. This area is also known for the Marwaadis women, which were generally into cutting and tailoring work from their own home. The proposal aims at offering a residential use with a small bright tailoring space at the top. The privacy and serenity of the street are preserved, while offering a new renovated house and profit opportunities to a new family. The house is designed in a way that enables privacy, natural light, cross ventilation and preserves traditions and cultural heritage. Softwares: Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop
