WELCOME TO LOWTHER GARDENS
In here you’ll find a bit more information about what we’ve got coming up in our gardens over the course of the year. Whether it’s our free to enter festivals or our newly designed mini-golf course, there’s something for everyone.
You’ll find our award-winning garden is also home to over 250 plants and a variety of wildlife from hedgehogs to squirrels.
A bit of history
Opened in 1872 by John Talbot Clifton of Lytham Hall, the Lowther Gardens were built upon an area of poor grazing land formerly known as Hungry Moor.
It was in 1909 when the first permanent entertainment venue within the gardens was erected in the form of a bandstand. This was followed in 1921 when the original Lowther Pavilion building, comprising solely of the barrel-vaulted auditorium, was built and named after the Lowther family to continue the tradition of the original gardens.

SHAKESPEARE’S TWELFTH NIGHT
Presented by The Dukes Theatre Company, this innovative production of Shakespeare’s classic play is coming to Lowther Gardens this June.
You could be forgiven for thinking that Twelfth Night was going to be the darkest of tragedies: what could be more nightmarish than to lose your twin sibling in a furious storm at sea and to think they’d died?
However, in reality, what unfolds is a romantic comedy with a madcap farce at its heart.
Featuring the unparalleled energy of their wonderful cast and original music - all that’s asked of you is that you come prepared for a wonderful time.
