Signs Indicating Starter Issues in Your Car There are many important components in your car that are responsible for the smooth running of the vehicle. Most of the people are aware of the bigger components, but there are certain smaller components in your car that play an equally important role in your car's performance and smooth running. The ignition system of your car is very important and there are many components that function in accordance with the ignition system. One such component is the starter relay which is the core component of the ignition system of your car. The main purpose of the starter relay is to redirect power from the battery to the starter solenoid which in turn activates the starter to spin over the engine. The proper activation of the process allows the ignition switch's circuit to complete, which then allows the car to shut off when the key is turned off. However, due to the constant strain, the starter relay is prone to mechanical failure and wears out eventually. Here are the signs that indicate that the starter relay in your car has malfunctioned.

Starter stays on after the engine starts The moment you start the engine and release the key, the starter is supposed to close the circuit as this will discontinue the power to the starter motor. However, the first signs of trouble will be noticeable when you observe that the starter stays on after the car has ignited. This happens when the main contact in the starter relay welds together in a closed position. This typically sounds like the starter motor is trying to start up. This is a very critical issue as there is a problem with the electric circuit of your car and if it is not fixed immediately, it has the potential to damage the other important parts of your car.

Car fails to start This is perhaps the most common sign of a bad starter relay in your car. Your car will fail to start when you engage the ignition process. Consequently, this problem is attributed to a circuit that has failed and no matter how much effort you put in, the car won't start. Moreover, at this point in time, you might hear a clicking sound coming from your car which signifies that the circuit has not failed completely. Moreover, the problem can also be related to a starter motor, the solenoid or the electrical system.

Intermittent starting problems This is one of the most frustrating experiences you will be having when the starter relay in your car starts to malfunction. When the starter relay in your car is working properly, then it will send power to the starter every time it is engaged. However, the starter relay gets damaged due to the excess heat, dirt and debris that cause intermittent starting problems in your car. When you start your car and the starter doesn't activate instantly, but when you turn the key once again it works, then the issue is caused due to a problem with the relay. Often an intermittent starting issue is related to a bad wire connection that may have become dirty due to the exposure under the hood.

Malfunctioning interior lights If you notice that your dashboard and interior lights get dimmed when you try to start your car, then it signifies
