It will take some time for the impact of these efforts to be fully implemented but I am pleased by what I have seen to date. I would encourage the members to attend our Pub Nights, TGIF dinners and other events, experience the results of these efforts and provide feedback, constructive criticism and comments directly to Leo and/or Brian. I can assure you that every reasonable effort will be made to meet your expectations.
December also means that the holiday season has arrived so here’s hoping that you are able to gather with friends and family, at the Club or wherever you may be, and can enjoy the warmth of those relationships and celebrate the festivities of the season with them.
Happy Holidays!

Lost City Golf Club Ambassador, Alexa Pano will be spending a great deal of time on the road in 2023
thanks to her shooting rounds of 71,70,70,73,68,71,68,67
An 8- round total of 16 UNDER PAR !
This earned her a T21 finish and full exemption for the 2023 LPGA Tour. We look forward to following her each week.

How Many Members Are Enough ?
The By Laws of Lost City GC do not have a limit on the number of members, so how do we decide?
Our main focus is “ The Member Experience .” In order to preserve our “ No Tee Times” policy, except on weekend mornings, we only allow our Full Golf members to play on weekend mornings. So that is where we place limits…on Full Golf memberships.
How many is appropriate? Currently, we have determined that limit to be 360 Full Member golfers. This has generally resulted in no one getting a weekend time outside of 30 minutes from when requested and has substantially resulted in all rounds being played in under 4 hours. All that preserves the Member Experience we wish to provide.
In addition, we currently have 92 Afternoon golfers and 61 Limited Play golfers, and likely could accommodate more as we have not seen a significant impact on pace of play or course conditions.
We will continue to assess these numbers to preserve the optimal Member Experience and make adjustments as necessary.

GOOD BYE ’22, HELLO ‘23!
Are you ladies ready for a great new season?!
Lost City is an “on campus” club with true neighborly spirit so in keeping with that, we should encourage the new ladies to come into our fold, make sure we get them out to play. Remember, we have the Donna Howell Match Play Tournament coming up and it would be great to see new faces. Get your sign up done! We also have Can Am. Get that rivalry fired up and let’s play some good team golf.
For our next Major event, the “Partner Better Ball” in January, check in the locker room for previous pairs list and remember you can only have played with the same partner for 2 years. Change it up!

Happy Reading. Happy Holidays!
As we bid adieu to 2022 and prepare to welcome in a new year, Lost City’s Food and Beverage Department finds itself in the midst of change with our “new” being all for the better for you, our members. Brian Downey, our new Clubhouse Manager, has taken the reins of his department with a professional, organized approach that once firmly implanted will offer us our best dining experiences to date. Add to that his friendly, warm manner with everyone, staff and members alike, and 2023 is looking great! Of course, Brian is not a one man team and while he finalizes his hire of a new chef, we must applaud our current Kitchen Team who, in the absence of a “leader,” have served us very delicious food under trying circumstances. They are currently working on a special menu for New Year’s Eve sure to delight.
JANUARY promises to be a busy month with lots of golf and dining events. Ever responsive to our members’ desires, we are excited to welcome you on Wednesday, January 11 to a new night with a new name TBD with suggestions appreciated! The night will incorporate the best of the Monday night mixer and the Wednesday night pub night for a fun and inclusive evening for all with a new and exciting menu. Come early, come late, mingle at the bar where everybody knows your name and then enjoy a casual dinner with light bites as well as more substantial but still unfussy food for your dining pleasure. Although this is an easy-going evening, RESERVATIONS are still and most importantly REQUIRED. If we’re not properly staffed and foodprepared, we can’t offer you our best.
We continue the culinary delights on Saturday, January 14th when this past summer’s wildly successful Lobster Night returns by popular demand. However, there will be changes to the format — “all you can eat” left latecomers with empty plates while the earlybirds kinda took advantage…Anyway, there will still be plenty of food so don’t miss this special evening.
Come ready to laugh on Saturday, January 21 when Dinner and Comedy Show will be the featured attraction. Not one, but two, comedians will grace our stage providing a riotous finish to an evening of delicious food. Both John Carfi and Dan Wilson have performed at concert venues, hotels and casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City as well as headliners at comedy clubs nationwide and aboard cruise ships. We know you will enjoy their unique styles and captivating humor. Reservations will be limited so make sure to confirm your spot early!
New this season will be Lunch and Learn on Monday, January 23rd. A featured speaker from the Palm Beach Historical Society will present a lecture on “The Gilded Age of Palm Beach,” sure to be fascinating and informative. Lunch will be served from a fixed menu at 12:00pm before the talk. All members are welcome and reservations are necessary.
Finally, Saturday, January 28th will bring back the unanimously applauded “Family Style” Dinner with a themed menu yet to be finalized. Everyone attending raved about December’s Italian Night so the bar has been set! Don’t miss the next one!
The 9-hole Ladies group and the Nifty Niners held their Secret Santa and Holiday Luncheon on December 6th.The event was complete with a delicious luncheon, a White Elephant Secret Santa game, and prose and songs to ring in the holidays.
The winners of the golf scramble were:
First Gross
Sandra Blumel
Nancy Cashman
Linda Heilman
First Net
Joy Bayrouty
Corbin Lutz
Bertie O’Grady
Drue Weinstein
Special thanks are extended to the Committee, the Dining and Kitchen staff, the Golf Pros and staff, and Cassandra Dupar for all of their dedication and continued support.“
Psychology tip of the month:
One of the most important mental tricks you can learn to improve your ball striking and putting is improving your shot visualization. This sounds deceptively simple, but, in fact, is often one of the last things skillful players are able to master. When I was an assistant professional, attending one of the PGA business schools, we were sitting in the classroom and the instructor asked us to close our eyes and visualize a tee shot on any hole at our home course. After a minute or so he asked us to open our eyes, and he asked a few questions about our experience. He asked, “What way and how hard was the wind blowing?”, “Were there clouds in the sky, or was it a cloudless day?”, “Were you hitting a straight ball, a draw or a fade?”, “What was your target?”, “Was the hole straight or a dogleg?” Needless to say, many of us had not even thought of many of those things.
His point was that the more detailed you can make your visualization, the
more likely you are to hit the shot you are seeing. There is substantial research supporting this concept, both in and out of golf. How many times have you seen a high handicap player hit a successful recovery shot between trees after a poor drive? It is much easier to visualize the shot when the trees force you to see it clearly.
It can also help to make the picture extreme, to make it easier to see. Former tour pro Mike Reid was taught by his sport psychologist to picture six foot tall, green, dancing worms bordering both sides of his putting track on the green. This picture was so clear to him that he said he felt like he couldn’t miss the line, as the ball would bounce off the worms and stay online. This picture allowed him to make a confident stroke every time.
Improve your visualization skills and improve your game.

Dear Lost City Goff Club Members,
I am writing this the day after the Staff's Holiday Party and a few days after the Member's Holiday Dinner. On my way home last night after the Staff Party I got stuck in a City of Atlantis traffic jam. It was a 4 car back up in the northbound lane of Orange Tree Drive on Monday night. All 4 vehicles were blatantly rubbernecking to watch the Atlantis Christmas Golf Cart Parade that was joyfully moving slowly and below the 25 mph speed limit in the southbound lane. Lots of music playing, horns tooting, and people yelling "Merry Christmas". It was a great ending to several days of holiday festivities at the club.
Over 100 members attended a perfect Holiday Dinner on Saturday, December 10. Our culinary staff did a tremendous job performing as a team under the leadership of our new Clubhouse Manager Brian Downey. Evan, Gary, and Gabby led the front-of-house team coupled with Maria, Marc, Aaron, and Matthew making sure the kitchen operated at a high level. Based on all first-hand reports, all attendees had a great time. Many were out on the dance floor enjoying the camaraderie.
The Staff Party on Monday, December 12 had over 100 in attendance (biggest turnout ever), made up of staff members and their sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, wives, husbands, mothers, and fathers (Ages ranging from 7 to 70). We raffled off gift certificates and gave out Holiday Bonuses to all. The Holiday Bonuses, Gift Cards, and Party were graciously provided by you our club members. I wish all of our members could have witnessed the smiles they helped create. THANK YOU TO EACH & EVERY CLUB MEMBER!!
The weather was incredible the entire week and lots of golfers were out playing and practicing with their friends and family. In closing, this is what being part of a country club is all about.....Members, Staff, and Community all enjoying themselves in a caring, kind, fun, and respectful manner.
Depending on when you read this..... Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy Holiday Season to all.
