Social Justice RECONCILIATION WEEK

To commemorate 21 years since the Reconciliation Walk across the Harbour Bridge, a group of our Year 9 students walked across the bridge, and then paid a visit to St Mary’s Cathedral. Students also engaged in workshops unpacking Jessica Johnson’s artwork Action, which tells a story of land and community. Students created a Sea of Hands around the Mary Ward statue, a symbolic gesture of our obligation to work for reconciliation with our Nation’s First Peoples.

WINTER SLEEP OUT

OUR BIG KITCHEN VOLUNTEERS

On a chilly August night, our Loreto Kirribilli community supported the Vinnies' Winter Appeal by joining the Family Winter Sleepout @Home. Over 50 students joined in this worthwhile event and challenged themselves by sleeping outside, sleeping rough around the house or spending some time outside in the cold. The support for Vinnies through our fundraising page was heart-warming.

Seven of our Year 11 students had the opportunity to spend time during the school holidays volunteering at Our Big Kitchen. Our Big Kitchen is a community kitchen in the heart of Bondi which inspires individuals to come together to help people in need. Last year over 120,000 meals were made and distributed to disadvantaged Australians.

HAMPER DRIVE FOR FAMILIES IN NEED

In a collaboration with Youth off the Streets in Macquarie Fields, our students donated and sorted care hampers packed with stationery supplies, books, toiletries, toys and packaged food for First Nations' communities under stress in Wilcannia and Dubbo.
