WALK TO TOKYO CHESS CLUB’S OPENING MOVE

During the Olympics, our entire school community joined in our Walk to Tokyo Olympic Challenge, a fun opportunity to stay active and healthy during lockdown and to earn valuable House points. We walked the 9.36 million steps to Tokyo in just over a week! In May this year the Loreto Kirribilli Chess Club was born, thanks to the initiative of Year 10 girls Arie Saywell, Amelie Collins and Sophie Schembri. The new chess sets were set up, strategy discussed, and students and teachers alike engaged in a new Friday lunchtime mental challenge.

LUNCHTIME ACTIVITIES

Before the COVID-19 restrictions came into force, our Sports Captains were busy with Lunchtime Activities, held on the tennis court each lunch hour. A variety of games were on offer, with some healthy competition consistently on display, especially in handball!

FRIENDSHIP FILM A WINNER

As part of their Wellbeing program, Year 8 were assigned a task to create a short film about friendship. The results were then viewed and voted on by their peers. Congratulations to Olivia, Maeve, Maxine, Catherine and Phoebe whose film, A Good Friend, encapsulated the thoughtful, steadfast and observant nature of a true friendship. Shown here, a clip from the film with Olivia, Maeve, Maxine, Catherine and Phoebe.

PRINCIPAL’S LUNCHES

The Principal Mrs Anna Dickinson met with Year 12 students in a series of informal lunchtime chats. These lunches were a welcome opportunity for Year 12 students to connect, share ideas and reflect on their Loreto Kirribilli journey.

Wellbeing Week

ROMALINA ROCCA | DIRECTOR OF Senior school

During September’s Wellbeing Week we held a range of individual, class based and physical activities.

MINDFULNESS MONDAY

We heard from ex-student Madeline Foster (‘12), psychologist and marathon runner who currently works in public health in New York.

THANKFUL TUESDAY

We reminded ourselves to be grateful for all the gifts we have, and to reach out to someone who may be struggling. Students were invited to write a message to show their gratitude to a loved one, participate in a guided meditation session and reach out to someone in need.

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

Physical wellbeing was the name of the game for Wellbeing Week’s Workout Wednesday! Students were encouraged to don comfortable leisure wear, make a healthy drink or snack to enjoy in Circle Class and join our weekly Wednesday Workout!

Dr Kristy Goodwin held an informative session for our Junior School parents to help support children’s digital wellbeing. Discussions included advice on setting boundaries and strategies to offset digital fatigue.

THURSDAY R U OK? DAY

Year 12 students shared some words of wisdom for R U OK? Day as part of Wellbeing Week. Students wore a splash of yellow and raised funds to show their support for the cause.

FELICITY FRIDAY

Staff and students in the Senior School enjoyed an ‘unplugged’ break away from computers, phones and screens on ‘Felicity Friday’ to round off Wellbeing Week!
