Volume 15 - 21 May, 2013

Intermediate B - The team had a slow start to the season with an 11-7 loss to Mary MacKillop. The low scoring game is a testament to the countless intercepts and strong defence of both teams throughout the game. The girls have tremendous potential to improve as a team and find success this netball season. Bridget O’Connor – Coach Intermediate C - The team started the season with a solid win over San Sisto 29 - 5. It was great to see the girls listen to feedback and then attempt to correct certain aspects of their game. The Intermediate C team is a team of great versatility, and reluctant shooters Alana and Emma proved to be instrumental in garnering the win. Tiana’s long, sharp shoulder passes and space awareness also helped strengthen the mid-court. It was a very impressive first game and good to finally see the team in action. Well done girls! I am now very excited for the rest of the season. Ashleigh O’Connor - Coach Intermediate D - The team had a fantastic start to the 2013 season, beating Mary Mackillop, 23 - 1. So far, I am very impressed with the team dynamics displayed during training and the game! I am looking forward to working with the girls to hopefully remain undefeated for the rest of the season. Great start girls! Emma Macleod – Coach Intermediate E – BYE Intermediate F (1) - Despite a good start to the 2013 season, the girls were defeated by Lourdes Hill College. Strong defensive efforts by Jamie Fletcher and Isabella Kubler made for a close match. Well done girls, looking forward to next week . Kate Mullins – Coach Intermediate F (2) - The Intermediate D team has begun their season with a win! While they struggled with the first quarter, the girls fought hard for the rest of the game to defeat Lourdes Hill 18 to 16. Alex White and Mikaela Keyser worked tirelessly in defense and fought hard for the rebounds. Overall the team should be very proud of their efforts. Great start to the season girls. Hannah Fowler - Coach Junior A - The team faced some stiff competition against St Rita's, losing a hard fought game 9 - 6. Defence from both teams was outstanding keeping the scores low. Our Loreto girls didn't have their spirit defeated however, with the pre game excitement carrying through after the final whistle when they proudly (and loudly) finished the afternoon with the Loreto war cry. Lyn Dixon- Coach Junior B – Displayed great teamwork and commitment for the first game despite the loss. It was pleasing to see the effort and enthusiasm the girls demonstrated throughout the game and their support for each other ensured they stayed within reach of the opposition for the majority of the game. The entire team demonstrated excellent defence work with numerous intercepts and pressure over the ball that allowed our attack to convert these much needed turnovers into points. Overall for the first game of the season, the girls were fantastic! Clare Gill - Coach Junior C - Began this season with a great match, with all players working together and trying their best. Unfortunately it was a close loss with San Sisto College winning 12 - 8. Special mention to Despina Grespos and Maggie Healy for stepping up and playing in both attack and defence. Stephanie Esprester - Coach Junior D - Were defeated by Lourdes Hill, 13 - 15. Many positives were taken from this first game, as well as areas that require some improvement! Grace Winch showed great versatility in playing in the centre court and as goal shooter/attack. Pheobe Reid Smith was electrifying in defense and attacked every contested ball with great intensity. A good platform on which to build for our next game. Mrs Jacqui Gold and Sarah Pettiford - Coaches
