RUNWAY LONDON FASHION REPORT

FASHION'S FINEST SPOTLIGHT PURE LONDON RUNWAY SHOWS INTERNATIONAL FASHION SHOWCASE AT SOMERSET HOUSEÂ

A/WÂ 17 OVERVIEW What's coming in this issue

Written and photgraphed by RHIANNON D'AVERC

Welcome to the inaugural issue of London Runway. This season was all about one theme that came up over and over again: sheer, lingerie fabrics and stylings combined with gothic colours and sensibilities. If you were on a runway, chances are you were wearing black lace.

Next up was Fashion's Finest. Each designer showcased a number of looks together, rather than getting the catwalk to themselves. Each designer did have their moment in the spotlight to walk accompanied by a model, and receive their due applause.

We start with Pure London, which features two shows each year. The main stage showcases looks from major suppliers at the show and special features, while the Spirit Stage is more for up and coming brands. The models were familiar faces this year, as they often are, giving a sense of cohesion between the different season shows.

I edited heavily when presenting these shows simply due to the volume of looks that were on display. Hopefully you, and they, can appreciate the need to narrow the selection down to the best looks only. Both Pure and Fashion's Finest are regular dates in my calendar, so you will see them in the next issue too.

IFS at Somerset House is less of a frequent event, however - with clothes shown on mannequins instead of walking the runway, it's something a little different. Many of the looks in these pages shock and amaze because they are experimental and different. Many of them would not be something you would expect to wear walking down the high street. But that's the beauty and excitement of fashion. Enjoy - and remember to follow @pcistudio on Instagram for more.
