EDITOR'S LETTER Welcome to a new issue of London Runway - just make sure you don’t drop your copy, as this month we’re looking at all things fragile!

What can you expect in this issue?

We’ve got some gorgeous editorials as usual, a bumper pack of new faces to meet in our models section, and some creative, unique, and intriguing designs from students as we continue our coverage of Graduate Fashion Week.

You’ll notice, of course, that this is the September Issue - and so we wouldn’t leave you without some galleries from the London Fashion Week catwalks.

Make sure to check out the House of iKons runway that we teased for you last month, with all the designers whose profiles you can read if you pick up that issue!

Some housekeeping and updates for you: if you’re a model based in the UK, you’ll want to check out our monthly Shoot Days. These are perfect for models to expand their portfolios without having to pay out of the nose,

as the group setting helps us to keep the prices down. We’ve set up a new system this month which should hopefully make booking in your two-hour slot even easier, so don’t waste any more time - head over to our website and get involved now!

As I write this editor’s letter, we’re embroiled in yet another flash heatwave - or at least, I hope it’s a flash, because I can’t take much more of these temperatures. As I chat with other Brits in various networking settings, the conversation always turns, quite inevitably, to the weather.

One thing we always say is that we’re never happy - wishing for heat in the winter and praying for cooler times in the summer.

I don’t know if that’s quite true, though.

We have a time-honoured tradition of jetting off to cheap but hot destinations whenever we want to be baked like lobsters by poolsides, and we’re pretty good at it, as a nation. As far as my opinion goes, that’s where the summer

weather should stay.

Global warming is a serious issue that affects us all, but it’s easy to get into eye-rolling or glib jokes when the subject comes up. We mustn’t forget that fashion is a highly polluting industry, and we who are part of it must do all we can to mitigate that. That means thrifting, making clothes last longer, buying a few well-made statement pieces that will last years rather than hundreds of fast fashion items that fall apart after the first wash, learning how to sew or use a sewing machine so we can make repairs, and shopping sustainable in the first place.

If the hot summer weather makes you wish for cooler times, then maybe try doing your bit when it comes to your wardrobe - we can all of us make a little bit of an impact, adding up to a much larger one.

It’s a fragile globe, this planet of ours, and we need to treat it better - in everything we do, starting with the things we love.

I have been modeling since 2018 helping friends as they got into photography but really set the goal to do modeling on my 2019 vision board and I did my first shoot in two years but then the pandemic started so it got delayed some.

What would surprise people to know about you?

People would be surprised to know I love to create doesn’t matter if it’s cooking, singing, painting, writing music. I simply love it all

London Runway is looking for a sales associate to join our committed, busy, and fashion-loving team.

About you: You are comfortable speaking with strangers and happy making phone calls, sending emails, and communicating over social media.

You have an outgoing and bubbly personality - you tend to make friends wherever you go!

You may have some sales experience, and you may be passionate about fashion. We do not require you to have any particular qualifications, but you should be at least 21 years of age and no longer in full-time education, or due to finish full-time education by Summer 2024, in order to meet the demands of the role.

You’re a self-starter who will be able to work remotely without daily oversight. You may have other parttime work - we don’t mind what schedule you keep as long as the work gets done. You’re looking for a longterm challenge you can throw yourself into and want to be part of the exciting world of change that comes with a new venture or start-up. You’re motivated by targets, goals, and bonuses. You live in London or within fast and easy travel distance.

About the role: The sales associate will be the only dedicated member of our sales team, though we have other team members who also help out alongside this role.

At first, this will be a part-time position. Our aim is to find the right candidate who can boost our sales and allow us to extend the role into a fulltime position.

We are currently offering a starting rate just above minum wage at £11/hour, but for the candidate who can meet initial targets, we’re looking to raise this rate in line with job performance.

Your role will involve the following: dealing with incoming leads and converting them into advertising sales or other types of paid placement outreach to potential new customers outreach to featured brands and individuals to ensure they have all the relevant information about their feature liaising with the Chief Editor and the design team on issue placement and design for all advertising and editorial placements keeping up to date records on sales, leads, prospects, and placements

sending invoices and keeping track of payments received or due building relationships with PR agencies, modeling agencies, individual brands, show producers, university professors and fashion course administrators, and other relevant industry individuals attending fashion shows and trade shows, as well as other relevant events liaising with other platforms, such as Kavyar, where we take in our editorial submissions sharing responsibility with other team members on social media updates and placement, responses, and advertising/boosting our own posts taking meetings with leads and clients, and dealing with phone calls, Zoom calls, and emails learning our offers and USPs inside out, so you can offer them to clients from memory hitting sales targets and KPIs
