Q: You’re known for being a wine expert, but was that always the case? GM: I have bartender roots, that’s how I started. I don’t have anything against spirits or beer but if I had to rank them, it’d be wine, spirits and then beer.

Q: What exactly does a brand ambassador do? AM: Well, as opposed to bartending, I enhance and amplify the work of other bartenders. I do a lot of events—I was just in Palm Springs where we hosted parties at Frank Sinatra’s house.

Q: What do you look for in a good wine? JB: I think balance is important, but I’m also looking for something that really blows my hair back when I stick my nose in it. I like something funky and rich. I like a good funk.

Q: Do you have a favorite cocktail or drink? BM: At L’Auberge, we have a drink called “Viva Libre” and it’s made with mezcal, cucumber, cilantro and serrano syrup. It’s spicy but not too spicy—it’s got a strong balance of flavors.
