WHAT’S IN A NAME? MONIKER GENERAL Brings Liberty Station Community Together
Moniker General is one of three buildings apart of Moniker. The other two buildings that exist are Moniker Group, which focuses on commercial interior design, and Moniker Warehouse, an office space that encompasses about 20 different business, ranging from design firms to surfboard shapers. Ryan Sisson started Moniker seven years ago with Moniker Made. Then Sisson made his company grow by implementing a Warehouse; He had a dream to create a space where people could gather as a community and start conversations over a cup of coffee or beer.

In May, this dream became a reality through Moniker General. Located in Liberty Station, Moniker General serves as the retail front. Moniker Coffee Company is home to Moniker General, whereas 32 North Brewing is a vendor
partnered with Moniker. Not only does the store sell drinks and pastries, but also products from other vendors. Bradley Mountain, Rose & Fitzgerald, Tether Made, and HOLD are a few of the brands Moniker General sells. The store chooses vendors based upon sharing similar values; a purpose exists behind the makings of the goods and the conversations among the consumers: to elevate people, such as empowering female employment in Uganda. The store also sells their own furniture from Moniker Made. They’ve made the tables and shelving in which the products are sold upon. This is one way the store promotes their custom furniture. Moniker General is designed for people moreover the various brands they sell; the retail associates are not there to make commission, but rather to start a meaningful conversation with those who walk through the door.
NATIVE KNOWLEDGE: BARRACK23, the building in which Moniker General uses, used to be the 23rd naval training barrack, built in the 1920s.
BEST BEANS Moniker Coffee Company features lattes and espressos made from Copa Vida beans, which come from Costa Rica and Brazil. Their drinks range from salted caramels to lavender brown sugars. A variety of teas and pastries are available as well.
