Whoever said gravity was the hardest thing to defy obviously never had a sweet tooth. The thought of sugar alone makes our mouths water; this craving always leads us into Tiffany’s Sweet Spot to be satisfied after we inevitably give in. All fresh and made to order, owner and baker Tiffany Thorpe serves up a wide variety of delightful desserts, from cupcakes, cookies and cakes to cinnamon rolls, cake pops and macarons. Although known for her cupcakes, she also makes lovely cakes as well—most notably the Unicorn Cake, which tastes just as magical on the inside as it looks on the outside. The best part? The color scheme and flavor are your choice! Thorpe uses both a delicious American buttercream and an Italian Meringue on the base of the cake before her team fashions the enchanting ears and horn out of a tender, delectable fondue that your Insta-feed needs.
W Unique-orn • The inspiration behind the Unicorn Cake came when Thorpe was searching for a birthday cake to make for her daughter’s seventh birthday. After making it and posting a photo, everybody had to have it. Close Quarters • The team at Tiffany’s may create largerthan-life creations, but they keep their baking squad small with just seven employees! Home Base • Before her sweet success in the Coachella Valley, Thorpe started on a smaller scale, originally selling desserts out of her kitchen.
Aside from this edible, mystical creature, Tiffany’s Sweet Spot serves a variety of other cakes as well, these ones being more subtle and simple, but delicious nonetheless. With countless flavors and colors to choose from, these grab-and-go, celebration-style buttercream cakes are perfect for any occasion, and Thorpe is more than willing to write a little something special on it for you! However, if your eyes are bigger than your stomach, Tiffany’s Sweet Spot has 21 diverse flavors of cupcake options to choose from. With everything from a traditional chocolate cupcake to complex flavor profiles such as tres leches (which happens to be their best seller), you can consider your sweet tooth covered no matter the craving size. But the hometown bakery has spread its roots out further than just its La Quinta home. Tiffany’s Sweet Spot has become such a master in the sweets world that they were even featured on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” to battle it out among other cupcake connoisseurs! Thorpe, a mother of four, notes her children were a substantial reason as to why she started the business to begin with. It is a business that was started out of pure love; love that is embedded in each and every dessert that is curated in the charming little bakery. You won’t find specialty desserts like these anywhere in the Coachella Valley.
