Project Background:

Repainting Whittier Blvd is in a neighborhood known as Boyle Heights, located in Los Angeles, California. Boyle Heights is full of rich history and culture. As development and population rise, the neighborhood’s significance is forgotten. This project hopes to inspire and increase awareness for the community.

Role:

The project was worked in a group of 4 all with equal task.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to address site design strategies that combat porosity issues, creating connections between partners, beneficiaresm and programsn as well as deploying modulating porosity typologies.

Project Background:

Porto Ranch is in a neighborhood known as Ontario Ranch, located in Ontario, California. The project is a 200 acre plot designed to keep in mind the sense of community while also playing homage to Portugese culture.

Role:

The project was worked in a group of 3 all with equal task.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to create a welcoming community by providing space where pedestrians and residents can gather for any occasion while slowing down the pace of life.

The purpose of this project is to enhance the school’s project based learning curriculum through nature, culture, and circulation exploration while combating issues such as irrigation and lack of planting.

Project Background:

Rethink Green is in an middle school located in Los Angeles, California. The 11 acre project is a result of a semester full of community engagement and design.

Role:

The project was initially worked in a group of 5 then branched off to individual design.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to reimagine Hollenbeck Middle School. The design focuses on the promotion of mental health, ecological restoration, and the sense of community. The design will use a variety of design tactics to become a comfortable and healthy space that exemplifies a sense of community and environmental stewardship.

Outdoor Active Learning Lab

This revitalized outdoor classroom between the east and west academic rooms provide an opportunity for teachers to connect environmental cirriculum to students while providing a space to understand how things grow and take responsibility for their care.

Therapy Garden

This labyrinth inspired garden provides a space for faculty and students to be alone, walk, or sit. The space gives a space to slow down and allow for users to recharge. This is beneficial in improving blood pressure, muscle tensions, and stress hormones. This space on campus provides opportunity for unstructured play.

Nature Play Exploration

This space on campus provides opportunity for unstructured play. The nature-based equipment encourages imaginative play and supports social interactions and working with others. Aside to that, it also supports introverted students who prefer individual self expression.

Reading Forest

This shady space on campus is full of trees and reading pods that encourages users to slow down. The reading forest allows small groups to have engaging selfguided disucssions. These excercises aim to strengthen relationships with others while providing a comfortable space for collaborative activities.
