The site illustrated focuses on how porocity can effect site design. Porocity can be described as the quality of having empty space where anything can pass through. The project focuses on site design strategies that relate to porosity issues, creating connections between partners, beneficiares, and programs, and deploying modulating porosity typologies. The designated site is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California known as Boyle Heights. Boyle Heights is full of rich history and culture. As development and population rise, the neighborhood’s significance is forgotten. This project hopes to inspire and increase awareness for the community.

The site presented is a conceptual design proposal for an elementary school in Lake Forest, California.

Santiago Steam MAGNET Elementary School is a school known for its meaningful and innovative learning experiences through its Project Based Learning curriculum while being located in a man made eucalyptus forest. This method uses interdisciplinary instruction which includes flexible learning environments such as learning gardens and outdoor libraries. The school aims to promote students to be innovative, conscientious, experimental, progressive, creative, and community-minded. The design proposal aims to enhance these experiences and goals through nature, culture, and circulation exploration while combating issues such as irrigation and lack of planting.
