Freeport Exchange Club student of the month by Lisa Dais Guidance Counselor There are some individuals that automatically stand out due to their dynamic personality, intrinsic motivation to succeed, and.positive outlook on life. The student who we honor for this month projects such presence. Elizabeth is extremely personable, mannerly, focused, and driven. She sets clear goals for herself, and takes every measure to ensure her success. It is evident why her teachers and peers hold her in such high regard. Elizabeth has been an active contributor to the academic- and -social environment of this district from elementary school to her tenure year of high school. She boasts a strong academic and extracurricular profile that makes her one of Freeporl High Schools,' most accomplished students. Academically, Elizabeth earned a weighted average of 101.07 to rank 7th in her graduating class. Elizabeth has been an honors-level student throughout her learning years. She began by earning 'four high school credits while in junior
high school. She successfully completed Sequential Math 1 and 2, Italian I , and Honors Biology. Already advanced with the curriculum, Elizabeth continued such (academic) achievements by taking beyond the m i n i m u m requirements. She's completed four credits of science, including Advanc'ed Placement Physics and Advanced Placement Biology, five credits of math, and several other Advanced Placement courses by her junior year. Her senior schedule with AP Government, AP Literature, and -Statistics is a true testament of Elizabeth's desire to excel. This young lady is set to achieve great things. The extracurricular profile for Elizabeth is equally impressive. She has been an avid member of several sports team and student organizations. These include Students Against Destructive Decisions, Human Relations, Student Government for the Class of 2003, Peer Tutoring, National Honor Society, Yearbook Committee, Manager for Junior Varsity Girls' Lacrosse, and Science Honor Society. Her strong leadership skills elected her Vice President of National Honor Society.
Nassau Dance performs at BOCES The Nassau Dance Theatre of Baldwin will participate in the Long Island Consortium's Celebration of Dance -April 12-13 at the Nassau BOCES Cultural Arts Center in Syosset. The dance festival will feature numerous companies and styles. According to Sharon Jones, Director of the Nassau Dance Theatre, her troupe will premier a new jazz number and present a lyrical piece that won an award for choreography at the C.W. Post Dance Conference. The lyrical dancers are Jessica Wontropski, Stacy Quinones
and Danielle Riui of Baldwin, Sara Mainowkski of Wantagh and Jasmine Domfort of Queens. The Festival is not a contest, but a professionally organized presentation. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the' door, $15 per master class and $25 for two classes. For'information call 631271-8423. Baldwin Middle School students create a recipe for caring Students in the Family and Consumer Science Department at Baldwin Middle School participated in a Bake and Share Project where they learned the basic principles of baking and the value of giving back to the community. As part of'the project, the students studied the principles of baking and made a variety
of cookies. Students packed their finished products in decorated coffee cans that were distributed to needy members of the community through The Queen of the Most Holy Rosary's Outreach Center in Roose.velt. The pi'oject resulted in the donation of 200 tins of delicious homemade cookies.
