by Bill and Norma Braun The 29th Annual Shark Tournament presented by the Freeport Hudson Anglers, Inc. was held at the Town of Hempstead Guy Lombardo Marina on •June 16. Living up.to its reputation as the largest shark tournament on the east coast, Tournament Director Neil Weiss told The Leader, "300 boats entered the Tournament and delighted the huge crowd with an awesoYne display of Thresher, Mako, and Blue Sharks." The following prizes were awarded: First Place: Thresher Shark, 454 pounds; Angler, Grover Howell; Captain Jeff Squeri; $25,000. . Second Place: Mako Shark, 280 pounds; Angler, BobJBoitel; Captain Tom Trageser; $8,000. Third Place: Mako Shark, 238 pounds; Angler/Captain Carl Raimondi; $4,000. Fourth Place; Blue Shark, 237 pounds; Angler, AI Williams; Captain Tony Donofrio; $ 1,800 and merchandise prizes.
