Open enrollment ends Jan 15th and the new plan year coverage starts February 1st. If you miss this open enrollment window for group health, you will not be able to enroll or make changes until the next open enrollment – and that is over a year away! If you do not plan to make any changes and are super satisfied with your current health plans, you do not need to do anything. Your plan will roll over with only one slight change…. there is a slight premium rate increase. • January 1 is New Year’s Day
• January 5 brings Twelfth Night, an English folk custom that marked the end of Christmas merrymaking, and in ancient Celtic tradition, the end of the 12-day winter solstice celebration. On Twelfth Night, it was customary for the assembled company to toast each other from the wassail bowl.

• January 16 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day (observed). This holiday is held on the third Monday in January and honors the principles of this civil rights leader and Nobel Prize Winner dedicated to nonviolence.
• January 17 is Benjamin Franklin’s birthday. He was not only a world-renowned statesman, inventor, and scientist, but was also fascinated by agriculture.
• January 22 is the Lunar New Year. Celebrated widely throughout East Asia, this holiday begins with the first new Moon after the Winter Solstice and is associated with the Chinese Zodiac.

Butternut Squash Soup!

Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter. 2 tablespoons chopped onion. 1 medium carrot peeled and chopped. 3 tablespoons of allpurpose flour. 4 cups warm chicken stock. 2 pounds butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into large cubes. 1 clove garlic. 1-1/2 cups milk. 1/2 cup light cream. 2 tablespoons maple syrup, or to taste. chopped fresh parsley, for garnish. freshly ground black pepper, for garnish.
Instructions
In a large stockpot, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the onion and carrot and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the onion is tender. Sprinkle the vegetables with the flour and, stirring constantly, continue cooking for 3 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and add the chicken stock. Add the squash, garlic, and parsley, and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes. In a blender or food processor, purée the mixture until smooth, in batches.
Return the soup to the pot, add the milk, cream, and syrup, stir to incorporate, and heat through. Garnish with parsley and black pepper.
Make Ahead: This soup can be prepared up to the purée stage, covered, and refrigerated for 4 days or frozen in an airtight container for 1 month. To use: For each serving, combine 1/2 cup of the thawed purée, 2 tablespoons of milk, 2 teaspoons of cream, and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup, then heat through.

Team Loyalty Pawn is now in the transition process of leaving ADP Run and preparing for a new/revised go live date with ADP Workforce Now on February 10th as the first Workforce Now pay date.
Loyalty Pawn leadership has made the decision to leverage the full power of MobileHRnow as its 24/7 HR and PR business partner. We’re super excited about this change happening in February 2023.
Be on the lookout for your invitation to register for the new ADP Workforce Now employee account and mobile app mid-January! Once we transition, you will no longer have access to Run and your employee dashboard will look a little different, but your time and attendance will be the same, just in the new Workforce Now account.
All employees will be required to register with the new ADP Workforce Now account so that you can start using the new Workforce Now time card. Details to be provided in January Nothing you need to do right now.
