Terrorist aacks Louvre in France staff reporter
Alexis Genthe (Soph.)
Here in the United States we have experienced our fair share of terrorist attacks and sadly, we will probably experience more. In other countries, though, they aren’t as protected as we are. In the United States it is a lot easier to feel safe and at home because of all the security and protection we have. In foreign countries, though, people don’t have that same sense of security. France has undergone quite a few terrorist attacks in past few years. The question is Why? Well, there are so many people that are desperately searching to have something after this life. They think that they need to go to the most extreme measures to get there. Even if those extreme measures mean killing people. This particular attack happened last week on February 3 by a man with a machete, it just so happened he thought this to be one of those things he had to do. As he was running around wildly swinging at tourits andsoldiers when he yelled, “Allahu Akbar”, which translates to “God is greatest.” He thought by doing this, he was bringing some glory to God. Obviously, it does take a crazy person to do this. Luckily, the soldiers shot and detained the man before he did much harm to the innocent tourists at the Carousel de Louvre. At the time, there were around 250 people at the Louvre museum that were evacuated while the police investigated.

In years past, the winter dance has been hard to make happen. There is always a problem with enough senior interest. For the most part, the other classes all would be willing to buy tickets. Well, finally, we got it to happen. The week of winter carnival itself was not very exciting. All the games got cancelled except for dodgeball on Monday. Since all the games were cancelled, no one really got into the dress up either. That feeling carried into the dance. There weren’t very many people there, so it was a different atmosphere from the Homecoming and May Banquet dances. The songs were decent but most of them were repeats of songs that were at homecoming. There maybe were around 200 people, but probably less,

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” - 1 John 3:16-18 staff reporter

and nothing really exciting happened. For the most part, people just kind of jumped around and then walked out while the slow songs were playing. In a way, the dance was more
fun for all the couples, everyone else just got bored. In the future, there should be a better playlist and the week of winter carnival should be made more fun. When that is boring, the dance kind of just follows suit.
people around him. Surprisingly, even his boss Harley Branham at Dairy Queen bullied him. Branham was so cruel to him that she has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and now because of her actions, she will have to carry the guilt of this young man’s death on her shoulders for the rest of her life. The problem with bullying is that most people fail to see the
long-term consequences it can bring. Victims of bullying suffer tremendously from low confidence, self-esteem, and self-hatred. No person should ever have to endure these things as a result of other people’s cruel treatment, yet according to stopbullying.gov, between up to 1 in 3 students have been bullied in school. This is unacceptable that such a heinous act is still so prevalent today. However, this is something that can still be changed. If everybody sticks up for their neighbor and defends victims of bullying rather than standing by, the problem of bullying would be drastically reduced. People should also make sure to think about how their words and actions will affect others so that they don’t become part of the bullying epidemic.
Jesus says love your neighbor. What is love? Love is that Jesus laid his life down for us sinners, and that we should do the same. Not just for the people we like, or for the people we are related to, but to everyone around us and everyone we interact with. That doesn’t mean that you have to go and kill yourself for your friend. On the other hand though, if you know that they need help and can help them, you should do whatever you can to help them, and not just with big words or with lies, but with your actions and with truth.
Bully boss pushes Federation teen to suicide churchnews editor

People choose to bully others for many various reasons, but the bottom line is that there is no justification whatsoever for this despicable action and it has terrible consequences that, in some cases, cannot be reversed. This is the case with Kenneth Suttner, a teenager who committed suicide after enduring years of ridicule and verbal abuse from

St. John’s Lutheran Church has been a Christ-centered congregation since 1851. The congregation itself is more like a church family. They want to grow, expand and welcome others into the church’s arms. The church goals are to help members grow in their faith in Jesus, live in service to him, come to the message of the gospel. For nonbelievers, they work to carry out the mission of witnessing. On their website, it says they reach out to “...those around us to know the savings truths of Christ crucified, risen, and living.” The church offers a multitude of devotions that are in between Jump to pg. 4
