Few names in fashion evoke the same sense of audacity and allure as Dean and Dan Caten, the twin visionaries behind Dsquared2
With their shared creative genius,
the brothers have built an empire that redefines modern fashion, combining playful streetwear influences with a bold rebellious attitude As the dynamic duo behind one of Milan’s most celebrated luxury fashion houses, they’ve created a legacy that seamlessly bridges Canadian roots, Italian craftsmanship and global appeal.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Dean and Dan’s early steps into fashion began with their studies at Parsons School of Design in New York Though they didn’t complete their degrees, their ambition and vision led them to Milan, where they founded Dsquared2 in 1995. The brand quickly became synonymous with bold, theatrical runway shows that pushed boundaries and blurred the lines between high fashion and pop culture From cowboy-inspired collections to edgy denim and underwear lines, Dsquared2 established itself as a brand that celebrated individuality and confidence.
At the heart of Dsquared2’s identity is the perfect balance of opposites Their tagline, “Born in Canada, Made in Italy,” encapsulates their unique ability to merge North American casual wear with the sophistication and craftsmanship of Italian design. This fusion has produced iconic collections that resonate with a wide audience, from fashion insiders to global celebrities. Madonna, Rihanna and Lenny Kravitz are just a few of the stars who have donned their designs, solidifying the brand’s reputation as a favorite among A-listers.

Before influencer culture, there was Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie - two socialites and heiresses who laid the groundwork for expressive fashion in the Y2K-sphere.
Considerably the ultimate icons and it-girls of the early 2000’s, Paris and Nicole were dressed in trends from their Von Dutch hats to their kitten heel flip flops
Paris and Nicole didn’t need to say what they were thinking - their T-shirts did it for them. From flirty one-liners to over-the-top designer logos, this dynamic duo would rock tees just as unfiltered as they were Some of the most iconic phrases include "Dramatic" – worn by Nicole, as if we didn’t already know, "Tell Your Boyfriend I Said Thanks" – peak 2000s passiveaggressiveness, "Don’t Be Jealous","Trust Fund Baby" – because subtlety wasn’t a Y2K trend, and of course, "Your Boyfriend Wants Me."
These were the precursor to meme fashion and were integrated into Paris and Nicole’s personal branding: their T-shirts were part of their persona - glamorous, sassy and unbothered.
TOTES GLAM: THE HEIRESS GUIDE TO
These girls had some serious baggage Paris and Nicole didn’t just carry handbags, though - they defined the early 2000s “It-Bag” era. Their purses were more than accessories; they were status symbols, personality statements and occasionally, a tiny dog carrier They wouldn't leave the house without a Louis Vuitton Monogram Bag – the early 2000s flex - Paris and Nicole were rarely seen without their oversized LV Speedys or Keepalls, proving that luxury should be both loud and logo-covered Another staple was the Dior Saddle Bag – being among the first to popularize this instantly recognizable classic, a Chanel Flap Bag which worked beautifully when styled with the chaotic maximalism of the 2000’s, or a metallic Balenciaga City bag, with of course, a teacup chihuahua named Tinkerbell
Because no heiress leaves the house without her purse - or her puppy
Something as basic as a tracksuit was transformed into a status symbol when worn by tabloid stars with “Juicy” plastered across the back in rhinestones Something Paris and Nicole wore humbly, these velvet uniforms were celeb-endorsed and paparazziapproved
The Simple Life was a TV show that gave Paris and Nicole a peek into small-town life, and was peak early 2000s fashion - chaotic, campy and completely iconic. In a blue collar world, they never wanted anything other than pink glitter. Paris and Nicole somehow made farm work look stylish (or at least, entertainingly impractical), but dressed for the farm? Never.
The show was campy, and their outfits leaned all the way in - think rhinestone-studded crop tops, metallic mini skirts and their bag collection - perfect for mucking stalls, obviously
As fashion’s first Influencers, they were a main reason why we identify our well-loved Y2K trends with what they are If there were to be a “The Heiress Handbook: Dressing Like Paris & Nicole in the 2000s,” there would be loads of lip gloss, logomania and low-rise denim with each their own personal branding. And when it comes to oversized sunglasses, the bigger the better - take it from them, they know how to hide from paparazzi. Although we see a lot of micro/mini trends today, skirts shorter than belts were a staple for these girls. The hemlines were short, but their impact was legendary.

Soft, earthy hues meet delicate floral prints in this dreamy, beach-ready ensemble. A sheer, breezy cover-up pairs perfectly with a vintage-inspired bikini, featuring warm botanical tones and bold red ties that add a sultry touch. The woven handbag exudes effortless resort chic, while the sculptural gold earrings provide a sophisticated, artistic flair. Finished with strappy, crimson-hued sandals, this look is the epitome of understated luxury ideal for sun-drenched strolls or lounging poolside with a spritz in hand.

When we think of dynamic duos, a certain pair of twins always comes to mind
For early 2000s lovers, Full House fans or avid The Row customers, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are the iconic duo that has made waves in the acting and fashion industries for decades The Olsen Twins started their careers playing Michelle Tanner in Full House, an 80s90s sitcom
The twins were scrunchie-clad stars with spunky attitudes and ‘80s-esque overalls as they frequently recited Michelle’s mantra, “You got it, dude.”
As Mary Kate and Ashley aged and Full House ended, they continued wearing trendy looks and acting, starring in movies like New York Minute, Winning London, and It Takes Two.
While Full House concluded, their passion for fashion did not In 2006, the duo launched their luxury brand, The Row, named after the street Savile Row in London Designed with minimalism in mind, they even strayed from a monogrammed logo
They retired from acting in 2012, focusing on their fashion careers By not promoting that they were the visionaries behind The Row, The Olsen twins let their brand speak for itself
The twins' shows are just as private as they are. At The Row’s Paris Autumn/Winter 2024 show, Mary Kate and Ashley asked for no phones and no social media, and guests were asked to stick with the tried and true pen and paper, with few photographers there.
From trousers and collared shirts to the perfect white tee and flip flops, The Row has simplicity down pat Celebrities acknowledge this quality, as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence have worn the brand
Their trendiness has lasted decades as the Olsen Twins have recently drawn views for their iconic method of tucking their hair into the collar of their shirts. This phenomenon is now known on TikTok as the “Olsen Tuck” and has become a chic way of elevating a fall or winter outfit.
Although Mary Kate and Ashley’s talents have moved behind the scenes, their creative vision, and their brand, remain the main character

They say dogs look like their owners… but how iconic is the Look?
Dear Marilyn, we too love diamonds, however there may have been some serious oversight on contenders for a girl’s best friend. K9’s are a woman’s greatest confidant, best friend, and coincidentally the perfect accessory
Diamonds are undoubtedly stunning, but they can’t simultaneously accessorize while also providing companionship like a girl’s true best friend can.
When discussing fashion It-girls and their It-dogs, Elle & Bruiser Woods cannot go without mentioning They are the prime example of a dynamic duo that embraces the silly whimsy of styling yourself with your pet Within their catalog of ensembles, some outfits showcase matching accessories while others capitalize on perfect color coordination What’s clear from every look is that Elle & Bruiser are a unit, who, when together, create a look more powerful than either individual
On the opposite end of the spectrum, but every bit as much of a perfect match, is Kendall Jenner and her Doberman Pinscher, Pyro This high-fashion duo is no stranger to public appearances with sneaky Bottega Venetta campaigns as well as outright photoshoots Where Elle & Bruiser play into the maximalism of it all, Kendall & Pyro lean into chic subtlety Even without extra adornments, Pyro’s coloring blends right into Kendall’s usual understated palette. These pairs, though in different ways, are examples of It-girls incorporating their dogs as an extension of their own personal style.

Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier is a partnership that has been captivating fashion lovers for decades.
The partnership between a theatrical designer and an iconic pop star holds a uniquely captivating charm. With a boundless mindset and a fearless creative edge, Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier crafted looks that defied social norms- propelling Madonna’s “popstar” fashion into a more rebellious realm as the ‘90s approached
This vivacious duo began in 1989, when Madonna specifically called Gauthier with a sensational plan to create an iconic piece that could only be imagined and brought to life by these two- it was the pink cone bra which was worn on her Blond Ambition Tour in 1990 Madonna opened her concert by rising onto the stage with the song Express Yourself, in a sharply structured, slitted suit- only to later strip it away, revealing the bodysuit that redefined boundaries of female sexuality in fashion. This fearless approach is what made her partnership with Jean Paul Gaultier so iconic- they shared a bold ambition to push limits and transform rebellion into a lasting fashion statement.
Jean Paul Gaultier designed each of Madonna’s costumes for the Blond Ambition Tour, crafting bold looks that became as iconic as the performances themselves From structured, shoulder-padded jackets with vibrant patterns to velvet circus-inspired corsets with tulle, every piece embodied theatrical flair The cone bra made multiple appearances- one in gold satin for Like a Virgin and another in a sleek black bodysuit with a sharply sculpted chest and belted waist for Vogue
More than just eye-catching fashion, these outfits moved with Madonna, amplifying her presence and weaving seamlessly into the narrative of her music
These designs captivated both Madonna fans and fashion lovers alike, but it would certainly not be the last time these two would be seen working with each other.
In 2018, Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier added yet another unforgettable moment to their shared legacy of fashion and pop culture by attending the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination Met Gala. Madonna wore a dramatic layered silk skirt and lace top featuring a bold cross cutout, paired with a delicate fishnet veil and a regal, oversized crown Once again proving that the bold, gothic allure of luxurious retro punk was far from outdated and could still be effortlessly cool
Some things in life are just simply meant to be. In fashion, certain partnerships feel effortless. Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier are one of them.

Rachel Green and Monica Geller defined ‘90s style with effortlessly chic and timeless looks that still inspire wardrobes today.
Monica and Rachel weren’t just best friends on Friends they quickly became a fashion duo that defined ’90s style in their own ways Monica kept it classic and effortless, while Rachel experimented with trends, by mixing preppy and polished looks Whether it was Monica’s laid-back denim or Rachel’s statement mini skirts, their outfits not only fit their
personalities but also shaped fashion for decades to come Years later, their styles stay trendy, proving that their fashion duos are timeless
Few pieces are as iconic as leather and the little black dress, and Monica and Rachel styled them well Rachel kept it sleek by pairing a leather mini skirt with knee-high boots or throwing on a sharp blazer for some edge Monica, on the other hand, kept it simple with fitted leather pants or a classic jacket that fit her laid-back style Both showed how leather can elevate any look without feeling over the top
And when it comes to the LBD, both understood its significance. Rachel gravitated toward slip dresses and tight silhouettes embodying glamour and femininity. Monica favored structured, minimalist cuts, proving that simplicity can look just as chic as statement looks. Whether bold or timeless, their takes on staples proved that some fashion trends stay relevant and adapt to contemporary styles
The Friends duo perfected the art of effortless dressing by turning wardrobe staples into fashion statements. Crisp white tanks, classic denim and sleek black tops became the foundation of their signature styles timeless, versatile and undeniably chic. Rachel elevated basics with a polished touch, pairing turtlenecks with tailored skirts or layering button-downs over slip dresses. Monica embraced a more relaxed approach, favoring ribbed tanks, straight-leg jeans and understated sneakers Their mastery of minimalist dressing was not just practical but about knowing how to make even the simplest pieces look flattering
Monica and Rachel’s wardrobes were not just about trends they were a reflection of their personalities and evolving styles. From bold colors and basics to leather jackets and LBDs, they mastered the art of turning everyday pieces into style statements. They each embraced fashion in their own way: Rachel with polished, trend-driven looks, and Monica with relaxed, timeless styles Together, they proved that understanding what works for you and wearing it confidently defines personal style Even years later, their influence is a testament to a well-curated wardrobe's lasting power
Color was key to Monica and Rachel’s signature styles, with each embracing a palette that suited their personality and features Rachel favored warm neutrals and soft pastels, while Monica, on the other hand, leaned into darker tones like navy, burgundy and forest green Their ability to play with color, whether through bold statement pieces or subtle tonal dressing, proved that knowing what works for you is just as important as following trends and well-fitting basics.
rom runway shows to streetwear, light baby blue has taken the fashion world by storm for the spring/summer of 2025 It's an effortlessly chic color that's bright but calm at the same time Coined the color of the season, light blue color blocking will be seen on every influencer's Instagram page, and light
blue handbags will be the talk of the season
This color blue pairs best with more muted and natural tones My favorite combination is light baby blue with burgundy leather accessories. Don't fret all those red leathers from fall/winter 2024 will pair seamlessly with the brighter colors for spring/summer
Whether covered from head to toe or used as an accent color, a feminine bright blue contrasts the more masculine colors of dark browns seen recently. With a painfully cold winter finally ending, I can't wait to see bright colors and suntans in our near future.
A bright blue Oxford shirt tucked in with dark wash jeans and a pop of red is a subtle nod to the season's colors without reading too much into fast fashion Paired with a Canadian tuxedo, a bright blue is the perfect accent color
Blue jeans, bright blue, and navy are the new black; blue is slowly replacing the beloved brown we've seen for the past couple of seasons But don't buy a whole new wardrobe for this spring Mix and match, pair your browns with whites for a springier feel, and lighten up any outfit with a short skirt or lightweight fabric
Transitioning from winter to spring is challenging. Cold mornings and warm afternoons make it hard for those of us with busy days to dress for the weather Wear a sweater over a tailored short and jeans When the temperature rises, drape the sweater on your shoulders For inspiration, New England summer fashion is always a good reference with its sunny days and windy coastlines
If you want to brighten your wardrobe, pick a light blue that complements your skin tone. Find a piece that you will keep in your closet for years Look for solid fabrics and tailored lines When thinking about popular colors, it's always best to find a classic piece of clothing that can be worn for years
s we’ve seen in recent seasons, elegant and chic hair accessories are the fashion world's favorite accessory With quiet luxury and simple lines still dominating the
runways and everyday wear, it is no surprise that the latest hair trend is a simple and timeless classic.
Flat hair clips in neutral or metal colors are entering spring 2025 fashion I remember the days of going through my mother's accessory drawers, testing out the various clips and accessories she had collected from the peak of 90s minimalism
Seeing these on the heads of influencers and fashion icons alike, it's safe to say purchasing one of these will not be a waste. Hair clips are simple and classic and can be paired with anything from semi-formal dresses to everyday sweats
Refine your everyday class outfit with a simple half-up or low and messy ponytail The key to this style is to look effortlessly put together in French fashion. Hair should not be too done and maybe even a bit messy, tied up with a simple hair clip
In the coming months, these will be on every site you could think of, but make it fun Take your time and find vintage or interesting hair clips that you will keep in your accessory drawer so that one day, your little ones will rummage through them and try them on
